"Oh come on, you've never been in love either." He says after seeing Roselyn's expression of displeasure.
"But it doesn't mean that I don't believe in love. I just haven't met the right person yet." Roselyn says nodding, like if she was trying to convince herself as well.
"Hmm, so now you're looking for love?" He asks, raising an eyebrow.
"I'm looking for happiness and for finding my real roots. I want to find my place in the world, and if it will endly lead me to love then surely I'm not going to complain." Roselyn says, pouring cheese on the remaining pasta.
"That's a shame." He comments, catching Rose's attention who looks at him.
He continues: "I thought you were like me. That you just wanted to have fun.."
Roselyn frowns intervening "so all the times you got close to me it was because you just wanted me to be one of many girls you slept with." Roselyn scolds him, he tries to reply but she suddenly gets up. "You're an asshole." She says with a cold voice and quickly walks to her room.
"Oh, God. That's not what I meant." He complains but it's too late for Roselyn to hear, she slams the door behind her.
Deeply down, Roselyn knew that she overreacted, but she was still nervous about her mom.
She checks her phone which was vibrating on the nightstand.
Message from: Karen
' How did the spell go?' I'm on my way '
"Oh God the party!" She whispers.
She tries to remember Karen's explanation.
She closes her eyes focusing, she imagines herself in front of her, like if she was looking at a mirror.
"digeris hominem" she pronounces the spell but nothing works.
"Come on. Come on" she whispers as she tries to close her eyes again.
She imagines herself, wearing the same clothes she was wearing, closing her eyes, as if she was staring at herself from the outside.
"digeris hominem" she says slowly.
It works, an identical copy of her body appears in front of her.
She remains in awe. She tries to touch the copy's body and it seemed so real.
"Okay repeat this." Roselyn says looking at her copy in the eye.
"Wow, I look very pretty." She whispers.
"Wow, I look very pretty." The copy repeats.
Roselyn nods no "nonono not this." she complains.
The copy opens her eyes as well, she says "nonono not this." repeating Rose's sentence.
"Stop repeating. Fuck."
The copy looks at her puzzled.
"Forget all I said before," Roselyn says moving her finger.
"Managing to forget.." the copy closes her eyes and her body starts shaking.
Roselyn looks at her with a concerned look on her face. "3 - 2 - 1." The copy counts, then she reopens her eyes announcing: "Done."
Roselyn lets out a sigh of relief.
"I don't feel very well." Roselyn mimics words slowly and the copy repeats the sentence. "I don't feel very well."
Roselyn nods clapping her hands.
"Let me sleep. We'll talk tomorrow." She says the next sentence and the copy repeats it.
"Last one: I'm so tired."
"I'm so tired." The copy says moving her hands exactly like Rose.
"Stop repeating," Roselyn commands. The copy closes her and starts to shake once again.
Roselyn backs off lightly scared.
The copy stops shaking and states "done."
"That's scary" Roselyn whispers.
"Okay go to bed and pretend to sleep if anyone walks in." She says pointing to the bed. Roselyn's copy jumps on the bed and covers herself with the blanket.
She now had to figure out how to get out without being caught by Andreas.
She tries to look where he is slightly opening the door, but she doesn't seem to see him anywhere so she walks out of her room, careful to make no noise. She finally reaches the door and opens it silently.
Once she closes the door behind her, she breaths deeply, and then she runs out.
Karen was waiting for her and smiles when she sees Rose arriving.
"You did it!" She jumps in joy making Roselyn smile.
"Come" she starts to walk toward her car quietly.
Karen raises the car's volume as soon as they are far enough from Andreas' house so that they can sing throughout all the car ride.
Karen gets out of the car taking Rose by the arm.
As soon as they get in there, Roselyn freezes for few seconds as the smell of alcohol makes old memories come back. All the negative things she went through begin flashing before her eyes. She takes a few steps back trying to take long breaths.
"Are you okay?" Karen asks concerned.
"Yes. It's just the first time I've been to a party since... since treatment." Roselyn says as she starts to feel better.
"We can go if it's too much." Karen responds.
"It's fine." Roselyn smiles. Karen takes her arm and whispers "I'm here by your side to check on you."
The place was so crowded that they could barely walk through the crowd.
They walk to the living room when Rose bumps into Ben.
"Here you are!" He says, he was drunk since he barely stood up and was leaning on a guy.
He offers Roselyn a bottle of vodka.
Karen intervenes taking it "thanks. See you Ben!" She says smiling forcefully and pulling Rose to the living room, where they notice an empty sofa so they decide to sit on there.
"I'm not a good friend for having brought you here." Rose says scoffing.
"No. It's fine. I mean, I can control myself perfectly." Rose admits, nodding to seem more convincing.
"We can still have fun without drinking right?" Karen says aloud.
"Oh my god." She then startles. Looking at a bunch of people in the other room.
She stands up on her tiptoe to see better.
"Oh god no" she snorts.
"What happened?" Roselyn asks, laughing lightly.
"My ex is here." Karen says taking a few sips from the bottle.
She squeezes her eyes. "I needed to drink. It was too much to take."
Roselyn giggles.
"I bet he's here with his new girlfriend." She says taking another sip.
"She's all over Instagram claiming to be in love. Like that son of a bitch cheated on me more times. I bet he cheats on her as well." Karen says glowering at him, then she turns around, looking at Roselyn "I have an idea." She says smirking.
"You should go there and pretend to be drunk or something and try to flirt with him."
Roselyn opens her eyes wide and starts shaking her head disapproving.
"Please. I just want to know if he would cheat on her as well. I don't want to make them break up." She begs until Roselyn gives up and nods.
Karen turns around and steals a drink from some girl's hands and gives it to Rose. The girl she stole the drink from, glares at her, murmuring some names.
"You have to carry this to make it seem more real."
Roselyn takes some sips from the drink. "It's fine this won't kill me. It just will make me a little tipsy." Roselyn justifies herself, then she walks toward Karen's ex and smiles hugely as she gets close to him.
"Nice to meet you." She says.
The guy looks at Rose from head to toe and then says hi.
The girls who were talking to him roll their eyes as they back off.
"You're not from here right?" He asks.
She pretends to stumble and he quickly holds her.
"Someone is a little drunk huh?" He giggles.
Roselyn laughs. "You're very hot." She says looking at Karen from the corner of her eye.
"You're hot too. But you're drunk you shouldn't be here." He says.
"So let's go to your place then." Roselyn says giggling, then she drinks.
"My place sounds amazing." He says whispering.
The alcohol seemed so light and tasty that she finishes it quickly.
"Woah! Slow down." He laughs.
Roselyn makes a sign to Karen.
"Should we go now?" The guy says smirking.
"Why all the hurry?" Roselyn hears a familiar voice so she turns around to see Andreas.
He was glowering at Rose with his arms folded.
