Chapter 2 - Sea Salted Caramel

Three months passed and aside from Professor Perry's jokes, he was a good teacher.

"And that concludes our day," Professor Perry says. "Have a nice weekend," he added.

As the students packed up their things and left the classroom, Lola stayed behind and walked over to Professor Perry, who had been sorting out papers.

"Is there any work I can do to get ahead?" Lola asks.

Professor Perry looked up at Lola.

"Lola," Professor Perry says. "You asked this last week, didn't I tell you to enjoy your stay and not get so worked up on school?"

"I'm not getting worked up, I just want to make sure I don't fall behind," Lola responds.

"You won't get behind anytime soon, so I suggest you go have fun. It's a weekend after all," Professor Perry says, smiling.

Lola went quiet.

"There's this really good ice cream shop near the beach that I recommend you to try at least once," Professor Perry says.

Lola hesitates but eventually nods her head.

"I'll try the ice cream shop and have a nice stroll down by the beach," Lola says. "Goodbye Professor Perry, have a nice weekend!" Lola calls as she leaves the classroom.

"Goodbye Lola, enjoy the ice cream!" Professor Perry says as he returns to sorting out the papers.

Lola stopped by her beach house to drop off her school books and school bag and made her way to the beach. After a couple of minutes, she arrives at the ice cream shop.

"Welcome to Little Rock Scoops, how can I help you?" a boy with blonde hair asks.

"Hello," Lola says as she walks in. "Give me a few minutes and I'll order something," she says as she looks at all the ice cream flavors they offered.

"No problem, take your time," the boy says.

"Sorry I'm late Ace," a boy with brown hair and hazel-brown eyes says as he walks in.

The boy went over to the back of the store to put on his name tag and put down his school bag. He then joins the blonde haired boy at the counter where Lola had been looking at the ice cream.

"Hey it's shorty," the brown haired boy with hazel-brown eyes says as he notices Lola.

Lola looked up and saw the boy.

"From the library right?" the boy asks.

Lola recognized the boy as the one who got her the book in the library.

"I remember you," Lola says. "Who's shorty?" she asks.

"I didn't know your name so I called you shorty," the brown haired and hazel-brown eyed boy says.

"My name is Lola, not shorty. What's yours?" Lola asks.

"Leo," the boy says, pointing to his name tag.

Lola looked at his name tag and then back at the boy.

"If you want ice cream, I recommend the sea salted caramel one," Leo says, pointing to a camel colored ice cream. "It's really good and I doubt you'll regret it."

The blonde haired boy named Ace shook his head.

"You don't have to listen to him, he keeps wanting to promote that ice cream," Ace says.

"It's good though!" Leo exclaims. "I can eat tubs of that stuff and never get bored," Leo adds.

"And gain lots of calories while you're at it," Ace muttered.

Lola tried to hide a laugh at Ace's remark.

"Hey!" Leo says as he playfully hit Ace. "It'd be worth it!"

Ace laughs as Leo turns back to face Lola.

"I'm serious, you really won't regret it, Lola," Leo says. "You can always come back and try it, there's no need to try it today."

Lola looks at all the ice cream and eventually makes up her mind.

"I'll try that sea salted caramel one," Lola says. "I'm just curious why someone would choose to eat tubs of it."

Ace nudges at Leo as Leo rolls his eyes. Leo scoops two scoops of the ice cream onto a cone and walks over to the cashier to check out.

"That'll be $3," Leo says.

Lola hands him the money as Leo hands her the cone.

"Enjoy!" Leo says, smiling at Lola.

Lola walks over to a table in the shop and takes a seat.

"I bet you five bucks, she's going to like it," Leo says to Ace.

"I bet you five bucks she won't," Ace says as they watched Lola take her first bite.

Lola's face was filled with surprise.

Lola thought as she took another bite. Leo sticks out his hand for Ace.

"Where's the five bucks?" Leo asks with a smug expression on his face.

Ace hands him the five dollars.

"You two are weird people," Ace says as he walks to the back of the store.
