Chapter 6 - It's Official

Everyone was quiet as they watched the sun slowly disappear over the horizon. After the sun had fully disappeared, Leo stood up and held out his hand.

"Let's head back," Leo said to Lola.

Lola looked at Leo's hand and smiled.

"Sounds good," Lola responded as she took Leo's hand.

"What about me?" Levi asked as he watched them.

Leo rolled his eyes.

"I'm sure you can get up by yourself," Leo said with a laugh as he laced his hand through Lola's.

Lola blushed as she looked down at their laced hands. Levi sighed as Lola and Leo laughed at his actions. After Levi got up, they all left the beach. Leo held his surfboard in his right hand and Lola's hand in his left. Levi had already placed his surfboard in the back of a red truck. Leo momentarily had let go of Lola's hand so he could put his surfboard into the red truck and quickly laced their hands again after the surfboard was secure.

"So…" Leo trailed as he scratched his head.

Silence followed as Lola and Leo fidgeted, not knowing what to say next.

"Would you like a ride home?" Levi said with a cough.

Lola turned to look at Levi.

"No, there's no need. I don't want to be a bother or anything," Lola quickly said as she let go of Leo's hand.

Leo frowned.

"You're never a bother, Lola," Leo responded. "Besides, you went to the beach looking for me," he added.

Lola blushed.

"I'm really okay, I don't live too far from here," Lola said. "I'll just walk home."

Just as Lola was going to turn back, Leo grabbed her arm.

"Lola, there's something I've been meaning to tell you," Leo said.

"And I'm out," Levi said as he quickly went into the red truck.

Leo and Lola bursted out laughing. After calming down, they both got quiet again.

"I-" Lola and Leo said as they both stopped.

"You first-" they both said and then stopped again.

Leo and Lola went quiet again.

"Ladies first," Leo eventually said as he turned to look at Lola.

"Oh, um," Lola said. "I was just going to ask you if you wanted to hang out this weekend," Lola said awkwardly.

Leo samiled.

"I would love to," Leo said. "I also wanted to talk to you about something else…"

Lola looked at Leo somewhat confused and concerned.

"What is it?" Lola asked.

"I know we haven't really known each other for long," Leo said. "But when I first met you…I fell for you…" Leo added slowly.

Lola looked away at Leo's last sentence. Her face had turned a bright shade of red. Silence soon followed them. After what felt like forever, Leo let out a light cough.

"So…" Leo said nervously.

Lola turned to look at Leo.

"Would you like to be my girlfriend?" Leo slowly asked as he met Lola's eyes.

Lola smiled.

"Of course," she replied.

They stood smiling at each other until Levi spoke up again.

"So are we going home or what?" Levi asked as he stuck his head out of the truck. "You two do realize that it's already pitch dark outside right?"

Leo and Lola looked at Levi.

"Calm down," Leo said. "We'll be with you in a bit."

With that, Leo planted a quick kiss on Lola's head and led her to the car. After she got inside, Leo went over to the driver's side and got in.

"What was taking so long?" Levi asked. "I was starting to fall asleep."

Leo and Lola laughed.

"Just some important matters that needed to be done," Leo said smiling at Lola as she blushed.

Levi rolled his eyes.

"You're not the only one with a love life," Levi muttered as Leo drove off.

"What was that?" Leo asked.

"You're finally off the market," Levi responded jokingly.

It was now Leo's turn to roll his eyes.

"And that was all thanks to Lola," Leo said.

Once they arrived at Lola's beach house, Leo got out of the car and hugged her.

"I already don't want to part with you," Leo whispered into Lola's ears.

"Me too," Lola said as she hugged Leo back.

After watching Lola walk inside her beach house, Leo was left staring at her door.

Leo thought as he walked into the driver's side.

With that, Leo began driving the road to the opposite side of where Lola lived in town.
