Lola woke up the next morning feeling happy, extraordinarily happy. When she first was applying into colleges, she had never imagined having a love life. Especially if she had been single for all her life, that is, until now. However, when it came to Leo…her thoughts about a single life changed.
Lola was about to send a text to Leo, when Leo texted her telling her that he was already in front of her house. Lola smiled upon reading the message and grabbed her bags and a slice of toast. After getting into Leo's truck, they headed off for school.
Once Leo walked Lola to the entrance of her class, they hugged and Leo went to his class. Lola watched until Leo had turned the corner down the hall and then headed into her class. Taking a seat in the front, she got out her school supplies and notebook.
"Hey," Levi said as he sat down next to Lola.
Lola looked up.
"Hi Levi," Lola said as she looked behind them. "You're not going to sit in the back?"
Levi shook his head.
"You looked lonely," Levi said.
Levi began taking out his school supplies, which consisted of a single sheet of paper and an orange marker. Lola looked at Levi confused.
"You have an interesting way of taking notes," Lola said.
Levi laughed.
"I wasn't planning on taking notes," Levi responded. "Fortunately, I now know someone who can take them for me," Levi added as he looked at Lola.
Lola rolled her eyes.
"I will not be responsible for your grades," Lola responded.
Levi nodded his head in agreement.
"I, Levi Clarke, take full responsibility for my grades," Levi said. "Although I'm still using your notes," he quickly added with a sly smile.
Lola was about to respond to Levi's remark, when Professor Perry had entered the classroom dressed in a business suit. All the students wore confused expressions.
"This is a first," Levi whispered as Profesor Perry walked towards the front.
Professor Perry cleared his throat before he spoke.
"As many of you may have noticed, my attire is very unique today," Professor Perry said. "The reason for that is because I um…I…"
Professor Perry began trailing off and eventually stopped talking. After a couple of long and confusing minutes, Profesor Perry spoke up again.
"I am going to meet my fiancé's parents for the first time," Professor Perry announced as he pulled on his collar. "By chance, does anyone know how to put on a tie?"
Everyone looked even more confused.
"A what?" Levi asked.
"A tie…" Professor Perry responded.
"Oh," Levi said. "A tie for suits, gotcha."
Levi stood up and walked over to Professor Perry.
"So where's the tie?"
Professor Perry turned to get the tie from his bag and handed it to Levi.
"I never knew you were engaged, Professor Perry," Levi said as he helped Professor Perry put on his tie. "Make sure to always be yourself and to treat your future wife well. Ladies don't like to be neglected, trust me I know," Levi said with a laugh.
"I won't," Professor Perry replied as Levi finished tying his tie.
"And remember to invite us to your wedding! You can't forget about your precious students!"
Professor Perry looked at Levi confused.
"C'mon, we must mean something to you right? I mean you do make your money from us, ya' know."
"You think I don't know that, Levi?" Professor Perry said with a laugh. "I chose my job."
"Right, right, you did…" Levi said. "But still, don't forget us," Levi added as he placed a hand onto Professor Perrys shoulder.
Professor Perry brushed off Levi's hand.
"So how long are you planning to stall class, Levi?" Professor Perry asked as he raised an eyebrow at Levi.
Levi let out a nervous laugh.
"What do you mean Professor?" Levi said. "I would never do such a thing."
Professor Perry rolled his eyes.
"It's not the first time Levi."
All the students in the class laughed, they all knew this was clearly not Levi's first attempt in stalling class time. Defeated, Levi walked back to his seat and sat down.
"Sorry for the delay, but it's about time to start class," Professor Levi said as he looked at the roll call sheet.
The rest of the class went by smoothly with Levi's occasional "helpful" tips and remarks for how Professor Perry should handle meeting his fiancé's parents. After class ended, Lola went to find Leo as Levi trailed behind her. However, they ended up walking into each other as they reached the corner of the hall.
"Sorry Lola, didn't see you there," Leo said as he made sure Lola had not been hurt.
"I'm sorry too," Lola responded.
"Man, you two are like an old couple," Levi said as he walked by them and hugged a blonde haired girl.
Lola looked confused.
"Who-" Lola began.
"This beautiful lady over here is my girlfriend, Leonora," Levi said as he wrapped an arm around the girl. "And just a heads up, we've been dating since seventh grade," Levi added as he planted a kiss on the blonde haired girl.
The blonde haired girl let out a laugh.
"Ignore him, he always says that," Leonora said.
"But it's true!" Levi responded with a fake pout.
Leonora pinched his cheeks.
"Oh, this is Lola by the way, Leo's girlfriend," Levi said through pinched cheeks.
Leonora looked over towards Lola and stopped pinching Levi's cheeks to shake hands with her.
"Hi Lola, it's nice to meet you," Leonora said with a smile.
"It's nice to meet you too, Leonora," Lola replied with a smile.
"Hey so, since school's over, why don't we all head down to the beach and get some ice cream," Levi suggested.
"That's a great idea! Are you guys coming?" Leonora asked as she looked at Leo and Lola.
Leo looked down towards Lola with a sly smile.
"Of course," Leo said. "And we know exactly what type of ice cream we're getting," he added as Lola smiled.
"Sea-salted caramel ice cream," Leo and Lola responded with a laugh.
They all made their way down to the ice cream shop by the beach that originally started the first sparks of love for Lola and Leo, Ice Cream Scoops.
