Chapter 3 - Chapter Three

Qiong Lian woodenly stared at the dead-ass stupid-looking Octopoda.

This sea lump was asking to be cut up and stewed, wasn't it?

She wanted to curse out loud the nineteen generations of its ancestors!

The black hair which she hadn't even sorted out was now clung to her face like wet seaweed and the new pink hanfu which she had changed into previously was soon soaked through.

Her heart was deeply stifled as she looked at the 200000 HP bar of that wriggling thing.

That's a lot of zeros right there, for some odd reason she couldn't access her own character page, so she had no information about herself; however, she can see other's stats.

En, great going game.

As she was deciding whether to try and fight that monster, Bai Lei who was beside her suddenly leapt off the ground and began attacking the octopus.

Teammate Bai, shouldn't you consult others before taking action ah?!

The massive octopus having sensed the approaching danger raised one of its arms and smashed it towards the flying figure; however, it missed, and the force of the slap crashed into the water causing another tsunami wave.

(ᗒᗣᗕ)՞

Qiong Lian slowly wiped away the water that was freshly splattered at her.

Heh, you obtuse multi-armed species, when I subdue you I'll boil you alive!

Silently seething at the muddly lakeside Qiong Lian opened the marketplace.

I might be level 1, but that doesn't mean this game isn't p2w(pay to win)!

Quickly scanning through the weapon section, she clicked on one, seeing the damage stats she sniggered.

Hu-hu, so what if she's level 1? Level means nothing in the face of money!

Meanwhile, a fierce battle was raging on the lake.

Bai Lei swung his axe at one of the arms that struck at him. He guessed these clan members would come with the clan guardian; however, it seems all he had to do was fight against this octopus!

Does a level 20 clan want to take him down just with this? Dream on!

He ruthlessly smashed the axe down at an arm that was close to him, causing the monster to screech in pain. Seeming to have been angered, the beast began to up its attacks.

Its Octolus clan members had awakened it, begging it to come to deal with this puny human that had been harassing them.

Clan guardians exist solely to protect the clan; however, it doesn't mean that every group has one.

Clan guardians are powerful beings in the game. If they saw the potential of an organisation, convinced or had been subdued, they will then sign a contract promising to protect the clan until they disband.

Being a guardian of a level 20 clan, it was without a doubt bothered that such a small fly would stir up the people it promised to protect.

It'll end everything today!

Bai Lei and the octopus continued to ruthlessly fight each other while Qiong Lian looked at the gigantic syringe in hand.

En.

She looked down at that small slip of instructions.

Throw at target?

She looked at the object again, she contemplated how she was supposed to throw something much larger than her.

At the moment Qiong Lian stood no more than three feet tall, the syringe was at least six feet tall ah!

Even holding it, she's tilting to the side causing the glittering blue liquid inside to slush around!

However, looking at the battle on the lake that's causing lily pads to overturn and boats to wreckage Qiong Lian sighed.

All she could do was try, it wasn't like she could seek out any NPC, they all vanished the minute the battle had began! Qiong Lian looked at the syringe, quickly spreading her arm out wide she hugged it with both arms. Sliding down, she bent on her knees.

Uno, dos, tres!

She clamped down hard on the object before bouncing to her feet lifting the object up.

Planting herself steadily down, she aimed the point of the syringe which had magically rapidly sprouted a sharp needle at the octopus before throwing it with all her strength.

Whoosh!

Bai Lei, who had just retreated a few paces away from the monster, felt a frigid air whizzing past him.

Bang!

Before he could make out what had happened, a massive collision occurred, causing the beast to fly back a few hundred meters from the impact.

Qiong Lian was hunched over on the ground after the throw, she narrowed her eyes, watching as the liquid was quickly injected into the monster by an unknown force.

Wow it was actually a bullseye?

'ROOOAARRR!!!!

'Ocotolus' guardian beast thrashed around in the water at the extremely caustic substance that had been injected into it, what the hell did that ant throw at it?!

So painful! Very painful!

However, no matter how it tried to retrieve that strange object from its body, it seemed to have been deeply leeched in.

Eventually, the sound of the piercing howls died down, and the monster vapourised into a cloud of blue smoke, the syringe also vanished along with it.

Seeing the results, Qiong Lian stood up and huffed as she dusted herself, 'that's what you get for ruining my pretty clothes!'

Bai Lei stared blankly at where the beast had been previous before mentally pouting.

Little sister Qiong, I haven't had enough with fighting the monster ha! He turned to look at the chuffed little duck at the lakeside before leaping over to her, 'little sister Qiong, couldn't you wait till I was down to beat it in one stroke ah?'

He wanted to cry!

He's been waiting for over four months now for this event to happen, but he didn't even fully have fun before this little sister destroyed it ah.

Qiong Lian looked at the sulking big man before scratching her nose, pretending she didn't see such a sight.

It's not like they hadn't spent a full twenty minutes battling against each other, why the long face?

However, before she could retort Bai Lei fuzzed-out before he vanished. The last thing she saw of him was three signal bar on top of his head with a massive red cross over it.

She blinked her dewy pair of eyes, did that big brother disconnected?! Guess the battle against the sea creature didn't sit well with his internet or VR spec.

What luck, ah!

She wants to disconnect too!

She wants to have a power-cut!

Feeling extremely vexed Qiong Lian looked around her before retrieving another horn from her inventory.

'IS THERE ANYONE ELSE WHO HASN'T LOGGED OUT?'

Clogging her ears at the loud voice of her own, Qiong Lian waited.

She waited a full ten minutes to only realised she was either the only sole person still logged in or the other people didn't want to answer!

Feeling a sense of determination, she retrieved a bunch of horns and spent a full thirty minutes spamming world chat.

30 minutes later...

Having found a tree stump to sit on, Qiong Lian dejectedly began counting the ants that passed by her feet.

No one, no one was left online. Even those Octolus clan members vanished into thin air.

What was she to do?

The likely chance of her home having a power cut was less than 2%, and the internet connection? Don't even mention it! She lived alone, with no pets to disturb her...was she going to die by being stuck in this game?

Qiong Lian looked up at the sky that had gotten even darker, she hadn't also spent more than five hours on this game, and she had already wanted to leave!

No way was she touching VR ever again, PC all the way, at least she won't get stuck in a game and won't be able to not eat!

F****** devs!

Qiong Lian puffed out her cheeks in anger as she spammed the log out button.

Ting. Ting. Ting. Ting. Ting. Ting.

Beep.

Her eyes blinking rapidly, Qiong Lian stared at the greyed out log out button.

The s*it?!

Now you can't even click on it?!

Feeling her mouth dry and her eyes moist she began to cry, 'wuwu you can't do this to me! Is it because I spent a lot of money on this game? Are you holding me hostage till you drain me dry?!

Let me tell you even if you kill me I won't give you any more money!'

Meanwhile, thousands of miles away in a enormous unlit room, behind hundreds of monitors a man tiredly sat, his eyes looking at all the greyed out players on the screen. 'Have all the players been disconnected?'

Another man wearing a red hoodie came up behind him and asked. The man behind the monitor hearing this nodded his head, 'all's ready boss, we're ready to launch the update.'

The man wearing the hoodie hearing this nodded and pat him on the shoulder, 'has the target been captured?'

The man behind the monitor rubbed his eyes before nodding his head, typing something he bought up a screen.

A small girl was sat crying on a tree stump, 'I'm surprised all went according to plan,' he grinned for the first time as he looked at the overly small human.

The man in red grunted as he looked at the small figure before turning around, 'start the maintenance,' having thrown that over his shoulders he walked out of the room.

The man behind the monitor rubbed his chin as he bought up the small girl's profile.

Editing some information on her bio he saved the file before clicking run on the update button.

Little Miss, I can't be blamed for this, it's boss' hobby that's a little twisted!
