Chapter 5 - Chapter Five

Qiong Lian's heart was beating fast as she ran through the forest.

Lesson learnt today: don't be a third wheel in a lover's quarrel!

Her small body was surprisingly agile as she zoomed through the forest, leaving behind her after image.

After hearing the completion of the quest, she had gone to remove the net only to get attacked by the person who looked like a gentle man!

Hey, look at your own size then look at mine, wasn't it horrible to raise a hand against a child?!

Qiong Lian lept over a large tree stump.

Bang!

An explosion happened behind her, causing her heart to quiver.

Your mother, can't you let a child of, can't you be more open-minded?!

She ducked, and she leapt over the forest, trying to shake off the two who were chasing from behind her.

"You little b*stard stop right there for me!"

A female voice yelled, causing the forest to shake, Qiong Lian guessed it couldn't be anyone but that Demon she was tasked to capture.

Tch, see I let you go, and you come chasing after me, wasn't this what they call to bite the hand that feeds?

─=≡Σ((( つ><)つ

Qiong Lian nearly tripped over when she realised there was a fork road in front of her.

To the left was pitch black, leading down to who knows where. The right was a path leading up before disappearing around a bend.

Go right!

But never do what the heart says! Hence Qiong Lian daringly took the left which led down into endless darkness.

The Center of Yun Capital City

The kingdom was bustling due to a new embroidery shop. It was opened under the hands of a young lord who'd been praised by the Emperor.

It was of course spring and women were looking for new attires for the season, hence the reason why the city was busy with activity.

Sitting in the famous tea house at the VIP section where several pavilions were set up, surrounded by boats and lotus, a refined mask man dressed in dark blue robes sat sipping on his tea.

"Si Xu Jianguo, it's your own engagement banquet today aren't you going to go?" A handsome man, dressed in red asked as he gave his childhood friend an evil grin.

Si Xu Jianguo placed his cup down before looking across the lake at where a large piece of rock floated in the sky along with a sword embedded on it. "Xue Tan Hong, why don't you go attend for me?"

Seeing where his friend was looking, Xue Tan Hong laughed before tapping the table, "are you still thinking about the prophecy? Come on, you have gorgeous fiance can you stop thinking about that old man's words?"

Si Xu Jianguo glanced at his friend, his eyes glowing slightly, "you tell me, since when has that old man ever been wrong?"

Xue Tan Hong didn't have any words to refute as he rolled his eyes. Fine, even if the old man was never wrong, was it alright to still wait for the prophecy to happen, what happens if he, Si Xu Jianguo, had to wait till he was old and wrinkly?

Then what about his, Si Xu Jianguo's, fiance, wasn't it unfair for such a sweet girl?

Xue Tan Hong sighed, there was no way to convince this stubborn friend of his as he picked up a cherry blossom cookie to eat.

Suddenly a tremor appeared, causing the world to shake.

The two young men looked at each other before hurriedly standing up and looking around. Then something unexpected happened.

The early afternoon sky which was mild and slightly dim was instantly lit up, a single streak of light appears carrying a small figure than was gracefully descending.

The duo spotted that small figure that was leisurely skipping down, her grey coloured dress floating around at her movement there also seemed to be something gold shimmering around her.

Si Xu Jianguo watched intensely as that exact small figure grabbed hold of the sword, quickly pulling it out before swinging it and throwing it back into heaven.

Was she an immortal, the fairy that was a part of his prophecy?

Bang!

The sound was so loud it caused Si Xu Jianguo and Xue Tan Hong to nearly cough up blood. They both stumbled slightly, grabbing onto the table to keep themselves up.

What was that?! Instead who was that?!

The two glanced at each other before hurriedly looking at the small figure again.

Only to find not only was the light was gone, but also the small figure and that sword.

In a small corner of the city

Qiong Lian was tired both emotionally and physically as she laid on a stack of hay while looking up at the broken roof she'd just fallen down from.

Her whole face was drenched in sweat, it was entirely uncomfortable, and she had never felt so disgusted in her entire life.

The game screen was glitching slightly as a warning notification appeared.

[Service out of range, the emergency system has been initiated. The player is gifted one of each item from the game store. The unused balance has been put into your inventory. Please be patient as we try to fix this issue, as compensation we'll reward you with extra items, please check your bag.]

The message only appeared for less than two minutes before disappearing along with the user interface.

Nah, this was horrendous.

Qiong Lian had managed to escape from that crazy couple only to be told that she was out of service range?

It seems unless it was the inventory, she can't access other features of the game mechanics.

If this wasn't a living nightmare, then what was?!

Qiong Lian slowly sat up, surprised to find that her body didn't sustain any damage from that fall that was beyond what any human could cope with.

Fine, so what if she wasn't in the service range, she was still inside the game, right? As long as the world wasn't messed up and had transported her into a different dimension, she'll always be able to head back to reality!

It was probably best if she finds out where she was first. She believed in her memory, as long as this area had been mention on the game forum she'll be able to work out how to get back to the game service area.

To be honest, Qiong Lian hadn't a clue what to do. To say her mind was anything but calm was an underestimate.

She wasn't stupid alright, not being in the service area and being cut off the game shop and other game features were enough to tell her something was dodgy!

Someone back in reality was probably messing around, and it was depressing because she didn't have the powers to even beat them up!
