Chereads / Not Your Average Human / Chapter 21 - Rejection

Chapter 21 - Rejection

Day 3.

"Did you ask him?" Kellian asked.

"... No," Carly replied. "But we talked. He answered all my questions and listened when I talked." She continued.

"That's great." Kellian smiled.

"Yes. I know so much about him now. Who would have taught you'd learn more about your crush talking to them than you do stalking them." Carly laughed.

"You... Stalked him?" Kellian questioned.

"My sister and Amanda told me that's how you get to know your crush," Carly answered.

"Vile people corrupting my precious little bean," Kellian grumbled.

"Haha." Carly giggled.

Kellian saw a bruise on Carly's arm, "Hand."

"Huh?" Carly was confused but handed Kellian her hand.

"Who?" Kellian asked with a serious expression.

"Haha. You saw those." Carly laughed awkwardly. "My sister and mother were mad I'm getting along with my crush and Sally isn't."

"My precious darling. Come let me hug you." The two girls hug. "Those people don't deserve you, okay?"

"Gasp! Kellian... Do you mean that?" Carly was touched.

"Absolutely." Kellian smiled.

As usual, they went over today's plan then practised with Leo. When lunchtime came around they quickly had lunch then it was time to execute the plan. Ryder, Leo and Kellian decided to leave them alone for this one.

Dexter was going to teach her to play football. When they finish Carly is supposed to ask him on a date.

Sally noticed Ryder, Kellian and Leo walking together. She purposefully tripped in front of Leo to get him to catch her. However, Leo was tired of missing lunch because he fainted and dodged her.

She fell face first. She sprung up pissed then glared at the three friends. Coincidentally Kellian tripped and Leo caught her. This angered Sally greatly.

'That hussy! Now you've done it. I will get him to like me without using your stupid tactics. AND to top it off I'll make him hate you!' Sally begins to laugh evilly.

"Ummm... Are you okay?" The same random guy from before asked.

"What do you want!?" Sally snapped.

"I was just worried. Your nose is bleeding." He replied.

"Oh, it's you again. I thought I told you to mind your own business, virgin." Sally said, annoyed.

"I'm sorry..." He apologised.

"You're sorry about being a virgin?" Sally asked.

"No. I'm sorry I bothered you." The boy answered.

"Aw. That's cute but you don't need to be. Wait... what the hell am I doing? Quit trying to make me like you, Virgin!" Sally yelled then ran away.

"Like... me...? Did she just say she likes me???" The boy started freaking out.

"Wait no she probably never meant it like that. Yeah, he's head over heels in love with Leo after all. She doesn't even know my name." He calmed down.

"Simon. There you are! We were looking for you!!!" Some muscular guys ran over.

"I was uhhh... Busy." The boy apparently named Simon made up an excuse.

Day 4.

"Kelly! I did it! The date is on Saturday!" Carly yelled running up to Kellian.

"That's fantastic!" Kellian caught and hugged the girl.

"And... I think I can handle today by myself. I want to be completely genuine!" Sally continued.

'She has more wounds. Now I know how the guys felt. It's not my place to do anything about it though. They're family so I'm sure she feels something for them.' Kellian smiled. "Okay. Have fun. Don't forget to tell me everything!"

"I won't." Sally happily skipped off.

"Kellian." Someone sneaked up behind Kellian.

"Oh..." Kellian turned around and was utterly disappointed when she saw who called her.

"Don't look so sad to see me. I just want to try being friends again... but for real this time." Sally smiled taking Kellian's hands in hers.

"Okay? We can eat lunch together and I may or may not forgive you but I don't want to be your friend." Kellian declared.

'Like anyone would want to be friends with a human. An ugly annoying one at that. You're not special enough to have people beg to be your friends!' Sally smiled, "I'm okay with that."

"Then I'll see you at lunch." Kellian put on a fake smile.

"Yay! See you!" Sally bounced up and down then skipped away.

'Is she trying to copy Carly?' Ignoring Sally, Kellian left and went to greet the guys.

"Oh by the way. I'm going to be eating with someone else today." Kellian announced.

"Who?" Leo asked, curious.

"Sally." Kellian reluctantly replied.

"..." Ryder remained silent, staring at her as he waited for an explanation.

"She said she was sorry so I'm just giving a proper chance to apologize. I'm not planning on becoming her friend." Kellian explained.

"It's a trap," Ryder stated.

"But what if it's not?" Kellian asked.

"Sigh. Then handle the situation yourself if it goes south." Ryder walked away.

"I will!" Kellian pouted.

Lunch.

"You came! I'm so happy!!!" Sally said in an overly jovial voice. She sounded sweet and innocent which wasn't like her at all.

"Yeah." Kellian ignored her front and sat down.

"Here, tea." She handed Kellian a cup of tea.

Kellian placed it down, "No thanks."

"Don't be rude." Sally forced a smile.

"O-okay." Kellian felt something sinister at that moment.

"So... Are you going help me get with Leo or not?" Sally asked pretending to take a sip of her tea.

"Or not." Kellian smiled.

"That's so mean." Sally was struggling to keep her smile and innocent voice.

"I'm leaving." Kellian got up.

"What? Why?" Sally started panicking.

"You obviously don't want to apologize to me. So stop wasting my time." Kellian turned around and began to walk off.

"But... You deserve this." Sally was stated remembering that when Carly said kit caught her attention.

"What?" Kellian turned around and looked at Sally with disdain.

'Don't look at me like that you filthy bi–' Sally smirked, "I know something you don't."

"This is a waste of time." Kellian turned back around m

"Your father died because of you right? Because those human hunters were trying to save you, a human girl, from the big bad wolf, your father." Sally was pleased. 'This has to make her mad, right?'

"What the hell do you know!?" Kellian twisted around in anger.

"I know that you were adopted. Master Kian wasn't your real father. There's just no way you are related to him." Sally smirked deviously.

"Shut up." Kellian was getting angrier the more Sally spoke.

"And you know what else. He never loved you. He only wanted to use you for a stupid plan. And that stupid plan got him killed." Sally continued with a smile getting exactly the reaction she wanted.

"Shut. Up." Kellian began shaking trying to control her anger.

"I'm sure your "mother" doesn't act like she loves you. Because why would she!? A disgusting human she has to treat like her daughter even though she's the reason her husband is dead. To be honest I would have just killed you." Sally continued to mock Kellian.

"..." Kellian's face darkened. She took a deep breath, walked back to the table and picked up her teacup.

"And you wanna know something else. Your real parents didn't want you either you were sold to master Kian! Master Kian was going to–"

Kellian threw the teacup at Sally. Sally screamed in pain as the hot tea burnt her skin. And that moment Kellian remembered something.

"Haha. You know it's funny. You just saved my life like she did." A younger Kian Heart laughed.

"Silly. It was a small bear. You could have killed it if you wanted to. " A five-year-old Kellian pouted.

"But you killed it the same way your mother did! Plus, you're a small girl so you get a small bear. You know, I actually prefer you saving me." Kian smiled.

"Why?" She tilted her head.

"Because you're my miracle baby! And you were constantly in danger even before you were born. And I would always come and save you. It's about time you return the favour." He crossed his arms and smiled at his daughter.

"Don't be silly, daddy. I will save you when I'm bigger and stronger." Kellian said excitedly.

"Yes, you will. Daddy looks forward to it." Kian smiled happily while playing with his daughter's hair. "But promise me something."

"What is it?" She asked.

"Don't die. I will never forgive you if you die. You must live for a long time. For your mother's sake. Don't die. Especially not saving anyone else. For my sake. Just please don't die." He had a sad look on his face like he was about to cry.

"Alright don't cry, daddy! I definitely won't die! I'll live till I'm a million years old." Kellian said proudly.

"Haha. Good girl." He smiled.

End.

"I am his daughter." Kellian was now reassured by this memory.

'This thing actually dares throw hot tea at me!?' Even though Sally planned to anger and make Kellian hit her, she never expected Kellian to throw tea at her. "Pathetic excuse! Anyone can just say that!! Where's your proof?!" She yelled angrily.

"He... Told me." Kellian was about to walk away.

"Sure make yourself feel better! No one in this world loves you!!!! Not even Master Kian! You should just die in a ditch somewhere!!!!!"

The words just die rung in Kellian's head. She lunged at Sally, pinned her to the ground then sat on her stomach and started to punch her.

"What do you know anyway!? I know you're just making it up but it's still making me mad!!!" Kellian yelled grabbing the teapot from behind her and pouring all the liquid into the girl's mouth. "Didn't your parents teach you if you have nothing good to say don't say anything!? Just drink your stupid tea and shut up.

After the teapot was empty Kellian tossed it away. After swallowing all the hot liquid Sally began mocking her again, "Am I making it up? I'm sure everyone will be happier if just die."

Kellian began choking the girl. "Maybe but I'm sure more people would be happier if you died."

Sally began struggling, kicking and clawing at Kellians arms, trying to break free.

Kellian was sitting on top of Sally with her arms wrapped tightly around her throat. Then Kellian was suddenly lifted into the air but she didn't let go of Sally's neck.

Realizing she was no longer touching the ground, she snapped out of her trance. When realized what she had done she immediately let go of Sally, causing the girl to fall to the ground, and began crying.

Sally began coughing and gasping for air. Kellian's hands left marks on her neck.

The person who had lifted Kellian was Ryder. He sat her down on the ground not far away.

"Were you really trying to kill her?" He raised an eyebrow.

"I-" Kellian was confused herself was she really going to kill that girl?

"Explain."

"She said some mean things about me and I was getting mad and then she said I'd be better off dead then I..." Kellian explained what she remembered but couldn't talk about actually trying to kill someone. She began crying.

"..." Ryder didn't know how to console the crying girl and just hugged her while thinking, 'Idiot. You were supposed to handle this yourself.'

Kellian was crying because she broke a promise she made to her father. "Kellian. You can't hurt people anymore. You're strong now and you'll only get stronger. So from now on never fight anyone weaker than you... Unless they've done something truly evil. Oh, and no matter what you can't hurt Kaila."

Meanwhile.

"Are you okay?" Leo asked.

"L-leondre! Did you see what she did to me she's crazy! Insane!" Sally cried.

"You did something to her first, right?" Leo asked with a dangerous look.

"I just said a few things I never touched her." Sally defended herself.

"What did you say?" Leo inquired.

"Oh... just the truth..." Sally tried to sugarcoat what she had done.

"The... truth?" Leo questioned.

"Yes. I uhhh... I'm sure you know by now she's human. I just told her the truth. A man that probably wasn't even her father died because of her and he would probably be happy if she died too." Sally explained.

Leo slapped her the said coldly, "You disgust me. No wonder you always smell so rotten."

She grabbed onto his shirt, "But Leondre..."

"You are worse than many of the demons in hell." He slapped her hand away.

"W-what?"

"Also. I hope you enjoy your trips to the bathroom." Leo smirked.

"H-how did you...."

"I know everything about drugs and this smell is definitely the smell of Lacitives. You must have put a lot in the tea. It's even enough to drown out your usual revolting rotten smell."

"I-I..." Sally began crying.

"Just leave us alone." Leo has a look of disdain on his face.

"Us?" She asked between sobs.

"Yes. Me AND Kellian." Leo said nice and slow so Sally could understand. Then he walked over to Ryder and Kellian.

"The idiot cried herself to sleep," Ryder stated.

"...That chick drugged her tea. You were right this was a trap. But what would Sally gain?" Leo asked.

"Don't know. Don't care. Just take Blueberry." Ryder replied.

"Why!?" Leo was surprised.

"Because she's heavy," Ryder responded.

"...You're stronger than I am..." Leo frowned.

"I just... don't want to look at her ugly face. It reminds me of... someone." Ryder explained.

"... You had no problem carrying her before." Leo pouted.

"She looks a lot like a person I used to know when she's sleeping like this." Ryder frowned.

"I mean you're already carrying her so why not just continue." They were already inside the school building.

"You tricked me." Ryder frowned.

"I don't know what you mean." Leo smiled innocently.

"You made it so I would walk after you," Ryder explained.

The boys argued as they carried Kellian to the nurse's office. Jinx came out of nowhere.

"What happened to the girl?" Lily asked as soon as she appeared.

"Why are you here?" Ryder was confused because he didn't summon her.

"Cause I feel like it." She smiled.

"How do you know something happened to Kellian?" Leo asked.

"Intuition." She smiled again.

"Sigh. Could you check if she's consumed any laxatives?" Leo asked.

"Sure." She smiled once more taking this chance to get closer to the girl.

'From what I can tell it only blinked for a fraction of a second...' Jinx frowned. "It's not enough." She accidentally said aloud.

"Why do you look so sad saying that?" Leo asked confused.

"Huh? Oh! She hasn't consumed any laxatives. She does smell like it though so she should probably bath." Jinx smiled. "I gotta go now." And with that, she was gone.

In the end, Ryder and Leo both stayed by Kellian's side until she woke up.

Day 5.

Day five went by smoothly.

Well.

Almost.

"Amanda. I'm ready to tell you about my wounds." Sally stated.

"Good. I knew you would eventually." Amanda smiled.

"It was the human," Sally stated.

"That–"

"Wait! There's more." She cut off Amanda.

"Okay." Ama took a sip of her tea.

"Cally betrayed us. Cally is friends with the human girl now." Sally added.

"Is she stupid?" Amanda asked.

"Of course she is. The human has been helping her get with Dexter while using the chance to flirt with Ryder and Leondre." Sally lied.

"That. Hussy." Amanda was mad and crushed her teacup.

"Wait! I have a plan to get back at both of them with one stone." Sally smirked.

"Do tell." Amanda smiled evilly.

"Well..." Sally explained the plan.

"O.M.G. I love it!!!" Amanda was overjoyed.

"We just need your mother on board," Sally stated.

"Don't worry about that." Amanda smiled deviously.

After school.

"Mother dearest," Amanda said sweetly.

"What do you want Amanda?" She asked.

"Geez. Can't a girl greet her mother without reason?" Amanda frowned.

"You want something. Spill, I'm busy." She commanded.

"I want you to hold an event." Amanda smiled

"Why?" The principal was confused.

"That human has been making bold moves. I'm just getting revenge." Amanda smiled.

"But Ryder–"

"Don't worry about it. You see I am going to..."

Anyway, you don't care about that right now, do you? Of course not you want Kellian and Dexter to make up. So that's exactly what you're getting, dear reader.

"Dexter. Can you stop running away?" Kellian yelled at Dexter.

"W-why?" He stopped and asked.

"Because I want to talk to you," Kellian replied.

"Why?" He asked.

"Because you're avoiding me and that's making me sad," Kellian replied.

Dexter took out his note and wrote for a while. "I am sorry I made you sad. :c It is not your fault, I was the one who messed up and spoke. But you... heard my voice... I just did not want to hear anything about it."

"I won't talk about it if you don't want me to." Kellian smiled.

That touched his heart, "I made you feel bad. I will talk."

"You want me to talk about it?" Kellian made sure she understood him correctly.

Dexter nodded.

"Why do you not talk?" Kellian asked.

"I do not like my voice." He replied

"Why!?" Kellian yelled.

"It is... too deep." Dexter frowned.

"Nuh huh. I like your voice!" Kellian smiled.

"Why?" He asked.

"It sounds very dulcet," Kellian replied.

"That would not be my choice words but... you would not mind if I... talked more?" Dexter asked.

"Not at all. Why don't you think your voice sounds good?" Kellian asked.

"Sorry. I can't tell you that." Dexter replied.

"It's okay you don't have to tell me now." Kellian grinned cheerfully. "Friends?"

"Friends." Dexter beamed delightedly. 'My first friend aside from Ryder and Leo that liked my voice.' He was so happy he promised himself to speak more in honour of his new friend.

Day 6. Saturday. The Date.

"H-hi." Carly greeted Dexter.

She was wearing a cute Floral dress and obviously dressed up for the occasion. Dexter decided to compliment her, "You are... pretty."

"Gasp! T-thank you." She was extremely happy he decided to talk to her. And the first thing he said was

They had a wonderful day together. Watching a movie, playing games at an arcade, eating dinner and then finally a walk in the park.

She finally decided she was confident enough to confess, "Ummm... Dexter. I like you. Would you do me the pleasure of being my boyfriend?"

"I- I'm sorry, I can not. You are a wonderful person and deserve love but I am not the person to give you that kind of love."

'I knew I'd be faced with rejection but it still hurts a bit.' Carly sighed. 'I know I shouldn't ask but I just have to know!' She mustered up all her courage and asked, "Am I at least... close to your type?"

Dexter looked at the girl. She was very cute and small like a kitten. She was about 5'2 (159cm). Her brown eyes sparkled, her brown hair blowing gently in the wind and her pink lips were curved up in a nervous smile.

"I guess you are at least close to my type but I do not think it would work out. I do not want you wasting your time on me. I have only thought about Ryder and Ryder's safety for the past few years." He replied.

"... So you're not rejecting me because I'm not your type? Not even because you like someone else?"

"I have never been in a relationship and I do not think I am ready for one. I have never experienced the emotion of love, not even towards my parents. I do not know the first thing about it. It would be unfair to you if I were to accept your offer." Dexter explained,

"Okay... Can we at least be... friends?"

"I don't see any reason as to why we can't stay friends, like I said before you're a wonderful person to talk to. Don't worry about this making things awkward between us I still think of you the same as before." Dexter smiled.

"So what did you mean by you only thought about Ryder?" Carly was curious.

"Ryder saved my life. I am repaying him with mine. My life is not my own. I would gladly die in his place if need be." Dexter explained with the utmost respect towards Ryder.

"So you're like his bodyguard?" Carly asked if she had that right.

"Sort of." Dexter was disappointed with her conclusion but he never expected anyone to understand his unwavering devotion to Ryder except Ryder and himself.

After the walk through the park, Dexter walked her home then went to his own.

When Carly reached home she immediately called Kellian, "Kelly. You know, I thought I'd be sadder. I'm quite happy right now. I got rejected but he still wants to be my friend and that's all thanks to you."

"I'm just glad you're happy." Kellian was satisfied with this result.

"Oh. You're not in the school group so I'll have to tell you, School is cancelled on Monday. There will be a party like event instead, so dress pretty." Carly informed.

"So what you're telling me is I can stay home Monday?" Kellian heard what she wanted to.

"No way. You have to come!" Carly pouted.

"Fine." Kellian gave in. 'Kaila seems to be leaving more often. It would have been nice to have some alone time but I'm sure having fun with my friends will be just as good if not better.'
