Chereads / Not Your Average Human / Chapter 24 - She betrayed Us

Chapter 24 - She betrayed Us

Kellian got up early cleaned the house, got ready for school and made breakfast but Kaila wouldn't let her leave.

"Either wait for Ein or don't leave at all," Kaila said, blocking the door.

Angry Kellian ran into her room and locked the door.

'Gosh! This woman is insufferable!!! I can't leave huh? Then I won't! I'll stay here all day!' Kellian huffed.

"Ms. Heart." A strange man called for her.

Kellian ignored him. He waited a minute then opened the door himself with the key Kaila gave him. Then he did he realized this girl was a human and was immediately disgusted.

"She refused to come. Master let's—" The man tried to get Ein to leave.

"Kelly darling~" Ein ran in.

Kellian glared at him.

"Why are you so mad?" Ein asked.

"Why do you think?" Kellian scoffed.

"... Why don't you want to be friends anymore?" Ein asked with a sad tone.

"You have no right to ask that." Kellian spat with hostility.

"What?" Ein was confused.

"After my father died you abandoned me! You stopped coming for years and when we finally met again you still avoided me." Kellian complained.

"What are you talking about? I came every day for a year but you always sent me away." Ein refuted.

"You and I both know I would never send you away," Kellian responded.

"But Kaila told me you didn't want to see me every time I came to visit" Ein was confused.

"There's your issue. You trusted Kaila." Kellian stated.

"Are you saying she purposefully lied to me?" Ein asked.

"Yes." Kellian nodded without hesitation.

"Why would she? She's your mother." Ein didn't understand.

"You obviously don't know anything about her." Kellian scoffed.

"Well maybe if you told me—"

"If I told you... you'd do something reckless." Kellian cut him off.

"Fine. Will you at least come to school with me?" Ein asked.

Kellian thought about it,' I have to go either way so might as well get some information out of it.' Kellian sighed, "Only you tell me why you hate the guys so much."

"... Fine." Ein reluctantly agreed.

They got into Ein's car and began their journey.

"Leo annoys me. He does nothing and is still extremely popular." Ein complained

"That's no reason to bully him." Kellian was disappointed.

"He told you... Sigh. It was the only way to get the bullies to leave me alone." Ein confessed.

"So you bullied others to save yourself?" Kellian didn't know how she felt about that.

"No. I bullied Leo to save myself." Ein corrected.

"That's still wrong. Plus you almost killed him." Kellian informed.

"I didn't know he couldn't swim—"

"What if someone did that to me?" Kellian asked.

"... They said it was the last thing I had to do before they left me alone permanently. I didn't think about it." Ein dodged her question.

"Then you should have at least apologize." Kellian frowned.

"I couldn't the bullies were constantly watching me. And it would just feel weird apologizing after a year."

"Okay, what about Ryder and Dexter?" Kellian asked giving up.

"Ryder is an ass. He's always rude and gets to do whatever he wants because he's a rich Alpha. So I challenged him to fights. I lost every time until he stopped accepting my challenges on the day I got made and fought him even though he refused and the next day I was demoted to an Omega. I had to climb my way up the ranks all over again."

"You shouldn't have fought him," Kellian stated.

"The way he talks and looks at you... it's frustrating. And Dexter obeys him like a loyal dog despite everything. I lost my status as a respectful wolf thanks to them."

"... You're right I did want to fight Ryder. Your hatred for them is too strong though. To lie about them and ban me from seeing them... That's too far." Kellian responded.

"She told you!?" Ein was shocked.

"No, I was there," Kellian replied.

"I had to save you," Ein answered.

"Save me from what? Having friends???" Kellian questioned.

"No. They allowed your secret to be exposed and failed to protect you. I couldn't just stand by and let that happen." Ein explained.

"You wouldn't have been able to stop Amanda either. And I can protect myself." Kellian was not impressed with his explanation.

"Fine... Let's just forget all those things and start over. If I do something wrong you can correct me." Ein smiled.

"Let me talk to the guys," Kellian stated firmly.

"I can't allow that," Ein responded immediately.

"Why!?" Kellian complained.

"Because you spend most of your time with them and I can't go around them," Run responded.

"Okay? Can't I at least tell them goodbye?" Kellian asked.

"No. Then they'll try to find a way to get you back." Ein frowned.

"Ugh!" Kellian kicked the back empty seat in front of her and crossed her arms.

"Master we could always just throw her out—"

"Kelly... Please don't be mad at me." Ein begged.

"You are treating me like a caged bird. What do you expect?" Kellian huffed.

"..."

"Master you don't have to listen to this–"

"Are you going to be mad at me all day?" He asked, sounding sad.

"You should acknowledge the driver," Kellian stated.

"How about you stop talking and glaring and just do your job and drive," Ein growled and the driver.

"Yes sir." The driver listened and focused on the road.

"I'll listen to you if you at least tell Carly what's happening." Kellian compromised.

"She can come with you." Ein had no issues.

"Don't take this the wrong way but I don't trust your friends," Kellian replied.

"Why?" Ein was surprised.

"They just seem like your typical bad kids from books," Kellian replied.

"Well, you're not wrong. Alright, I'll tell Carly for you. She's also called Cally right?" Ein asked.

"Yeah... Thanks." Kellian said as she slowly curled up until she was sitting in the fetal position.

"Will you miss those guys that much? You look like you're about to cry." Ein noticed her face before she had a chance to hide it.

"I made friends for the first time in a long time and now I can't see them again... It's you all over again," Kellian replied. It was obvious by the way she spoke she started crying halfway through the sentence.

"Hey, don't cry. I'll make sure that Carly girl tells them and explains why you can't come back and I'll take all the blame." Ein tried to make her feel better.

"Thank you." She wiped her tears.

"What are friends for." Ein smiled comforting the girl. 'I shouldn't have done this. But there's no going back. Kaila is scary, she's apparently not trustworthy, she didn't seem to care too much about Kellian's safety and I'm worried about those "New ways to get her to listen" she mentioned.'

"I'm going to ask Heather to get her girls to protect you," Ein added.

"Heather? She's your girlfriend, right? Is she okay with this?" Kellian asked, curious.

"She'll probably be fine," Ein replied.

"You haven't told her!?" Kellian yelled.

"No, not yet," Ein confessed.

"Idiot! Do you care about her feelings at all!?" Kellian scolded.

"She's not as fragile as you. She'll be fine." Ein responded.

"Fragile?" Kellian questioned.

"You're so emotional and you look like anyone can just snap you in half. You're so skinny, like a twig." Ein stated.

"Want to see what this "twig" can do?" Kellian asked threateningly.

"You want to spar?" Ein asked.

"Mhmm mhmm." Kellian nodded.

"You're on!" He smirked. "So at Lunch?"

"Sure." Kellian smiled.

"I won't go easy on you," Ein announced proudly.

"Don't worry. I'll go easy on you like always." Kellian winked.

Ein's cheeks flushed slightly as memories of younger Kellian saying those words flashed through his head.

"Are you okay? Are you that excited to get your butt kicked again?" Kellian teased.

"As if! If anyone is getting their ass handed to them it would be you." Ein reacted.

"Yeah right." Kellian rolled her eyes.

"I'm serious, I've gotten stronger!" Ein flexed his muscles.

"Then maybe I can show you 20% of my true power," Kellian smirked.

"What true power could you possibly have?" Ein joked.

The two continued to joke around even as they entered the school. Ein somehow managed to keep her so distracted she didn't even notice she had just walked past her friends.

"Did Kelly just walk by without greeting us?" Carly asked.

"I think so," Dexter replied.

"She was with... Ein." Leo added.

"..." Ryder remained quiet. "Leo. Go." Ryder commanded.

"Kellian!" Leo began chasing after her.

Kellian turned her head and saw Leo running towards them. She then turned to look at Ein who was holding onto her arm. Kellian turned back and with eyes full of sadness she mouthed, "I'm sorry. Please forget me."

Leo was shocked and stopped running after he read her lips. Kellian gave him a sad smile realizing he understood her. She then turned around and left with Ein.

Leo went back to Ryder to knowing how to feel he explained what happened to Kellian leaving out her mouthed words because he was still processing it.

"I guess Amanda wasn't completely lying," Ryder commented.

"Huh?" Leo was confused.

"She betrayed us." Ryder scowled. He then continued, "Kellian was collecting information on us for Ein."

"What if he was just blackmailing her?" Leo asked, not wanting to believe those words.

"We have a class with her soon and you have one with her after. See if she actually betrayed us. Then report back to me." Ryder decided to give her the benefit of doubt.

"Sure," Leo replied.

"I hope she's okay," Carly commented.

"Me too. It would be troublesome if my first friend, aside from Ryder and Leo, was getting blackmailed." Dexter added.

"And even worse if she betrayed us. So sit tight and wait. Her fate depends on what she says to Leo." Ryder stated.

Class Time.

Kellian sat at a table further away from her original one. Kellian stared at her old desk, 'It was so perfect too...'

While the person who swapped seats with her was glaring at her, 'Why the hell is she staring at me. Ugh! That human trash is lucky Lord Ein ordered me to move.'

Kellian had already completed her assignment and placed it on the teacher's desk. Ein was explaining to Heather what was happening when Leo snuck over to Kellian.

"Heyyy~" Leo whispered into her ear.

"W-"

"Shh." He placed a finger on her lips. "Blink twice if you need help."

Kellian stared at him.

"Blink once if Ein is blackmailed you."

She looked away.

"...Do you want us to help you?" Leo figured that was a yes.

She shook her head no.

"Why are you staying with him?" Leo asked.

"All I can say is that you'll find out soon. And I really am sorry... I enjoyed your company... thank you for being my friends but you should forget about me." Kellian's silver eyes were wet as she smiled at Leo one more time before walking over to Ein and his friends.

Meanwhile, before Kellian had walked over Ein and Heather were arguing.

"Why should I care about her safety? You should have just left her with the Alpha's gang." Heather complained.

"Don't call Ryder Alpha," Ein said with disgust.

"Why should I listen to you when you are not listening to me??" Heather pouted angrily

"Come on. She's just a helpless human she won't bother you too much." Ein pleaded.

"But she's a helpless human that is close to you." Heather pouted.

"Fine. I'll spend more time with you and less time with Kellian but only if you make your girls protect her." Ein tried to compromise.

"Deal. I'll have my girls watch her— I mean, watch over her." Heather smiled.

"Good girl." Ein kissed her forehead.

Heather scoffed when she saw Kellian approach.

"Make sure you keep up your end of our deal," Kellian said with a serious expression then left.

"I'll go tell her now." Heather smiled. "Girls, come."

Heather walked out of the classroom and 5 girls followed suit.

"Human, Number 3 said she saw you talking to the Delta. Ein hates them so talking to them is forbidden." Heather said trying her hardest to sound kind.

"I know," Kellian replied not stopping.

"Then why'd you do it? Ugh. The lower ten will be looking after you. And by that I mean they'll be watching your every move and punishing you when you make a mistake." Heather smirked.

"That's not what Ein–"

"Don't say his name!" Heather interrupted.

Kellian stopped walking, "Sigh. Your boyfriend didn't say that, wouldn't he be mad if he found out?"

"The disrespect! Call him Lord or Alpha. Also, how dare you assume he cares about your well being??? He doesn't. He only pities you because you are a weak human. Besides, Ein can't get mad at me." Heather explained confidently.

"If you say so." Kellian tried to walk away. 'This girl is exactly like those mean girls from that one book. It's best to avoid her.'

"Where do you think you're going!? The lady hasn't finished speaking." Number three asked trying to grab Kellian.

Kellian easily flipped the girl over her shoulder, knocking the air out of her. "Oh yeah, I'm not weak." Kellian smiled then walked off.

"What the hell just happened!?" Heather yelled.

Infuriated she started stomping on the girl laying on the floor. "How. Could. You. Lose. To. A. Stupid. Weak. Human! You. Pathetic. Excuse. Of. A. Werewolf!" She stomped on the girl's stomach for every word.

"Lady Heather..." Number 5 called out to her.

"Sigh. Take her to the nurse's office... I want her demoted to the lower ten. She's not worthy of being number 3 anymore. We'll host a grading event this lunch. So tell everyone to prepare for battle. Including ex-number 3." Heather demanded.

"Yes, ma'am." The girls responded.

Heather went back to class.

"Why do we have to listen to her? It's not like we were all omegas." A girl, Number 5, complained.

"Don't question your choices now, number 5. We all chose to follow her when she chose to become an omega so she could be the Omega female." Number 2 reminded.

"Because we were friends! But look at us now she doesn't even remember our names..." She said disappointed.

"You can quit if you want someone will take your place. And you'll forever be a regular Omega." Number 2 tried to scare Number 5 into staying.

"I'm going to lose and not get a place. She'll be so disappointed and remove me from the gang. I don't want anything to do with her anymore. If you're smart you'd leave too. And calling each other numbers is weird." Number 5 smiled.

"Mint!" Number 2 yelled.

"I'll finally get to focus on what I love. Don't worry about me." Mint said smiling.

"If you throw your matches you'll get hurt!" Number 2 was desperate to get her to stay.

"I know. A small price to pay for my freedom. Take good care of Hailey for me. Make sure she knows I left on purpose." Mint walked away.
