Kellian's eyes fluttered open.
'Monday... Mom said I should go to school today.' Kellian got out of bed then looked at herself in the mirror.
'The cuts have mostly healed and the bruises are almost gone. I can definitely cover them up and go to school today.' Kellian then got ready for school.
'I'm going to be a little hot but it's fine. I wonder if the guys noticed my absence.' Kellian said looking at her outfit consisting of sweatpants and an oversized sweater.
'I can't wear jeans because it hurts too much... I hope no one finds my outfit weird.'
She went downstairs and made breakfast for her mother and then herself. After she ate she left.
Kellian arrived late because her bruises were still sore and hurt when she walked so she walked slower than normal. And the teachers actually taught today so the guys and Kellian haven't spoken to each other yet.
Lunchtime.
They finally met up in a hallway.
"Kelly! Are you okay? The teachers said you were sick but you were gone for a long time!" Leo asked, worried.
"Yeah, I–"
"Sick? She doesn't look sick to me." Ryder interrupted her as she was replying to Leo.
"That's because I'm better now." Kellian laughed awkwardly.
"And what's with the get-up? It's not even that cold." Ryder questioned, casually leaning against the wall. His cold electric blue eyes filled with suspicion.
"I–"
"Stop interrogating her! She just got back from being sick." Leo scolded Ryder while grabbing onto her shoulders causing her to wince in pain.
Ryder who had his eyes on Kellian noticed her reaction just now. This just pushed his suspicions into overdrive. Now he strongly believed something was up and her walking slower wasn't just a coincidence either.
"Kellian," Ryder said in a very serious voice. "What happened? And do not lie to me."
"What are you... talking about?" Kellian laughed awkwardly trying not to blow her cover.
Ryder brought them into an empty classroom.
"Run," Ryder said one word as he locked the door.
"W-why?" Kellian asked trying to seem oblivious to what Ryder's doing.
"Just do it." Ryder glared at her.
"Ryder, what are you doing?" Leo asked confused.
Ryder didn't reply. He kept his eyes on Kellian. For once he was able to read her...she's lying through her teeth and having a hard time doing it.
Kellian tried her best to power through the pain and run but she ended up limping and it was quite obvious she was hurt.
"Stop. Come here and pull up your sleeve." Ryder commanded.
"What? I–" She looked to Leo for help but he realized what Ryder was doing and was now on his side.
"Do it. If you're really fine there shouldn't be a problem."
She pulled up her sleeves and revealed the many small cuts and a few bruises on her arms.
The three boys gasped. Ryder knew something was up but...he never expected it to be this bad.
"Ready to answer the question now?" Ryder clenched his fists.
"I uh... fell down the stairs..." Kellian gave an awkward smile.
"Kellian... Stop lying to me do these wounds look like they could be from falling down the stairs." Ryder grabbed her arm and showed it to her.
"..." Kellian stared at the floor.
Ryder stared at her, "Lift your shirt."
"What I–"
"Do it."
She did as she was told revealing even more bruises and cuts. There were a lot more bruises and cuts on her torso. The bruises seemed to be even worse than the ones on her arms.
"Still expect me to believe you got these from falling down the stairs?" Ryder asked, raising an eyebrow.
"..." She remained silent avoiding their eyes.
"Was this done by a person?" Leo asked, worried.
"It was."
"Is it because you're human?"
"Probably."
"How'd you hide this from your parents?" Ryder asked, curious how it was possible.
"..." She remained silent.
'Every time she goes quite it means her answer is related to the incident. Putting two and two together it's pretty obvious... Or is it? I need more.' Ryder thought of a question that would get him closer to the answer, "Will you at least tell me what that person used?"
"A whip and a metal pipe."
"Were they trying to kill you!?" Ryder yelled out of anger.
"No, she–" Kellian caught herself and stopped talking.
"I see." Ryder didn't need any more he was sure.
"Why do they look so old. You got them on Friday right?" Leo asked.
"I heal really quickly," Kellian replied in a low voice.
Ryder was busy thinking, 'It was her mother. I don't know what her father was doing but it was most definitely her mother. She abused her and caused these marks. But what I don't understand is why they look like they are at least three-week old injuries. No matter how fast a human or werewolf can heal it wouldn't look like...that. But she isn't lying we saw her arms Last week and they were fine.'
Ryder clenched his fists until his knuckles turned white, 'That woman doesn't deserve to be called a mother. She doesn't even deserve to be called human... No, her mom's probably a wolf... by the smell of wolf on her belongings Why would she do this to her child? Because she's human?...No this... is too much. There's no way she'd do this because of a reason like that.'
'Did Ryder's eyes just turn purple? No, I'm seeing things they're clearly blue. But... Why does he seem so mad?' Kellian was confused.
"Ryder. Should we take her to the nurse?" Leo asked, a worried look on his face.
"No. She'll definitely ask questions. I'd do it myself but they seem to be all over her body." Ryder replied.
"Then what do we do?"
"Magic," Ryder stated, taking out an amulet from his pocket.
"You're right! The healing magic of witchcraft should fix this right up." Leo said excitedly.
"We're going to the nurse's office."
"But–"
"Don't worry about it. Ryder's got a plan." Leo said with a reassuring smile after cutting Kellian off.
Ryder scooped her up bridal style.
Kellian was surprised at first. She hadn't been carried like this since her father's death. She missed this feeling but didn't want to admit that she liked it.
So she mumbled, "I have feet you know."
"Do you want to walk?" Ryder raised an eyebrow.
"... No." Kellian pouted.
When they arrived Leo knocked on the door.
"Come in." The nurse said lazily.
"My friend got hurt so I'm borrowing this room," Ryder stated walking in like he owns the place.
"How long?" The nurse asked respectfully after hearing Ryder's voice.
"Rest of lunch should be good."
The nurse wrote up pink slips for them all, smiled at Ryder then left.
"Now what?"
"I use this." Ryder kissed the amulet then tossed it across the room.
Soon a tall beautiful woman with long orange hair and sparkling green eyes fell out of the amulet when it was still in the air. She was about 6" feet tall.
Her current name is Jinx Payne. She is a witch that belongs to Ryder. She is well endowed in magic *cough* *cough* among other things *cough* *cough*.
"Ouch. Why'd you throw the amulet?" She complained stomping over.
"Cause you tried to kiss me last time," Ryder said collecting the amulet from her.
"Hmph." She pouted.
Ryder ignored her and pointed at Kellian, "Heal her."
"Huh?" Jinx looked and the girl. She was short, cute and had special eyes. Why is Ryder helping her?
"You're here to heal her." Ryder sat down and took out his phone.
'Why are you acting like I'm going to do it??? I didn't even agree yet!' Jinx yelled at him in her head but did as she was told anyway. "Oh... Come with me." She dragged Kellian to one of the rest areas with curtain partitions.
"No peaking now boys I need to remove her clothes to heal those bruises." She said winking as she drew the curtain shut.
With the snap of her fingers, Kellian was in her underwear.
Both girls gasped. Kellian was shocked she was stripped so easily and Jinx was shocked by the bruises and cuts.
"How'd you get so hurt? And what took you so long to get healed!?" She yelled.
"..." Kellian remained quiet.
"Fine if you won't tell me I'll find out myself." She said summoning a raven.
The raven circled around Kellian then returned to Jinx. It perched on her head. Kellian stared at Jinx confused.
"What these are only a few days old!? Also, your life sucks."
"Mmmm. Let's start the healing process." Kellian stated not wanting to talk about it.
Jinx placed her hands on Kellian chest, "What are you doing!?"
"Healing you what does it look like?" Jinx asked in a mocking tone. "It's not like I'm interested in those tiny things anyway. I mean have you seen my girls. Although Ryder may be into them."
"What's that supposed to mean?" Kellian asked not liking this lady's tone.
"It means he's showing you more attention than he shows me. And you're definitely not prettier than me. So the only I can think of is your flat chest." Jinx explained.
"One. I'm not flat and that's really rude and perverted of you to say. Two. You're just jumping to conclusions without evidence." Kellian stated upset.
"You're definitely blind if you can still call those boobs standing next to me," Jinx said proudly.
"Besides, you are forgetting that everyone out there is a werewolf and can hear everything you're saying." Kellian looked at their silhouettes. 'It's definitely possible they aren't that far and Jinx isn't really being quiet and the werewolf super hearing thinks would allow them to hear her clearly.'
"So what? Now they know just how tiny your–"
"Whatever. Just do your stupid healing and put my clothes back on." Kellian commanded now very conscious of the fact that the boys are most likely hearing everything.
"So bossy! You're not my boss little... huh?" Jinx was in the middle of complaining when she realized that her familiar couldn't identify her species.
"What now?" Kellian asked annoyed.
"Oh... haha... it just took a while for my familiar to decide that you're a human haha." Jinx laughed awkwardly.
"Okay?" Kellian was confused about why that was such a big deal.
"And...It's...done?" Jinx was confused with those injuries it should take at least thirty minutes to finish but it was done in just 10.
"Yeah so... my clothes," Kellian stated realizing the witch wasn't putting her clothes back on.
"Right," Jinx said snapping her finger's and Kellian was clothed again.
Kellian walked over to the guys and Jinx called Ryder over. "Ryder, come here. We need to talk."
"Whoa you're completely healed and so quickly! Jinx has gotten better." Leo complemented Jinx's magic.
"..." Kellian remained quiet with an annoyed look on her face.
"Ummm... You don't like her?" Leo asked.
"Why would I? She's rude and perverted. Didn't you hear?" Kellian asked.
"Uhh... Yeah of course I heard. Haha." Leo laughed awkwardly.
"...You didn't hear anything. Good." Kellian smiled happily.
"My sense of hearing is.... below average for werewolves." Leo frowned.
'Does this mean I was wrong and they didn't hear or was it just Leo?' Kellian had to know, "I see. Did you hear Dexter?"
He nodded in response.
"Oh... At least you won't say anything." Kellian smiled.
Jinx's and Ryder's conversation.
"She's a human?" Jinx asked.
"That should be obvious," Ryder replied
"My familiar said she's unidentified. She's not normal. I would keep my eye on her if I were you. Just a warning." Jinx crossed her arms.
"Jinx... What was that conversation with Kellian earlier?" Ryder asked is eye twitching out of anger.
"You actually heard that?" Jinx was shocked.
"You didn't believe her?" Ryder asked.
"I thought she just wanted me to shut up. Haha. I was just teasing her... I'm not jealous of her or anything." Jinx smiled.
"Sure. I definitely believe you." Ryder rolled his eyes.
"You don't have to be like that." Jinx frowned.
"I don't like you because you're a witch so don't bully her..." Ryder stated, turning to leave.
"Still you do care about her more than any other girl ever," Jinx said matter-of-factly.
"Not "ever". There was someone I cared about when I was younger. She reminds me of that someone and it makes me feel bad for her." Ryder stated. "Also why did you search her memories I told you not to do that anymore."
"I was suspicious of her wounds and she wouldn't say anything. So I checked." Jinx pet her familiar as she said that.
"Her "mother's" a werewolf and she did that to her," Jinx stated.
"I knew this," Ryder replied.
"She tossed her into a tub of lemon water afterwards and left her there screaming in pain until she passed out," Jinx added.
Ryder broke the medical tray table next to him with one swift motion.
"Fix that." He commanded turning to leave again.
"Your eyes..." Jinx was shocked his ultima ability was able to make his eyes purple.
"I know. It's not enough to do anything...yet." Ryder explained. "Just fix the table and leave." Ryder started to walk off.
"Wait. Take this." Jinx grabbed and handed him something.
"A bracelet?" Ryder asked staring at the bracelet he received. It was quite a pretty piece of jewelry.
"Give it to her. I just want to... test something." Jinx stated before turning her attention to the table.
Ryder pocketed the bracelet then walked back over to the others being careful not to look any of them in the eyes just in case.
"Water." Ryder said one word but Dexter understood.
He nodded then ran outside to find Ryder some water.
"I'm going with him." Leo said the ran after him.
There was an awkward silence that Ryder broke, "Your mother... Do you... love her?"
"I do."
"Do you think she's a good person?"
"She can be."
"Would you be sad if she wasn't with you anymore?"
"Probably."
"Sigh..." Ryder sighed.
"The witch told you, right? Don't worry about it. Okay? I'm sure there's a reason why mom did this. She loves me somewhere deep in her heart."
"What if she doesn't?" Ryder can't understand how Kellian could say such a thing.
"I'd still love her. She's the reason why I'm here after all." Kellian smiled bitterly.
"Mhm." Ryder couldn't understand her at all and decided to change the topic. "You don't have a phone?"
"Nope." Kellian replied.
"I see."
The boys came back.
"Thanks." Ryder said accepting the box of milk from Dexter.
"There was no water." Leo explained handing Kellian a soda.
"Thank you." Kellian accepted it.
"You should go to class now." Ryder said opening the door for her.
"Okay. See you guys later." Kellian said goodbye.
"Later!" Leo yelled.
After walking for a bit Kellian realized she was lost, 'I should have paid attention when Ryder was carrying me... I think I'm lost.'
