After dinner, they drove to the park. Still scared of flying off the moped Kellian hugged onto Ryder the entire time.
They reached the park rather quickly, bought drinks and went over to the kids' section to wait for Ryder's friend.
"I'm gonna go buy a hotdog," Kellian said after two minutes of sitting.
"We just ate." Ryder looked at her with judging eyes.
"But I can't drink anything without eating," Kellian explained.
"Don't worry we'll wait for you," Leo responded before Ryder could say anything.
On the way back after ordering her hotdog she encountered a scene. She decided to watch for a bit before stepping in just in case she was mistaken.
There were three boys all with brown hair, a boy with black hair on the ground crying and a blonde boy with a small white Pomeranian facing the three boys with brown hair.
"Look guys the pup's got a puppy." The boy that seemed to be the leader of the trio teased.
"It suits him perfectly!" A boy from the trio stated.
"Just as small and puny!" The other boy from before added.
"Stop Bullying Josh." The blonde boy commanded.
"What if we don't want to?" The leader asked.
The blonde boy tightened his first and tried to look serious.
"Awww! Is the wittle baby gonna cry? The boy from before teased.
"As alpha, I command you to stop being mean!" The blonde boy yelled.
"Did you hear him? He's commanding us as alpha!" The leader said cueing the others to laugh.
He asked after laughing with the others, "Who do you think you are?"
"You're not only small but weak and a horrible leader to boot. You are nothing to us!" The boy that keeps adding statements added.
"B-but— I was chosen to be your alpha! So you must obey." The blonde boy explained.
"Like hell we do! Do you think just being an alpha makes you better than us!?" The leader yelled.
"Can you even make us obey?"
The blonde boy looked down.
"I didn't think so. You are nothing like your brother or father." The leader stated.
"Maybe he was adopted?"
"No. Mr. Rhodes would never accept an adopted child... He must be a bastard his mother had with someone else!" The leader concluded.
"I'm... not. I am my father's son." Liam said on the verge of tears.
"Then explain why you're a weak crybaby while they are powerful alphas?" The leader asked.
"I..." The blonde boy began to cry.
"His crying is annoying! Let's shut him up!"
And with that one of the boys punched the boy with the dog in the face while the leader kicked him in the stomach. The dog started barking at the boys.
"Ugh! This stupid mutt is giving me a headache!"
The third boy who was mostly quiet before kicked the dog causing it to cry.
That was it Kellian couldn't watch any longer and decided to step in.
"What happened? Is he okay?" She wanted them to admit to their crims and so feigned innocence.
"Yeah, he's fine. We were just playing, right?" The leader asked an intimidating look on his face.
The boys nodded except the blonde boy who was panting and holding onto his stomach.
"How old are you boys?" Kellian asked.
"We're all ten." They replied.
"Don't you think you're a little old to be bullying someone for a petty reason like being weaker than you?"
"We weren't bullying anyone." The leader smiled.
"Why's he bleeding? Why is he out of breath? Why is the dog whimpering?" Kellian asked trying to hide how angry she was getting.
"Josh tripped, Liam is just tired and the dog ran into a tree." One of the boys responded.
"You're really good at lying." Kellian smiled charmingly.
"W-what are you t-talking about?"
"I saw you, boys." She explained still smiling.
"Huh?"
"I saw you hit him and kick the dog. I also heard everything." She continued still smiling.
"Uhhh... well... We were... uhhh."
"You've been caught so apologize."
"What?" The leader asked angrily.
"Apologize to them," Kellian repeated with an angelic smile.
"Do you have proof?" The leader asked.
"I do. I recorded it."
"W-what?" The leader was speechless.
"Apologize? No. Get the hell out of here before I kick your asses!" Ryder yelled coming out of nowhere.
"And who the hell are you!?"
"Are you stupid? That's Master Ryder!"
"We're sorry!" The boys screamed while running away.
"Idiot. You should have fought back!"
"I... I didn't need your help you jerk!" Liam shouted then ran away.
"Thank you for the help, Master Rhodes." The boy on the ground thanked.
"What the hell!?" Kellian yelled at Ryder.
"Liam!"Kellian chased after him.
Liam ran for a while finally stopping under a tree. "Why'd you follow me?" He asked turning to face Kellian tears in his eyes.
"Because that butt doesn't know how to help people so I'm fixing his mistakes."
"Butt? Did you just call THE Ryder Rhodes a butt?" Liam asked shocked.
"He could be the president of the universe I'd still call him a butt."
"Well that butt is my brother and he really is a butt. A big one."
"Wait you two are brothers!?" Kellian was surprised. Sure they had similar eye colours but that's it. She would have never guessed the two were related.
"Yeah... He may think he just helped but the bullies get ten times worse when they get embarrassed by someone stronger than them."
"Oh... Then maybe I shouldn't have stepped in... If I didn't he wouldn't have come anyway..." Kellian was saddened by the thought that she could have made his situation worse.
"No! I've never seen anyone take your approach before... It might have worked." Liam noticed and tried to cheer her up.
"Maybe... By the way are you okay?"
"Yeah. Werewolves are pretty tough."
"You know I'm human?"
"Yeah. Your scent is... interesting."
"Oh no don't get me wrong you don't smell bad! You just don't smell like typical humans. Or at least the ones I've met."
"Oh. I wouldn't know. I've never met a human."
"What? But..."
"I know it's weird, but from what I know, both my parents are werewolves."
"That would explain that scent then. You do have the scent of a wolf... Just barely though. It's really hard to notice. Plus that werewolf scent perfume is throwing me off."
"You have a keen nose. No one else but my dad's ever said I smelt like a wolf. I thought he was just making it up to make me feel better about myself." Kellian said with a genuine smile as she recalled her father's words.
"Thank you. I do notice more smells than others. Continuing about your scent... There's something else something strange. I don't know what it is, but it smells... really good."
"Thank you?" Kellian questioned how she should react to that information.
"I'm sorry that came off weird." He apologized backing away after realizing how close he had gotten, "I'm also sorry for invading your personal space and sniffing you like that."
"It's fine... Do you and your brother get along?" Kellian asked changing the topic.
"Sometimes. I strongly dislike him sometimes but I still love him since he's my brother."
"Must be nice. I'm an only child so I don't relate."
"Not really. Sometimes I wish I was born into a different family." Liam confessed.
"I get that Ryder can be really mean but don't you like your parents?" Kellian asked.
"I like my father..."
"What about your mom?"
"She only cares about Ryder."
"Oh."
"Where are my manners! I haven't introduced myself. My name is Kellian, I'm sixteen and I'm your brother's friend... I think."
Liam laughed, "I'm Liam. Ten years old."
"Okay, Liam would you like to talk about your family? It might make you feel better."
"Yeah."
"My mother is not Ryder's mother. Ryder's mother died some time ago when he was little. Later father married mother and Ryder hated her. He still hates her but she adores him. She'll do almost anything he asks her to but in return, she gets more control over his life. While I'm just there a disposable pawn to aid in her plan to befriend Ryder."
"And then there's my father and Brother. They're both really powerful werewolves and everyone expects me to be like them... but I'm not I'm weak. Father may treat me better than my mother does, but he doesn't let me train at all but he lets Ryder trains all the time even though he's already strong." Liam explained.
"That is a really complicated situation. I'm not sure what I'd do if I were you."
"Yeah..."
"...My father died when I was young and his wife, Kaila doesn't like me. She... really doesn't like me." Kellian thought it was only fair she told him something personal too.
"His wife?"
"She says I shouldn't call her mother."
"Does she... um... you know... hit you?"
"You're really smart... I... don't want to talk about it."
"I guess both our mothers suck." Liam let out a pitiful laugh.
"Ummm... Can I have your number? So we can talk again... when I need it."
"Oh I'd love to give you but I don't have a phone. Kaila refuses to buy me one."
"Oh. If you do get one promise you'll give me your number."
"Of course." Kellian smiled brightly.
"Yay! We can go back to my brother now." He said excitedly.
"Okay." Kellian smiled again and held out her hand.
Liam shyly took her hand. They walked hand in hand back to Ryder. When they found him he was cursing up a storm.
"I should have broken those damn bastards' stupid feet as they did to poor Cookie!"
The white fluffy Pomeranian dog limped it's way over to Liam.
"Cookie..." Liam felt guilty looking at his dog that got hurt for his sake.
"If weren't such an idiot she'd be fine! You should have kicked their asses!" Ryder shouted at Liam.
"Stop blaming him!" Kellian yelled at Ryder.
"Blueberry stay out of this! This is completely his fault." Ryder was angry as he stared at his brother.
"Fine, I'll play by your rules. If you were a better big brother and not left Liam alone this wouldn't have happened in the first place!" Kellian defended Liam.
"What did you just say?" Ryder asked about to yell at her.
"Stop mindlessly blaming others unless you're willing to be blamed the same way," Kellian stated.
"Whatever. Liam let's go." Ryder calmed down and returned to his aloof state.
Liam tugged at the end of Kellian's shirt. She bent over and placed her hands on his shoulders.
"Remember, hope is important because it makes the problem less difficult to bear. So never give in to the despair of the present but hope for a better future."
"Okay... Will you be my friend?" Liam asked.
"Definitely." Kellian smiled genuinely.
He quickly hugged her and then ran over to his brother.
"She's human," Ryder stated putting on Liam's helmet.
"Okay."
"Also, You do realize she's older than you, right?" Ryder asked fixing his own helmet.
"Yes."
"She's sixteen."
"I know."
"That's a six-year difference."
"Why are you stating the obvious?"
"Cause it looks like you have a crush on her," Ryder replied.
"We just met. How could I possibly have a crush on her? We just became friends." Liam explained.
"Why'd you hug her?" Ryder asked.
"Friends hug each other."
"I've never hugged Leo."
"You just sound like you're jealous because she's my friend now," Liam stated angrily.
"No. Blueberry isn't anything special. Why would I be jealous of her being your friend?" Ryder asked.
"Why else would you care if I hug her or not?" Liam replied with a question of his own.
"Whatever. Just get on." Ryder gave up.
"Bye Ryder, bye Liam!" Kellian yelled.
"Bye guys." She then said her goodbye to Dexter and Leo and then began to leave.
"Oh no! When did it get so late!? I have run I need to make it there like now!" Kellian thought after checking her watch. She began to run as fast as she could. She somehow made a 30-minute walk into a 10-minute run.
'I'm not that late... Hopefully, Kaila won't be too mad.' Kellian thought arriving at the front door of her house.
