"Y-yes Sir Rhodes!" Hagatha, the lunch lady stuttered. Again she spoke in perfect English but this time her accent was completely gone.
'Was she faking this entire time!?'
She did agree to get Kellian her food but she still hadn't moved. Ryder tapped his long fair fingers on the counter as he glared at her.
She immediately got to work. Everyone's eyes we're on Kellian. Their cold and aloof alpha that doesn't care about anyone but his two friends was helping a random girl that the lunch lady was bulling.
There were many jealous glares from female wolves that have a crush on Ryder. Hagatha was also giving Kellian harsh glares because Kellian had gotten her in trouble with Rhodes family. Ryder noticed Hagatha glaring at Kellian while she worked.
So he threw those malicious glares back at Hagatha tenfold. Hagatha felt extremely intimated after just seconds of being under his gaze and focused on getting Kellian her food.
'Are alpha's really that powerful? She's an adult listening to a teenager... Maybe I should be scared too? No. I should be grateful someone like this is helping me. Maybe he isn't so bad.' Kellian was lost in thought.
Suddenly Ryder turned his attention to Kellian. He noticed how she wasn't the least bit bothered by his presence which most people found overbearing.
She wasn't fangirling either. Her reaction was something he'd never seen before and it confused him. And being unable to predict her thoughts angered him greatly. He began glaring at Kellian. His gaze held great hatred but no malice.
'Nevermind. This guy is just a stupid devil spawn that can't even help someone properly. How can you even hate someone you barely know? Hmph.'
"H-here." She placed the tray of food on the counter, avoiding Ryder's gaze she looked at Kellian expecting her to pay.
"I'm paying." Ryder shoved his credit card towards her.
"O-oh but—"
"But what?" He asked annoyed by her stuttering.
"I c-can't—"
"Just spit it out."
"We can't accept credit cards right now."
"Why?"
"The machine is broken."
"Then get it fixed."
"I'm sorry." She bowed.
"Sigh." Ryder put the card in his pocket and pulled out a leather wallet.
"S-sir?"
"What?" Ryder took out a thousand dollar bill and was handing it to her.
"What!? I can't let you do that!" She pushed away his hand accidentally getting some whipped cream on him.
Ryder stared at his hand. A look of disgust and irritation appeared on his face. His eye twitched.
"Fine. You pay."
Hagatha smiled happily thinking Ryder was talking to Kellian. Ryder immediately realized what Hagatha was thinking.
"Blueberry. Grab your food. We're leaving. She agreed to pay." He wiped his hands with a napkin then accurately threw it away in a bin halfway across the room."
Hagatha's jaw dropped trying to comprehend what just happened as the two walked away.
'How dare they trick me! These stupid brats. The stupid rich kid just had to be the son of one of the most powerful werewolves. And that stupidly beautiful girl must have seduced him!' Hagatha complained, bending the serving spoon in her hand out of anger.
Ryder had both his hands in his pockets as he casually walked beside Kellian. Clown girl from earlier watched them jealously. After she got sick of it (two seconds later) she thought up a plan and got ready to act.
She pretended to walk past Kellian and Ryder. Kellian was too focused on trying to protect her food to notice anyone. Ryder on the other hand saw it from a mile away.
Ryder knew the personality of the girl and was sure if he tried to stop her early she would complain to her mother, the principal. So he decided to let her trip the new girl.
He had spent the free time debating whether to catch Kellian or the food. In the end, he decided to catch the food.
Reason? He knew that the lunch lady was mad and hated girls she found pretty and would most likely poison Kellian if she were to serve her food again. Plus Amanda wouldn't let him get away with interrupting her plan either.
When Kellian started falling Ryder caught the food effortlessly and watched the scene play out.
Trying desperately not to fall Kellian grabbed for anything. However, she still fell. When she hit the ground a loud *rip* was heard.
"Ouch. Huh?" Sitting up, Kellian realized she had some pink fabric in her hand, confused she looked around.
"My dress!" The clown girl screeched. Her pink dress made of luxurious fabrics had been ripped exposing her pink and white underwear.
Ryder remained indifferent to the situation. He didn't even spare Amanda a glance. He held the food tray in one hand and helped Kellian up with the other. Next, he handed her the tray then stuffed his hands back into his pockets.
Kellian felt bad about clown girl's dress but what could she do? Meanwhile, everyone else burst out in laughter. Clown girl's face turned red with anger and embarrassment. When she realized people were starting to take pictures she ran out of the room crying.
Ryder continued to lead Kellian to his usual table. There was a werewolf there that Kellian did not recognize. He had a warm skin tone, dark brown hair and eyes. He was about 6'2" tall. He had a chiselled face and was pretty muscular.
"This is the new friend I was telling you about!" Leo had a bright smile on his face as he said that.
"You sure?" The werewolf raised an eyebrow.
"Yes!" Leo nodded excitedly.
"A girl?" The werewolf was confused, to say the least.
"Mhmm Mhmm." Leo's smile was winsome like a child eating cake for the first time.
"Did you get over—"
"Nope. It's not as bad when it's her. That's why I want to be her friend. Also, I want to keep it a secret for now." Leo explained with a more serious expression.
"Okay. As long as you talk for me as much as possible." Dexter agreed.
"Of course. I know you're self-conscious about it so I won't mention it nor will I put you in a difficult spot." Leo smiled reassuringly.
"Thank you." Dexter had a soft smile.
"No problem."
Kellian and Ryder arrived at the table and sat down.
"Kelly! This is Dexter. He doesn't talk much."
"I see. I'm Kellian." She introduced herself with a polite smile.
Dexter nodded with a slight smile.
"He says nice to meet you." Leo interpreted.
"Nice to meet you too." She smiled happily.
"Ew," Ryder stated with a look of disgust.
"What?" Kellian was confused.
"Why's everyone smiling so much?"
"Because we're happy to have new friends?" Leo replied.
"Well stop. It's gross."
'What is with this guy? Even seeing people happy makes him mad. Is he secretly the Grinch or something?' Kellian complained in her head.
"Aren't you greedy?" A few minutes later Ryder commented staring at Kellian eating her food.
"Excuse me."
"Ignore him he's just teasing you." Leo tried to defend Ryder's behaviour.
"Am I?"
'This jerk! What the hell is his problem? He won't even let his friend make him look nicer!'
"Ryder's just jealous he can't eat like us," Leo explained.
Ryder crushed the milk carton in his hand as a devilish smile flickered across his face. In a split second his expression returned to its usual aloofness as he cleaned his hand and the table with a paper towel.
He disposed of the carton and paper towel then went to buy another milk carton from a vending machine outside.
"As you can see, he is very jealous. He has a strict diet and doesn't like seeing people eat what he can't. He's basically just repeating what he was told. So please just ignore it as I told you to." Leo explained when Ryder left.
Ryder came back with a new milk carton. He sat down and began to drink his milk holding the carton in one hand and scrolling through his phone with the other.
"Ummm... Ryder?" Kellian hesitated.
He glanced at her to show he was listening then went back to looking at his phone.
"Why?"
"Why what?" He asked not looking up.
"Why did you help me?"
"Leo told me to." He replied almost immediately.
'Seriously? I can't believe I was trying to be nice to him!' Kellian was getting angry.
"Don't think badly of him. He could have just refused if he wanted to."
"No. Leo, you rarely ask for anything I'd do almost anything you ask me to."
"See he can be nice."
'To you. It seems like he hates my guts.' Kellian replied in her mind.
"He may look all scary and intimidating on the outside like big bad wolf but on the inside, he's just soft and sweet like a tiny kitten," Leo said in one of those baby voices you do when you talk to animals and young children.
"Shut up."
Deciding to ignore Ryder Kellian noticed the bandage around Leo's wrist, "What happened to your wrist?"
"Ryder happened."
"I thought you said he wouldn't hurt you." Kellian had worry in her voice.
Dexter stared at Ryder.
"Don't look at me like that. He did it to himself." Dexter stared even harder prompting him to explain.
"He slipped and sprained his hand when I was pinning him to a wall."
"Why were you pinning him to a wall in the first place?" Kellian asked.
"None of your business. He fell on his own. That's all you need to know."
'Why did I become friends with them again? I feel like being around them is only going to cause trouble but it's too late now. At least it'll be fun... I think.'
Leo took a popcorn kernel and threw it at Ryder. Ryder grabbed a hotdog off a passing kid's tray and threw it at Leo. They started throwing food at each other. Soon Dexter and Kellian joined in and a food fight had begun.
