Chapter 18 - A Field of Butterflies

I swear I feel something crawling on me.

I started swatting at my nose. Something jumps from my nose onto my hand and I shoot my eyes open.

You won't believe the creature I saw, staring me in the eye, relaxing on my hand.

A. Fucking. Roach.

"AHHHHHH," I screamed my lungs out. I flicked the creature off of me and ran out of the cabin. I ran through the pack house and all the way to my room, teared my clothes off, leaped into the shower, and scrubbed until I was pink, which takes a lot of effort considering my skin tone.

While taking a shower, I was so paranoid. Anytime I thought I felt something crawling on me, I screamed or jumped. I was shaking from trauma.

Guys, I'm not overreacting. That thing could have killed me.

OMFG! What if it peed in my mouth?

I jumped out of the shower after wrapping a towel around me and started brushing my teeth. I accidentally almost choked on my toothbrush.

When I open the door to the bathroom that connected with my room, Alaric was sitting on my bed, admiring my collection of knives. A breeze from a window in my room reminded me I was naked.

"Are you ok now from your mini heart attack," he asked me. I saw his eyes skim over me, but he shyly looks away with a blush. "How are you so scared of cockroaches, but your a witch with powers and stands up to anyone? You can fight wolves all day, but you run away from a little bug?"

"That was not a little bug. It was the size of a puppy." Alaric laughs at me.

"Your exaggerating. It was a thousand times smaller than that." I ignore him and go through my dresser to find something to wear.

"Dang it. I forgot to do laundry," I say, slapping my forehead. I had some undergarments, but I couldn't walk around the pack house like that.

I guess I still had some shopping to do, but I'm too lazy for that.

"You can wear something from my dresser for now, if you want," Alaric said. "I have some sweatpants and stuff. It's not like you have to go anywhere today."

"That would be great." Alaric runs out of my room and while he's gone, I put on a bra and some underwear.

Sometimes I wish I was flat chested. Boobs are too heavy to carry around.

"Holy Moly," Alaric squeaks out. When I turn around, I see his hands fly up to cover his eyes.

"You could have prevented that by knocking. Stop acting like you've never seen a girl in a bra before.

Alaric goes quite and I see his face deepening in a red shade.

"Wait. You've seen a girl in bra?" I start laughing when the red reaches his ears.

"Shut up, Anne."

"Chill out, man. I'm messing with you. Pass me the clothes so I can end your torture. He throws some clothes in my face and throws himself face first into my bed.

I slip on the pair of black sweatpants and a big, grey graphic t-shirt. The smell of wildflowers from the forest invades my nose. I can't help, but feel warm. I jump onto my bed next to Alaric and left his head up by his hair.

"Awww, your still blushing. All this training on being tough and you still blush at the sight of my boobs," I cooed. "You wanna watch a movie, Fluttershy?"

"Sure." He finally finds the courage to sit up on my bed. I decide on 50 First Dates because you can't go wrong with some Adam Sandler. Alaric lays his head on my lap and I play with his hair.

Every now and then, I would catch him looking at me, but when I looked back down, he'd look away. I could tell he wanted to say something, but he was acting weird.

"What's going on," I ask him the next time I catch him. He sits back up.

"I didn't know you have tattoos" he says. He was talking about the blue and purple butterflies I had fluttering on the spine of my back.

"A reminder of my mom. When I was younger she would fill my room with butterflies when she read me stories. I could never get the spell right. I could only get one or two butterflies. I still can't really get more than five to be honest, but I'm pretty sure that's not what you wanted to ask me."

Alaric looked like he's a deer caught in headlights.

"Your right. I just don't want you to get mad."

"Why would I get mad," I ask him and he gives me a 'Did you really just say that' look. "Hey! I'm not mean. Hit me with your question."

"Fine. What's the situation between you and Taz?"

"Who the hell is Taz," I ask him, already knowing who he meant. I know for a fact he knew Tarry's name.

"You know who I mean. That junior kid you always seem to be with now and days."

"OH! You mean Tarry. Nothing is going on with us."

"I literally saw a hickey you gave him on his neck. How can you say there's nothing going on with you guys?"

"We're just friends. Just because I've kissed him, doesn't mean I'm his girlfriend or anyway committed to him."

"That's so bad. Does he know that," Alaric asks, laughing.

"How is it bad? So, if it were a guy, it would be ok?"

"I didn't mean it like that at all. I just thought that you guys were close. Ever since he came into the picture, I haven't really seen you much." I don't know if my eyes were playing tricks on me, but his eyes were starting to glow hazel.

"Are you jealous, Alaric?" He stayed quiet for a moment.

"Of course not." His left eyebrow did a little dance that told me he was lying.

"Are you sure your not? I can tell you're lying. Your eyebrow jus-." Alaric interrupts me by placing a kiss on my lips. He moves away fast, but I can't help but be sarcastic.

"Do guys have a thing for interrup-." This time Alaric pulls me onto his lap and aggressively places his lips on me.

Oh.

For someone who has never seen a girl in her undergarment, he sure knows how to kiss. He caught me off guard with the first kiss, but this time he gave me time to respond back.

His hands gripped my hips roughly, but I loved it. This kiss was different from all the others I've ever had. I wasn't the one that took initiative this time and I think that made it hotter.

I even tried to take power back from him, but it didn't matter because he still overpowered me. I pushed him back on my bed, but he just pushed me off of him and towered over me.

"Where did the shy Alaric go," I asked, trying to catch my breath. I've never seen his eyes this bright hazel.

"It's my turn for control."

Let's just say, I was able to fill the room with butterflies and not just 2 or 3.

I didn't mean that metaphorically either.

There was literally a field of butterflies in this room.
