There she was sitting there with my dad and Michael, Jason was by her side hugging her to him, they were talking and laughing like as if nothing had happened. My bag fell from my shoulder and hit the floor with a thump, they turned when they heard the sound, I was at the verge of tears "Honey..." she started to say as she walked up to me, but before she could add anything to what she wanted to say I had run out not knowing where I was going.
I ran as fast as my legs could carry me, I had no idea where I was headed and just let my feet carry me anywhere, I could hear them shouting my name calling for me to come back but I turned a deaf ear to their cries. I just ran like a mad woman.
I ran to our school's park and sat down under the big tree I curled myself into a ball and cried my heart out, she couldn't do this to me after leaving me ever so suddenly how could she expect me to just accept her with my arms wide open she must be joking if that's what she was expecting, She had left me during one of the most difficult moments in my life when I needed her the most she had abandoned me and gone when I had scored a goal on my first game she wasn't there, when I had been bullied in school she wasn't there she had never been there for any of my games I don't think she even knows I play soccer. On that faithful night, after I had been saved by that mysterious person I had run out to look for her but she wasn't there she was nowhere to be seen I cried and held on to my dad asking him where she was, but I never received an answer. I had gone to sleep every night that hoping she would just walk in and surprise us, that every time I had that dream she would just come in hugging me and telling me that everything was going to be alright and hug me to sleep.
I kept crying when I felt a drop of rain hit my neck, I stood up and looked up to see that the clouds had darkened and very soon the rain was going to fall, well that was unusual because the weather forecast hadn't said anything was going to happen not forgetting the fact that it was winter. The clouds were even looking weird. I got up searching through my pockets for my phone so I could call Adam or Crystal so they could pick me up but my phone wasn't with me I slapped my head when I remembered that I put it in my bag when I had left school, this was getting me really mad why was I even wasting my tears on her when she didn't deserve it 'urgh' I said as I pulled my jacket on tighter this was really annoying I kept telling myself as I began to walk towards Crystal's house.
I looked at the big story building right in front of me and shook my head four people and such a big house, well they did have relatives that came over during the holidays so I think there might even be more than ten people in that house, I hugged my jacket tighter and used my hand to raise my hair from my face I was soaking wet. I headed towards their front door and pressed the bell,
'Ding Dong', I heard as the bell rang, I waited and prayed that someone be home, I closed my eyes and raised my hands when the door opened and Crystal's mom saw me "Hello Mama" I said shivering as she ushered me in and saw my state some words flew out of her mouth which I couldn't understand until she spoke in English shouting "My Father, My Maker" I smiled that was so typical of her she tended to be so dramatic in some moments and this was one of them.
"Mom, what happened?" Crystal asked as she flew down the stairs, without waiting for a reply she ran to me and some few words flew out of her mouth similar to what her mother had said before saying anything she pulled me into a hug her mother pulled her back and gave her some instructions to which Crystal moved quickly and came back with a towel and a big blanket she gave me the towel and pulled me upstairs towards her room and told me to get into the bathroom and have a shower I got in and took a shower and came out Crystal had given me some of her clothes which I wore and came out she had prepared a cup of warm cocoa and had placed it on the table standing beside it, I walked towards it and took it allowing the heat to blow on my face I took a sip and almost melted on the spot she came closer to me and gave me a blanket I wrapped it around me and sat on her bed she came over and sat beside me all the while glaring at me,
"What happened?" she sked still staring at me, I kept on drinking the cocoa without casting a glance to her.
"Come on tell me, what happened?" she asked again urging me to talk. I took in a deep breath and said
"She's back" I muttered, standing up to place the cup on the table. Crystal knew everything about me so me telling her wasn't so difficult I explained it to her and asked
"Do you mind if I sleep here tonight?"
She hesitated before answering I gave her my best puppy eyes before she answered
"Yes you can, but you know you have to face this very soon right?"
She asked I nodded my head and said
"Yes very soon but not now am not yet ready to face her " I said as I crawled on the bed
"Okay" Crystal said as she joined me on the bed.
I woke up the next morning feeling better but with a cold, I didn't think I could go to school today but I did I borrowed a hoodie and jeans from Crystal and got dressed for school, we went down for breakfast and Mama gave me a lecture because of what happened yesterday I nodded my head and said 'yes' to everything she was saying. Crystal's dad dropped us at school on his way to work. We got down and said bye walking towards school I looked around for Adam but he didn't seem to have come to school. He may have called or texted but my phone was at home. I got seated for class when the teacher came in with a new guy.
