CHAPTER 12
Crystal had come home that night and met me in that position she had woken me up and sat next to me telling me everything was going to be alright. I had no idea why I kept crying but it was just that it felt like something was eating me up inside, I should have been happy that she was finally back after all those years but yet I felt so weird or should I say heartbroken. I needed to know the reason why she had suddenly come back after all those years what did she want from me? Or should I say us? I needed to go and talk to her but not now, not when I am looking like this. I need to see her soon but not now I wasn't ready. I wasn't supposed to be crying as in like why was I crying? Why was I wasting my tears on someone who didn't deserve them.
I cleaned my face and sat up I'm not supposed to be like this, I'm supposed to show myself strong so that she can see me and see how well I grew without her in my life I was going to have to meet her very soon.
Crystal and I had a heart to heart talk about everything that night and I had asked her about Luke and she told me everything, she had had a crush on him since the seventh grade but had said nothing about it,
"Why hadn't you told me about it?" I asked
"To be honest I thought you had liked Luke and he liked you back" she said putting her head down
"Who liked Luke?" I asked
"You….."
"Who? Me?" I asked pointing my index finger at myself, ewww that's really disgusting Luke was like a brother to me and there was no way he could like me back we were family and you don't fall in love with family do you? Nah you don't ,and that was exactly what I told her before I asked
"Wait a minute you thought that Luke liked me? Me?..." I said almost shouting before she told me to keep it down to which I apologized and said "Why would you think that Luke pretty much sees me as a small sister"
"I know that now, I don't even know why I had such a thought in the first place" she said while laughing
"Don't worry from now on I'm going to help you in getting the man of your dreams k?" I said as I moved from the bed to grab her hands, since she had moved from the bed to the floor "Okay" she answered smiling at me and I smiled at her.
For some time I had not been in school after that night, so I had no idea if Adam had come back to school or not I had told Crystal who had gone to school after that day to tell Coach I wasn't going to be around for a while and she kinda did considering the fact that she ditched school and came back to meet me which earned her an earful from Mama

It had been a week since I had left home and was staying over at Crystal's house. I knew that Mama was curious and wanted to know what was happening, but didn't want to pressure me about it and let me stay.

I missed Adam to the extent that it almost drove me crazy but I wasn't in the right condition to go to school and whenever I asked Luke he never answered me but always gave me information about the team,
'Rubbish boy' I said to myself every time he came by.
It was Saturday and I woke up with a slight headache, I got into the bathroom to wash up, opening the shower I let the water run down my body I shut my eyes and lifted my face to the warm water and heard some whispers, some voices calling out ever so softly, 'Help me' 'Save me' I opened my eyes ever so slowly looking around to see where the voices had come from but there was no one around and Crystal had gone to sleep in one of the guestrooms downstairs after that night so I was left alone upstairs in her room. I felt a cold shiver run through my body like I was in a freezer, I got out really quickly and stretched my hand to grab my towel and saw it clearly float in front of me before landing in my hand and trust me when I say I had wanted to run out screaming like a mad woman but I held myself back, this had happened last time too but I thought it was just an illusion and had ignored it, besides the window had been opened today so it could have been a trick played by the wind, right? Shivering I stepped out of the shower hugging the towel closely, Mama had provided me some necessities after Crystal had explained it to her, so I moved to the closet and picked some
clothes and those voices came again,
'Save me...'
'Help me....'
I felt a cold shiver run down my spine again, but this time it felt like the voices were so close, closer than before like it was by my ear, I got nervous and dressed quickly, I almost flew downstairs while saying the Lord's prayer,
"Our Father, Who art in heaven...…" as I closed my eyes and lifted my hands,
"Hallowed be thy name...….."Walking as fast as my legs could carry me
"Thy kingdom come...…" I bumped into Crystal and I am pretty sure I had a weird look on my face because when she saw me her face emitted the same expression I had on my face, I think? But she also looking as freaked out as I was is the point here, I didn't even waste my time and walked ahead pulling her with me,
"Can you hear them too?" I asked as we came to a stop by the kitchen island,
"Hear what?" she asked looking behind me
"The sounds? Didn't you hear them?" I asked
"I didn't hear anything ooo" she said
"Then why did you follow me when I was running I thought you had seen or heard something, that was why you had followed me?" I asked glaring at her
"Well I didn't, I only followed you because you pulled me along and not forgetting the fact that from where I come from you run when you see another person run" she said lost in thought, I snapped my fingers to bring her back to me, I opened my mouth about to say something when we heard the bell ring
'Ding Dong'
"Who's that?" I asked "Are you expecting someone?"
"Nope, are you?" she asked
I looked at her "Do I look like I would be expecting someone?" I asked thinking about how stupid she could be in some cases, I urged her forward to go check Who it was.
It couldn't possibly be dad right? Neither could it be Michael nor Jason, Luke would never rat me out would he? All these thoughts went through my mind as Crystal went ahead to check the door it couldn't possibly be Mama she had gone out to hang out with her friends and Crystal's dad wasn't around at the moment.
So who could it possibly be? Oh it could be Luke, I thought until crystal called me out and I came out peeping a little through the door, as soon as I saw who it was I ran out and jumped on him, as I wrapped my leg around his torso.
It was Adam.
He turned me around smiling into my hair and all those feelings came back, warmth spread through my body and something new was there but I couldn't describe it, the feeling felt so foreign that before I could place my finger on it and describe it, it was gone again, just like that. I leaned back and kissed him to which he kissed me back only for all those feelings to become more intense, I felt hot all over, I wanted to deepen the kiss but couldn't when I heard Crystal clear her throat.
With the way she sounded it was like she was daring us to continue so she could kill us, I smiled and pulled him to the living room as he waved to Crystal.
"What are you doing here?" I asked
"Well, I asked Luke what had happened and he didn't tell me anything so I asked him where you were and he still didn't tell me anything so I went over to your house and met your dad and a lady I introduced myself and asked where you were but they told me they had no idea, before your lil bro told me to check Crystal's house and directed me, so here I am" I was already in his arms by the time he was done I turned and made myself comfortable, putting my two legs by his side so that I was straddling him and wrapped my hands around his neck settling into him I groaned and relaxed, he felt so warm.
"You are going to have to tell me what happened you know?" he said as he rubbed his hand up and down my sides which made me almost melt into his touch. I needed to tell him everything and so I did "She's back" I said telling him everything that happened that day, by the time I was done I was sitting on his lap and he was hugging me.
"You know you are going to have to face her one day right?" he asked
"I know, but that soon doesn't mean now" I answered as I fumbled with the hem of his shirt,
"I'm sorry but that soon means now" he said standing up and grabbing my hand
"I am taking you home".
