Chereads / Zeus — Mythology Series #1 / Chapter 10 - Chapter Eight

Chapter 10 - Chapter Eight

Hestia is in her room and examining the dagger given to her by the sorcerer.

"Why do I have to kill the baby?"

"What baby?"

Hestia was shocked when Demeter suddenly entered her room. She immediately hid the dagger in her pocket and approached her sister.

"Don't you know how to knock?!"

"Your door is open so I came in. It's not my fault that you left your door open. So what about that baby you were talking earlier?"

Hestia adjusted her clothes first then sat on her bed.

"You don't have to know."

"Why do you look so scared?"

It was only then that Hestia noticed that she was sweating because of nervousness.

"I'm not."

"If you are not afraid, you will tell me the truth."

"It's none of your business Demeter. Get out of my room."

Demeter didn't complain and left Hestia's room. But before she could leave completely, she said something that made Hestia even more nervous.

"Do not rush into what you are planning Hestia. You may be doomed."

"What—"

Demeter closed the door completely leaving Hestia in complete mess.

"It made me even more confused. What am I gonna do now?"

Hera was just lying in her garden when she was suddenly surprised when Demeter suddenly appeared next to her.

"You surprised me!"

"Well, sorry not sorry. What are you doing here?"

Demeter sat down next to Hera.

"Nothing. I just want to be alone sometimes."

"Oh did I messed your alone time?"

Hera laughed and slapped Demeter on the shoulder. The goddess remembered that she had not yet told her sister that she was pregnant. This is probably the right time to tell her this.

"Demeter?"

"Why do I feel like you have something bad to say?"

"No silly, it's actually good news."

"Really?"

Demeter changed her position and waited for the good news that her sister would tell her.

"What is it?"

"I'm pregnant."

Shock. The goddess was shocked when she heard the news.

"Really? Congratulations sister!"

"Thank you Demeter. I would have told Hestia earlier but she doesn't seem to be in the mood."

Demeter immediately panicked. She seems to already know Hestia's purpose but she still tries to convince herself that her suspicion is not true.

"Enter that room first. Pregnant women can't get tired."

"I'm fine here. I'll enter later. You can go ahead."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah."

Demeter nodded and entered the palace. She immediately went to Hestia's room.

"Hestia!"

"What?! Lower your voice Demeter I'm taking a nap!"

The goddess approached her sister and sat her down violently.

"What's your problem?!"

She grabbed her by the collar of her dress and Hestia tried to remove Demeter's hand.

"Let me go Demeter! What's going on with you?!"

Hestia could do nothing but use her power to remove Demeter's grip on her. Demeter backed away and fell. Hera quickly got up and went to the corner of her room.

"What's wrong with you?!"

"I know what you're planning Hestia."

Hestia suddenly got silent. She's nervous about what Demeter would say next.

"What do you know?"

"For heaven's sake Hestia! You know what I'm thinking right now and I keep on telling myself that it's not true because I know you can't kill an innocent life!"

Hestia couldn't say anything now that her sister already knew what she's planning to do. There's no escape.

"Demeter let me explain."

"Explain what?! Don't try to explain Hestia because—"

"That baby is going to kill Hera!"

Demeter was surprised by what Hestia said.

"What did you just said?"

"The baby that Hera will give birth to will kill her. The sorcerer said that and—"

"and you're the one that's going to kill the baby."

"Yes."

"I won't let you."

Hestia looked up and couldn't believe what her sister said.

"What?! You'll just let Hera die? What kind of sister are you?!"

"A sister that will not allow to lose the baby that is bestowed on Zeus and Hera. I'm not like you so if you're planning to kill the baby, you better not do it if you don't want to ruin our sisterhood."

Demeter left Hestia's room. The goddess sat down and cried.

"What am I gonna do now?"
