Chapter 43 - Darkness Descending

As the car pulled into the drive Sara looked at a truck that was parked in front of the house. "Frank are we expecting guests?" The man looked at the truck before slamming on the brakes. He pulled out his phone, and after a brief conversation too low for her to hear, before driving into the garage. "Everything is alright Madam. The truck is one of ours." Sara nodded before exiting the car. As she walked into the house she noticed that none of the staff was around like normal. As she walked into the large living room she saw Sean laying on the couch. As she walked over to him she noticed the red on his arm. Immediately turning on the light next to him, Sara looked at the arm that was actually bleeding. "Turn the light off" Sean groaned, not opening his eyes, "I told you not to bother me until my wife gets home."

"Oh so you can cover up your scars and other wounds from me?" Sara immediately countered causing Sean to bolt up to look at the woman, subconsciously covering his arm. Sara noticed the action before walking to the bar. After returning with a medicine kit she sat down on the table across from him. "Give me your arm." Sara said looking at the wound. "It is nothing. Just a scratch" Sean countered, in almost a whisper. "A scratch that is almost as long as your forearm, great joke." Sara then reached out for the arm. Sean immediately grabbed her hand, "Honey it's fine." Sara glared at him before pulling out the pistol from her purse setting it down next to her, "give me your arm or I make you clean up the bloody mess you made on the couch" Sean chuckled before holding out the injured arm. Sara careful cleaned and bandaged the wound, not failing to notice that Sean didn't even flinch when she used disinfectant. When she finished she looked at Sean who was just looking at her gently. "Take off your shirt"

"Honey I don't think this is the time for that." Sean chuckled. Sara glared at him not realizing that her angry glare just made Sean think she was cute. "If you are trying to hide this from me then what else are you hiding? So once again take off your shirt." Sean smiled at her, "the doctor already came by and patched those wounds up." Sara stood up and leaned over Sean, putting one leg on the couch beside his. "Oh so you were trying to hide this from me?" She stated before putting her hand on his shoulder causing him to wince from the sudden pain. "So what other wounds does my husband want to hide, or I wonder is he trying to hide something else." Sara stood up before walking out of the room leaving Sean sitting there in a daze.

Sean quickly snapped out of his daze before getting up to chase her down. Right before Sara could enter the bedroom, she was enveloped in a bear hug. Sean rested his head on his shoulder before breathing in the scent of lavender, rose, and citrus. Sighing he softly said, "I'm sorry. It's been years that I have had to hide these injuries from everyone. So sharing isn't my strongest point." Sara smiled hearing the whisper come from him before softly saying, "Come it's been a late night for us both and I have an early morning." Sean nodded as he let go before following her in the bedroom. The couple quickly took their showers, while Sara laid down Sean began to do yoga. "I heard you destroyed Marcos, Justin and the Hayes futures today." Sara looked up from the book she was reading, "how did you hear? You were so busy with your side of the fight." As sean finished and laid down next to her he chuckled, "Silly, you may run Dearborn now but the news still won't publish things about the company with out asking." Sara glanced over before asking, "so how did they publish that interview with Sebastian? You could've stopped that before hand." Sean nodded before sighing, "part of my advantage so far was that people had underestimated my abilities. If I came out then, I wouldn't have been able to bring the Hayes and Hensons out of the woodwork. I would've only captured Sebastian and they would've immediately left him out to dry."

"Wait you knew Sebastian was against you?" Sean sighed before responding, "Sebastian has been a rival of mine since school days. He always thought that he was better than me. Then Justin got in his ear and he tried his hardest to suppress me every chance he got. When he got a job as an executive in the European branch of Dearborn, he flaunted it all over even though he didn't know where I was he made it very public. So sometimes the best way to crush someone is to let them grow their ego so large. Sebastian was the one that went public with his attainment of the Dearborn CEO position. I know from the phone recordings that he got the idea from Justin when he saw me at the Hughes board meeting." Sara listened intently before responding, "you're too soft. You like playing with your food. I just pull out the oil and fire and watch it burn to ash." Sean chuckled remembering the incident in Nashville. "Speaking of which you owe me a new jacket, Mrs. Chairwoman." Sara smirked before turning off the light, "only when I get my dog."

Across the city at the police headquarters.....

"Boss, all of our confidential informants have gone dark." An older gentleman listened to his subordinate when suddenly his office door was swung open. A man in a black suit walked in before pulling out a badge. Handing it to the older gentleman he said, "I'm Agent Walker from Interpol, and we believe that your confidential informants have something to do with one of our suspects in a European crime king." The officer looked at the badge before calling someone. After receiving a response he looked at the agent, "Mr. Walker why would a European Crime King wipe out our CI's?" The agent sat down pulling out a file, "the man we believe to have done this made his name in Europe but has now seemed to become untouchable. Twice in a week your entire underground information networks have been silenced like someone flipped a switch. This is not something any normal crime lord can do. Only him, so we believe he is our main suspect. Also his main generals, who are just as impossible to link to any crime, where also spotted here. The old man nodded before responding, "do you have any information that we can use to assist you." The agent shook his head, "all we have is a name: The Black Wolf." Suddenly the door to the office was opened, "is there a Agent Walker here?"

"That's me, what is it?" The patrolman looked at them before responding, "there's something out front for you." The agent got up and the older gentleman followed. The two exited the police station to see a box truck parked in front. A group of officer were standing by looking at the truck with the following words painted on the side:

Happy Holidays Agent Walker

Here are your CI's Commander Fuentes

The two man walked to the back of the truck to see the bomb squad ready to open the truck. The two men nodded simultaneously, signaling to the man to open the door. When the door opened they saw all the confidential informants sitting in the back blindfolded and hands tied. After the helped the men and women out of the truck all that was left was a metal box welded to the floor. On the lid it read: Merry Christmas -The Black Wolf. When the lid was opened the officer ran to the back of the truck and started puking. Agent Walker and Commander Fuentes walked up to the box to see the heads of all the major Illegal players in the city stuffed into the box. Agent Walker spoke first, "He purged the entire city." Commander Fuentes looked at the familiar faces that adorned posters on the station walls before saying, "Lagarde was untouched though. Even tho they are small time they are the only organization not represented." Agent Walker nodded looking at the old man, "This is the first time I've seen him do this. What is his goal? Let's leave this to the crime scene team and we'll reconvene in the morning." Commander Fuentes looked at the man as they walked out of the truck, "what does he normally do with CI's he discovers?" Agent Walker looked at the man, "you never hear from them again. He's either toying with us, gone soft or there's something bigger going on. We must've careful with this investigation." Both men began to ponder the words, not knowing the true darkness descending on the city.
