Within a few hours they were in Washington DC. They took a helicopter to the White House, for the matter was most urgent. They walked through many flashing cameras until they were at the Oval Office. There were many reporters and photographers around them as they went live and the President opened his mouth to speak. "My fellow Americans. As you know, the world is experiencing the greatest heat wave in history. It is with a heavy heart that I can officially confirm that the world…is ending." There was much gasping and murmuring in the room, followed by questions such as, "Mr. President. What are your sources for making such a claim?" The President looked at Eva, who nodded. Then he bravely faced the crowd again. Because my officials and I—have encountered God." There was both shock and laughter in the room. "Is this a joke?" They began to say. "I know you won't take my word for it, so let me introduce to you Eva. She-is a Goddess..." The President began to get nervous as everybody laughed him to scorn. "Everyone, quiet!" Yelled Sergeant Marshall. "Seriously, if you're a god, then show us a miracle!" One reporter said as he got the camera ready. "She will, but not in the way you might think." Vice President Henry began, then said, "She is about to make the ultimate sacrifice for us all. She will be sent to a secret lab and induced into a dream state. And the virtual reality she will enter will be controlled by God himself. As you know, it is still impossible for us to create such a life-like virtual reality to this intensity and magnitude. The proof that God exists is the very world that you are about to see; one we will prove that is beyond our control to create and manipulate. And the proof that she is a Goddess will be how she handles all of these impossible trials. In such a way that no human ever could."
They began to murmur amongst themselves, until one woman asked, "How will we get to participate in this little experiment? How will we be able to see what's going on?" "Eva's journey will be broadcasted on live TV, 24/7 for the world to watch. We have also set up many podcasts and discussion groups to help raise awareness for this mission." "So just to clarify, Mr. President, the purpose of this experiment is for us to believe in God and that the world's really ending? With all due respect, what's the point if we're all about to die anyways?" One reporter asked. "God has an answer for that, and it is this…" The President began with the story of their encounter with God and all that he had to say about free will and the necessity to choose between good or evil. Light, or the darkness. And then he went on about the details of the experiment through the Dream Simulator. After the President's account of the situation and the most enlightening words they ever heard, their hearts began to sink.
"So, you're basically going to torture a little girl to prove a point?!" One photographer asked angrily. This is when Eva stepped in. "Please, I'm doing this willingly." Eva began. "You do realize, you're going to forget all of this and get lost in a hellish rabbit hole, right?" "I'm aware of that. But the fact that I will come out of this okay will be the proof that you need to believe that all of this is for real! Please, I don't want anyone to go into the world that I'm about to enter; you'll be stuck there for a thousand years! You just—need to know what you're getting yourself into if you still choose the darkness in the end." When they saw her sincerity and willingness, they solemnly agreed to let this happen.
Eva was then escorted out of the White House and was then headed to a highly secret underground laboratory. In the helicopter; Eva, Kiersten and Lisa were pretty silent. This became so much more real to them when they realized that the entire world was now involved. "So this is really happening. The world that we know and love is over…" Lisa said sadly. "Oh, come on! We're on our way to Heaven! It's got to be a lot better than this place." Kiersten replied. "Yeah, but—I'm afraid of the unknown! This is the only home I ever knew. I don't think I'm ready to leave it yet. I mean, I was planning on going to the college of my dreams and make a wonderful life for myself." Lisa said as she began to cry. "Don't cry. We can trust Leo that all our hopes and dreams will be fulfilled so much more fully in Heaven." Eva said as she dried her tears. Lisa smiled as she gazed into Eva's eyes with appreciation. "Heh, Eva. Since when did you become so poetic?" Kiersten laughed. "Heh, I dunno. I guess all of this is changing me for the better. After all, what this means is that—the family I just lost; that I love and miss so very much, I'll get to see again. And soon!" Eva said happily. "Good point! Thankfully you didn't have to mourn their loss for long." Kiersten said. "Let's not forget that this isn't over." Lisa said as she looked over at Eva. "Eva's about to make a sacrifice. It's going to be a long and miserable journey; for all of us." Lisa said. They all sat quietly, pondering Lisa's words until Eva said, "Just don't lose faith. Everything will be alright!" Eva smiled.
When they made it to the laboratory, they went down on the elevator for what seemed like forever. "This really is a top secret place, huh?" Kiersten said nervously. "The best of the best resides here. Along with our finest technology." The President said. When the elevator doors opened, they saw a massive lab that was pristine white and filled with scientists. They were ready for Eva. "This is your last chance to turn back. Are you absolutely sure about this?" Asked the President, almost sympathetically. Eva smiled. "Yes, I am." She said. The scientists then escorted them to a room where a large machine hovered over a silver table. The cameras were rolling as the President made one final announcement before they began. "My fellow Americans, we are currently underground in a secret laboratory where Eva is being prepped for the Dream Simulator. We will allow her to give her final consent." After Eva was dressed in a white gown and had all sorts of cables hooked all over her body; she stood before the camera and said, "This is Eva and I give my consent to this experiment."
Kiersten dried a tear as Eva laid down on the table. Eva was calm. She had a look of peace and serenity on her face. They counted down from 10 to 0 as they dimmed the lights and turned on the machine. They stood skeptically, knowing that their work was not even being close to being finished. But much to their surprise, the machine lit up on its own. There were flashing blue lights and the TV screens turned on by themselves. "What's going on?!" The scientists exclaimed. Suddenly, Eva saw a vision of Leo's face one last time. He kissed her forehead, and she blacked out. The world was glued to their television screens as it went black. Then there was static. The show began.
