"We cannot stay here it's too dangerous" the woman said panicking and looked towards the woman sitting in a chair. "What would you have me do? Our entire coven has been massacred by the townspeople" woman said from her seat looking around the room.
"The townspeople are hunting us as we speak, how are we going to escape them?" another woman said as she peeked out the window. "We have to leave, we will die here if we don't" another woman stated.
The woman who was sitting felt all eyes on her as she was the leader of the small group. "If we are to survive then we need to flee this land" she said with determination. All of the other ladies looked at her and then looked at each other.
"But this is our home, our lives are here, our people are here" a woman said. "Our people are dead!" the woman said getting up from her seat. "We will be too if we continue to stay here" she said with sadness in her voice.
"Where would we go Sara?" the woman asked turning away from the window, Sara looked at the frightened woman and then turned towards the desk with a map on it. "There is a settlement here" Sara said pointing at the map and the other women came around to look.
"What is the name of this settlement?" a woman asked looking at the map, Sara took a deep breath and said "Salem". The woman all looked towards Sara in disbelief, "You want to us to move to a settlement where witch hunts are a sport!" a woman shouted.
"I know it's not ideal but it is the perfect cover" Sara argued but the woman scoffed. "It's suicide Sara!" the woman shouted again and began to pace around the room.
"I wouldn't do this if i didn't have a choice Emily" Sara said and Emily shook her head. "Eve was wrong to name you leader" Emily said and left the room, the other woman in the room gasped and looked at Sara.
"You know she didn't mean that" a woman said trying to comfort Sara but she dismissed it. "She is not wrong Isabella" Sara said.
"Look I don't know who should have taken the position for coven leader but I do know that Eve had the gift of foresight" Isabella said placing a hand on Sara's shoulder.
"What do you guys say?" Sara asked as the 2 women who haven't said anything yet. "Elizabeth? Mary?" Sara asked again and one of the woman nodded to the other.
Elizabeth and Mary looked at the map before one of them said anything "We should go to Salem" she said as Emily came back into the room. "Are you guys serious?" Emily said.
"What would you do Emily?!" Sara said getting tired of her outbursts "If it was your decision to the fate of 5 women, the last of their coven what would you do?" Sara said walking towards Emily who slowly stepped back as Sara got closer.
"If you don't know then stop complaining" Sara said agitated and Emily lower her head, "The longer we stay here the chance of being killed get higher" Isabella said and Sara looked out the window and saw in the distance a small light.
"They have found us" Sara said and everyone went into a panic mode, "We have no choice now, we go to Salem" Sara said and everyone went to gather their things. "Thank Eve to have her house near a dock" Emily said as she packed her things.
"Eve did have the gift of foresight" Isabella countered and Elizabeth paused in her movements. "Did she foresee this? The end of the coven? So many lives lost and gone forever?" she asked as tears began to fall from her eyes.
"It's best not to think about that now" Sara said and they all made their way to the house when they heard shouting. "They are here" Elizabeth said and they moved more quickly out of the house.
They made their way to the docks and loaded their stuff onto the boat. Sara and Isabelle untied the boat from the dock and Elizabeth and Emily got to work on opening the sails. Mary was steering the boat out to the open waters when they heard a loud crash and looked up from the boat, they saw the house engulfed in flames.
A small tear escaped from Sara's eye as the house continued to burn, they all could hear cheers coming from the townspeople as they sailed away from the last thing that felt like home.
