Chapter 41 - Geologist

"Are you ready?" Quast asked.

"Yes, yes I am." Jerry readied up Slash, and all the other extra things that gave his Harnessing Sword more power.

[Defeat a Muloculus]

[Difficulty : Hard][Time Limit : 10 Minutes][Rewards : 7500 Experience]

"Damn, so I have a time limit now. Also no item reward?" Jerry frowned, and then looked at the creature that had appeared infront of him.

The enemy called a 'Muloculus' was pretty round, it was like a big egg was on the ground, with its white shell, and a stature only a little bit shorter than Jerry's. It had an eye in the exact middle, and just by looking at it Jerry felt like the new enemy was much smarter than a goblin. "Jesus, what is this eldritch being?" he said before the Muloculus closed the distance between them, somehow gliding along the grass.

Four weird stick-like appendages that were seperated in 3 places came out of the enemies' body, the seperations of the arms weren't connected, they were held in suspension with Mana.

"Ain't no way it just grew arms in a split second.." Jerry thought how to beat the new enemy. So he just swung his sword down on the creature. The Muloculus defended itself with its appendages, but Jerry's strong sword cut down through them without much sweat. The sword made its way all the way through the arms, and a little bit through the body, almost reaching the eye.

The creature's iris immediatly shot up to look at the sword that was in its body. Suddenly more eyes covered it, and it's colour transitioned into a dark green.

"Ah hell no, did that make it mad?" the one who had attacked the Muloculus stressfully wondered.

The enemy was already near Jerry, and it regrew the arms that it had lost. The Muloculus got a few hits on Jerry's legs and arms. However, Jerry did a precise and calculated swing that hit it exactly on the body, and the shell of the dark green creature cracked. The Harnessing Sword was swung again, and Jerry siezed the opportunity to defeat the Muloculus. "Man, what the hell was that." he said as the creature dissapated into thin air.

The quest got completed and 7500 Experience was gained, that was enough Experience for Jerry to level up to Level 30. The world turned dark once again for the third time as the little rolling window once again appeared infront. The images, and names of skills were scrolling by insanely fast, not even Jerry could catch a peak at the names.

The rolling continued until it stopped.

A picture of a small hammer with a polished wooden handle near a stone ball appeared on the left side, the stone ball looked like a geode.

[You have unlocked (Passive Rare Skill : Geologist)]

[Shiny geodes spawn every 6 hours within a 100 meters radius of the user, only 2 can exist at a time. Those geodes can be opened by hitting them with the geologist's hammer. All kinds of things could be inside a geode. The things inside a geode scale, and change with how many have been opened with the geologist's hammer.]

"Woah, that's so cool." Jerry read the description of the skill again. "So.. has one spawned already right now?"

"Nah, the first one will spawn in six hours." Quast replied.

"Yeah, ok.." "Let's take a break, and then continue with the quests." Jerry had almost forgotten about the weird anatomy of the Muloculus. "By the way, what was that weird fuckin' creature that I fought?"

"It was one of the options for enemies available to spawn for a hard quest, I have a lot more options now." Quast thought about all the enemies. "I mean, you can also fight an orc, everyone knows orcs."

"Let's just stick to the egg creature with the eyes." Jerry sat down on the grass, and put away his sword, letting his energy and Mana regenerate for about 4 minutes until they continued.

The first Hard quest after the break went on for about 3 minutes with Jerry coming out victorious, that made him level up and he had now 12 unspend Attribute points. "I'm actually swimming in Attribute points, aren't I?" "Well, now it's time to spend them." he put 6 into Luck and 6 into Intelligence, since he figured out that Luck would come in handy when opening geodes in the future.

On the third Hard quest, Jerry noticed that the Muloculus was getting stronger, or maybe he was getting a little weaker, but he still won, and got the 7500 Experience which surprisingly didn't make him level up.

The fourth and penultimate Hard quest, made Jerry feel even weaker, as if the eyes of the Muloculus were stealing his energy.. and that was because they were. "Alright, just a hit, and I'll win." Jerry struggled to hit it for a few times until he finally defeated it, making him level up when he got the 7500 Experience. He added the 4 Attribute points into Agility which made him feel pretty refreshed.

The friends decided that it would be for the best that Jerry rests up first before taking on the final Hard quest. After a short 5 minute break, there was no trouble doing the last quest for the day.

"So we're done for the day, huh. That went by so fast, can't believe I did all the 5 Hard quests." Jerry then realized that a little over an hour had passed. "I'm gonna definitely go to sleep, cuz I'm exhausted."

"True." Quast said, and yawned. "Alright, goodbye."

"Bye." Jerry walked back home and embraced the warmness of his soft bed after removing his shoes, and washing his hands.
