While walking back right after their encounter with the twins in the forest, Quast and Jerry were already debating about a new spot for the quests, or just waiting for the forest to be clear of any examiners.
"Man I'm growing older." Quast sighed. "I am turning 17 next month bro." the next month was July.
"Same." Jerry replied. "I can already smell the taxes coming. My, my how the world changed just a year or two before we turn adults. By the way do you think that they'll notice if we move somewhere deeper into the forest."
"Oh my god yeah, we'll soon be adults, I can't believe how fast time passes." The 16 years and 11 months and some days that Quast had lived through both felt like an eternity and a short blink of time to him as he reminisced. "..And also deeper into the forest just sounds like a place where the system can do something, don't tell me you don't think so." Quast replied.
"There's probably a dungeon there at most." Jerry shrugged.
Both of them stopped walking and decided on what to do next.
"Oh, by the way when are we inviting Albert to the team?" Jerry chimed in.
"Eh, we'll see." Quast responded.
"His Mana is really weak, dude. He probably can't get a single good ability." Jerry remarked. "Never mind 'good', the guy probably won't be able to get a single ability in general."
"That definitely isn't optimal for a person like him, remember his project about the paranormal in 8th grade? It will take a severe toll on him when he realizes he won't be able to use powers like in his imagination, probably."
"Ah the projects in 8th grade give me bad memories."
They decided to wait it out because they didn't know if the twins would be able to sense Jerry's Mana if he used his Fire Magic.
"I haven't fought anyone yet, not counting Arthur, the King and all the quest enemies. I've gotten so incredibly strong, at least it was through my own work, I literally shed blood for this power." Jerry thought to himself while just lying in bed with his memories flashing back to him breaking that punching machine in the mall. "What would happen if my parents found out their kid had inhuman power, why am I even hiding it? A lot of people are going to get literal superpowers now, mannnnn." Jerry groaned.
"I wonder how it would feel to throw a jab, how fast would it be? Except I don't know the proper way to do that." Jerry thought to himself and decided to go out, but he didn't forget to grab his phone and notify his parents.
He found a very nice broken down concrete wall that he could punch, and there were no people in sight so he checked out a guide on how to jab on his phone.
He got his hands up, slightly bend his knees, set his right foot straight and lifted the heel of his left foot slightly, and finally relaxed. Then he extended his hand and threw a jab just as described in the guide he was looking at. Jerry kind of knew that he could probably punch through concrete or at least break it to a certain degree, worry was the last thing on his mind.
It was to an extent faster than he imagined and a loud impact sound reverberated through his ears as the concrete of the wall shattered, it looked like a spider web, or a frozen lake when someone jumped on top of the ice and it shattered, but there was a slight indentation of his fist in the wall.
"Imagine if someone comes here and sees this... well I'm going back home." Jerry decided in a very short amount of time. Back at the place where he found residence, Jerry sent a message to Quast via the messaging application that they used, telling him that he broke a wall 'like in anime', and then described what happened. His lifelong dream of being able to punch concrete and it breaking like that had just been accomplished.
"Holy shit." Johnathan had just woken up and was lying in bed while the sun was shining outside when it really struck him "What the actual fuck is happening?" he looked at his right hand, the one that was formed into a fist and used in a punch that knocked someone out. "And why does she hate me so damn much? Oh well, asking myself that question more times isn't going to benefit me." he rubbed the upper part of his nose with his thumb and index finger as he stood up to begin his daily routine.
"I wonder what to use these powers on." Johnathan wondered. A weird feeling was starting to form in the back of his mind, that he would soon realize what to do, so he continued with his daily routine.
Back in her house a woman sat in her chair while in a call with 3 other people, her Virtual Reality headset was in a drawer somewhere.
"Remember that kid from that VR game we played?" a man with a deep voice spoke.
Everyone collectively remembered that odd moment when a very strange acting person joined their game and told them something.
"Well I've been sticking to what this dude told us and I think it's starting to make me feel like really full of energy for some reason." the deepest voice of the bunch continued. "I don't think I would've felt like this if Mana didn't exist."
"So what you're telling me is that the kid was onto something?" The oldest of the bunch who was 1 year older than everyone, at 22, questioned.
"With everything that's happening right now it is entirely possible, I guess." the only woman of the bunch responded.
"Yeah, yeah totally." the only person who hadn't said anything until now scrambled to say something to keep the conversation going. "Do you guys wanna know what I saw yesterday?"
"Of course we do, Thomas." The oldest guy who was called Sven said.
"So I was walking the dog, but this time I took the long way back, and on said long way we always pass near this broken down wall, however this time the wall had something strange on it, besides all the graffiti, here I'll send the photo in chat, it is certainly something I never thought I'd see."
The 5 megabyte large photo took 3 seconds to upload and on it was, as expected, a wall covered in graffiti of various sized, but near the left side of the wall's collapsed area was a peculiar indentation.
"Here's the close up." Thomas sent the close up as well.
"That really must've been a strong punch." Pedro, who had the deepest voice said.
"Imagine how hard it is to do that, isn't that a reinforced wall?" Jennie asked.
"Yeah, on the first pic there are some metal bars sticking out." Thomas added.
"I wonder if I'll be able to do that?"
