"Rest in peace, Arthur." Jerry said as his new gauntlets automatically equipped.
[Arthur's Iron Gauntlets(Common)]
[+3 Strength]
[+2 Dexterity]
[These seemingly normal gauntlets were once owned by one of the strongest knights.]
The first thing that caught his attention was the description, especially the "one of the strongest knights" part. "Damn, I'm really strong, aren't I?" kind of depressed muttered Jerry as he made his way to his friend Quast.
"Good fight." Quast said and he tried to console his friend and they moved onto the golden gate, Jerry wanted to get out of this dungeon as fast as possible.
They stepped in front of it as the dim lantern lights illuminated the moss covered stone dungeon, only the gate in front of them seemed to look appealing.
[Enter Boss Room]
[YES][NO]
After Jerry chose the [YES] option Quast also did the same with the little interface infront of him, as the gate opened, the first thing that caught Jerry's attention was all the gold scattered around and a throne elevated on a set of stairs, there an outline of a person in robes was laid, his hand on his cheek staring down at Jerry with crossed legs.
Much stronger lights brightened up the area this time, unlike the weak ones in the mini-boss' room.
It seemed like the king had his eyes opened, in the piles of gold jewlery Quast could see skeletons of animals. It seemed like Athrad was buried with his favourite pets.
The dungeon boss didn't need to raise voice to be heard "What are you? To defeat my best knight so easily." the king now stood up from his throne and walked down the set of stairs, his appearance wasn't how one would expect, even though he was a king, no fat could be seen on him. He had black hair and no beard, a look at him and some would guess that he was 30 years of age.
The skin on his body was also really good looking, considering the hygene in the medieval times. However his looks were like that because of the dungeon energy overflowing within Athrad's body.
"Jerry Dankworth, I don't think I'll fight you myself." the king said as he slowly walked up back the stairs, as if he went down for nothing.
The skill Slash was activated and Jerry ran quickly towards the king, when he heard the sound of running, Athrad turned around just in time to see Jerry infront of him with the sword in hand, a swift slicing motion was seen as the Metal Sword made contact with the dungeon boss' shoulder.
"Dumbass, as if I'd let you leisurely walk back to your throne." Jerry said as the arm of the king was cut off.
"What?!" the king shouted, yet he felt no pain, the only thing that was felt was the desire to defeat the intruder.
"Bro, you have the IQ of a walnut, why'd you just turn your back towards me?" Jerry asked.
"Because I thought you wouldn't attack me." Athrad said as a relatively long scepter was summoned into his hands and he swung it in an attempt to make Jerry go away, and it worked as the hit was evaded and Jerry was pushed back.
It was surprising that the dungeon boss could summon a weapon too.
"What kind of stupid thought process is that?" Jerry questioned, thinking the king was joking as he quickly went in and tried to hit the dungeon boss again.
"Did your personality just change?!" Quast shouted.
Fascinatingly enough it actually had a little bit to do with Jerry's behaviour, the dungeon was observing him the entire fight with Arthur and was sending this information to the king, but now with this shift in personality, Athrad just couldn't predict Jerry's plans.
With no time to summon his knights that he had been planning on using to fight the intruder away, the king was now engaged in a one on one fight with Jerry.
The golden scepter that was being used by the enemy seemed to be very durable and strong, but Jerry's hits were stronger than those of the king's and Athrad's attacks were being pushed back as he had no strength, after all he wasn't meant to be fighting against Jerry now.
The king was losing to Jerry, and the Metal Sword wielder felt that he had more stamina left than the enemy.
Their exchange would last until Slash had been recharged, then it would be over.
"I can't lose!" was all that was in the dungeon boss' brain, yet loss was inevitable.
The threathening aura that Jerry had relied on the entire day once again appeared on his sword. When the Slash imbued sword made contact with the torso of the king a notification sounded that the Slimy effect had been activated, adding the cherry on top, and all of it because he had allocated 6 points into the Luck stat.
The king dropped as another window appeared infront Jerry.
[Dungeon boss {Athrad} was successfully defeated]
[Rewards : 6000 Experience, 750 Coins]
With the 6000 Experience that he had gained, he levelled up twice, reaching level 20.
In the instant that he had reached level 20, that trance like state could be felt again as the window with the icons and text scrolling that was too fast to be made out appeared, it once again gradually slowed down until it stopped.
[You have unlocked (Passive Common Skill : Fire Magic)]
[Fire magic that requires mana to be used, it has no cooldown.]
And it dissapeared but the trance wasn't over as another one appeared.
[You have unlocked a Magic Skill, your body will now produce mana regularly, how much mana is produced and how much mana is used in magic casting depends on the Intelligence attribute.]
And with that he came back to his normal state.
"Wow, you got your first magic!" Quast shouted and ran to his friend. "But Jesus, you speedran that boss! Kind of an anticlimactic end not gonna lie."
The idea of magic was still fresh in Jerry's head as he tried to stay cool and said "It was really hard for me to get myself to attack him, but I somehow managed. And at the end I thought he was gonna transform into another form or something and beat me." Jerry then carried on and said "Rest in peace, king Athrad." but the body of the dungeon boss had already been gone when they looked, turned into dungeon energy.
Jerry wanted to check his interface, and it opened.

He had 9 points to add to whatever he wanted.
A beautiful light appeared out of nowhere and it made contact with the eyes of the friends, but it didn't blind them as a wooden chest materialized out of thin air infront, its design masterfully crafted, all the gold in the room and the throne were gone and only the chest remained.
