Jerry decided that his walk was now over and headed back home, there he instantly went to bed and slept his worries away.
It was now the next day, Thursday. And almost the entire school had now started producing mana by the end of the lessons.
Soon everyone in the world would have mana because of how exponentially the numbers grew.
But soon wasn't now. Quast and Jerry were sitting bored at home, they didn't even want to play games online for some reason.
Jerry threw a ball at the wall and waited for it to bounce back, that's when he remembered what happened in the alleyway, and he almost instantaneously opened the chat interface and told the entire story to his friend.
[Quast]
[Today]
Quast : [Wow, I don't know what to make of it.] a silence filled the chat [This is a wild conclusion, but do you think that mana is spreading to people?] -
[Imagine.] Jerry replied, knowing it was a possibility in the back of his head.
Then Quast broke the silence [So.. when do we add Albert to the party?]
[That is a good question.] responded Jerry [I dunno though.]
[What do you say we ask him tomorrow?] a question appeared from near Quast's name.
[Sure, but why are you saying this so suddenly?] Jerry questioned.
Quast :[Because what if mana is really spreading to people, imagine how cool it'd be for us to call Albert and tell him that.]
Jerry : [Cool isn't the right word. Look, we don't know if it really is spreading... yet I have this weird feeling that it is.]
Quast : [Yeah same... I say we don't add him just yet too.]
Jerry : [Hmm, ok.]
By that point there were still 72 hours until the quests were refilled, and some people in Quast's country were discovering their new powers. The spread of mana was faster than anyone could've expected, and that was because all that was needed to be done to get it was just to stand near a person with mana and then it would just transfer over.
In the school the next day no one had figured out their abilities yet, not even the teachers, and everyone was just sitting on their desks waiting for something to happen.
With a semi-loud crashing sound, suddenly lightning struck outside, even though it was the clearest day, not even a speck of a cloud was in the sky. The lightning wasn't the strongest, at most it was just a weak bolt, and it most definitely didn't come from the sky, a little impact mark was made on the concrete outside by it.
The students and the teachers in the entire school didn't react for a few instants when it all clicked and they went through shock and then surprise. Every student and teacher was now gathered at the windows, looking outside.
Quast and Jerry didn't go to look, because they were staring at eachother, wide-eyed. They regained composure after a moment and decided on what to do.
A student was outside near where the impact was, looking at the windows while smiling, on his t-shirt and on his entire body, electrical charges appeared and dissapeared on repeat.
The first thought that came to the minds of the friends was that this boy outside was using magic and the second thought was a confirmation that mana could indeed be spreading.
A lightning bolt hit the windows of Jerry's classroom and they all shattered making a loud sound as kids screamed and everyone headed for the door, however the friends that were dabbling in this magic business before this happened stayed in the room, deciding on what to do next.
"Interesting." muttered Jerry "I wanna fight him."
"No, don't. If all the fantasy stories that I've read are right, then the police will come, take him and he will be experimented on in a lab, by scientists." Quast remembered when he used to read books long ago. "Only fight as a last resort, also shouldn't we like, head out?"
They both looked around in the room that had glass shards near where the windows broke, they were reflecting the sun's light and fresh air was coming in. All of the people in the classroom, even the teacher were already gone, leaving the friends behind to fend for themselves.
They made their way out, calmer than they should've been in an irregular situation like this, the classrooms near them were also empty, no person in sight, not even one human being.
There were two entrances of the school and by using some common sense Jerry made out that everyone had left in the southern exit, because the lightning student was at the northern one.
"Hey, I have this crazy idea." said Jerry as they were walking down the stairs from the 2nd floor, since their classroom was located on the 2nd storey. "Let's go to where this dude with the lightning is."
"Eh, sure." Quast shrugged, this was a reaction that Jerry didn't expect.
They opened the doors to the northern exit, only to see the lightning user that had destroyed their windows was gone.
"Should we go home?" a question arose when they saw that the attacker was gone, and the friends agreed to go to Jerry's apartament, where they gave their parents a call to explain what happened and where they were, of course the parents were confused by the entire situation, but by the tone of their children they decided that it wasn't necessarily a lie.
And soon enough the police were at the scene, the lightning boy had ran away realising his mistake and it was now a matter of time until he was found.
At the southern exit the teacher was counting the kids, when he saw that Quast and Jerry weren't there his heart froze and he instantly called the principal, who called the parents. The teacher and the principal were showered with good news as the parents of the students that had ran away told them what had happened, and the educators let a sigh of relief.
At home the friends made out the lie that they were very scared and ran away to home, of course the parents saw right through the obvious lie, but decided to keep quiet.
That day was the first in which a mana user that had an ability attacked other people.
Albert was now a lot happier now that magic existed, and the school was closed down for a few days until the officials had figured out what happened.
