I woke up screaming my older brother came rushing into my room.

"The nightmare again?" Jason asked.

"I want to stop reliving that night it is hard enough with out them. It makes it harder not knowing where they are." I replied still shaking.

"I know I know and I am sure they will find them eventually." Jason said while hugging me tightly. I don't tell him, but I can't breathe he is squeezing me so tight.

I was not able to go back to sleep so I texted Trystin. I asked him if he was awake he didn't reply. So I opened my window and threw my pencil at his. Almost instantly he opened his window.

"What is it now?" he asked while rubbing his eyes.

"Can you come over here? I can't go back to sleep." I knew he wouldn't be able to go back to sleep now either.

"Give me a minute to get dressed and I'll be over" he laughed and shut his window.

Around ten minutes later me and Trystin were sitting on my bed. Jason didn't care when I had Trystin over. Trystin has been my best friend since kindergarten.

"So what time are we gonna head to school?" he asked staring at me. I honestly didn't even want to go to school today.

"How about we skip today?" I knew he was not going to let me skip.

"We are not skipping school Em at least not today." he gave me a that stupid smirk of his.

"Ok have it your way maybe I'll ask Xavier." I gave him a smirk.

"I heard my name." Xavier says finally showing up. I texted him when I texted Trystin.

"Wanna skip school with me today?" I asked still smirking at Trystin.

"Ooo softy gone hard skipping school now." Xavier said staring me down. He knows it bugs me when he calls me softy.

"Are you in or not. We can chill here or do anything you want." Xavier smirked when I said that.

I knew he was not going to school anyway. Now that Xavier wasn't going I know Trystin is not leaving me alone with him. They are best friends, but they both get jealous when it comes to me. I think it is really funny, but I like Xavier. I just can't get over his ice blue eyes I can hardly stare at him. He is also always willing to help out his friend.

I don't think he likes me back though. He never really shows me if he likes me. Though there was this one time we had a moment. We were thirteen he had only been here for a year. We were playing hide-in-seek we were the pair hiding. We hid in a play house. We sat in a corner right out of the light he wrapped his arm around me.

We were talking I was staring into his eyes. He put his forehead against mine and pulled me in closer. It was the fourth of July and fireworks were going off in the distance. He was leaning closer then the flashlight of his brother and Trystin hit us. We stood up fast we never talked about it after that though. So ever since then that's all it has been a moment.

I was zoned out for a good amount of time cause when I zoned back in Trystin was clapping his hands in my face.

"Earth to Ember" he said still clapping.

"Sorry I zoned out. What were y'all saying?" I tried not to blush while Xavier stared at me.

"I am gonna skip school with you, but Trystin said he is still going." Xavier blurted out giving Trystin a weird look.

"Sure, but let's talk in the hallway before I leave" Trystin almost hissed out the words.

It felt like forever before they came back in the room. Trystin came straight over to me gave me a hug. "I'm gonna head to school now. If you need anything at all shoot me a text. Don't have to much fun without me." then he walked out.

"So what do you want to do now?" I asked looking up at Xavier who was staring at me. He didn't respond he just grabbed my hand and pulled my off my bed.

"I am going to take you on an adventure." was all he said before dragging me all the way downstairs and out my front door.

We were halfway down the sidewalk when I noticed he was holding my hand. I felt my face turn pink. Then, I tripped and fell flat on my face. My short legs could not keep up with him. I was barely 5'0 and Xavier was 6'4 I looked like a small child compared to him.

"Are you ok?" he asked before helping me up. My knees and the left side of my face were scraped up.

"I am fine I am just clumsy." I said trying not to turn beet red as he wiped his hand over my cheek.

"I can carry you the rest of the way if you want." he said while smiling at me. I did not want to walk right now.

"Okay, but don't let this get to your head." I replied while getting on his back. This was not the first time he has had to carry me. Last year he carried me all the way home after I partied a little too hard. I was now aware of my surroundings we were behind the old park. There was a forest back here where we all used to play tag and hang out.

When we entered the forest he instantly went off the trails. We were going deeper and deeper into to the forest.

"Can you please tell me where we are going now?" I said nervous on why we are not at least on a trail.

"Trust me you will be surprised when we get there." he sounded really excited. Not long later we arrived at a huge tree. Up high in the thick branches was a tree house. The rope latter however did not look very promising. Still I climbed up it and entered the tree house. It was amazing there were snacks and board games also bean bag chairs all over.

"This is our new hang out I found it a while back and fixed it up." Xavier said falling into a chair.

"This is so cool how did you do all of this." I said still taking everything in. Then I swear I hear leaves crunching down below. I felt slightly uneasy by that sound.

"Is there a place to pee in here?" I said doing my I need to pee dance.

"Actually I made a small bathroom open the curtain back there," he said pointing to the back.

How did he do all of this? I open the curtain to see a toilet and a sink. I quickly went pee then got up to wash my hands. I heard some scuffing on the floor and then a thud. Before I could ask what happened someone hit the back of my head. Everything went black when I woke up my head was pounding. "Xavier!" I yell while standing up. He didn't reply and when I walked out there was a smear of blood leading straight to the ladder. Xavier was nowhere to be seen.

"Why does this keep happening to me!!!!!" I screamed terrified of what would happen next.
