Chereads / Little Sparrow / Chapter 5 - He's a Jerk

Chapter 5 - He's a Jerk

Holy. Shit. Ok I'm just gonna stay calm. I have a great poker face by the way, so you'd never know what I was feeling unless I let it show.

This was advance Italian. Oh my god, HE SPEAKS ITALIAN. I wonder what he sounds like. Ok chill Spencer, walk into the classroom, and take a seat.

The last seat just so happened to be right next to him. IM GONNA DIE. Alright I'm calm.

I take the seat next to him and look straight ahead. The teacher enters the classroom and puts down his briefcase.

"Hello class, I see we have a new student. I'm Mr. Jensen. Go ahead and introduce yourself," he says and takes a seat. Everyone turns to look at me and I can feel the heat of Chester's gaze on my face, but I just push it away.

I'm strong. One guy can't throw me off my axis.

"I'm Spencer Kingsley," I say confidently and the teacher goes into his lesson. Thank god he didn't make me do anything else. I didn't feel like giving my whole life story.

"So you're one of those girls," I hear a voice say from beside me. I look over to see Chester roll his eyes.

"What kind of girl are you talking about," I ask. My face scrunched up in confusion.

"Your one of those that act hard to get and stuck up."

The fuck. So, hot guys a jerk. Great.

"Oh, so you're one of those guys," I say.

"What kind of guy," he asks. He found it funny that I used his words.

"One of those guys that have their heads so far up their own ass." I saw the shock in his eyes, but it disappeared quickly.

"Am I interrupting something," the teacher asked from the front of the classroom.

"Niente di niente (Nothing at all)," I say with a smirk on my face.

"You don't even know me and your already judging me," I whisper to him.

"I can tell enough by the way you talk with your nose high in the air and how you grab for attention with the way you dress. Acting modest, but dressing exposingly."

"Oh really? Well, what look are you going for? High School bad boy with a broken heart. You must hide it with the way you act all tough, like in all the movies? Do you sleep with all the girls too?"

He didn't even reply with anything. He knew that he was making me angry by ignoring me, that mother fucker.

The rest of the class time went by in the same ignoring manner. The bell rang and it was time for lunch.

When I walk out of class, I see Lily skipping over to me.

"Hey, you ready for lunch," she asks all cheerfully.

"Definitely," I smile back and we make our way towards lunch.

While Lily and I walked to lunch, Parker met up with us. As we walked into the lunchroom, people were staring at me and whispering. What's with people doing that all day? I know I'm new, but I really hate the attention. I've been trying to shut it out all day.

As I see who's sitting at the table Lily is guiding me to, I stop.

"Great. If it isn't the jerks. Can we sit somewhere else? Do we have to sit with them?" Sitting at the table are Chester Scott and my new neighbor, Max Davis, along with some other people.

Max looked like he had hella face surgery because no one looks that perfect and Chester just sat there looking like the devil's spawn.

"I take offense to that. I'm not even an asshole. Anyone can tell you that. I'm sorry for whatever you think I did to you, but I can't say the same for Chester," Max said with a smirk on his face.

"You know what you did barf face! You don't just kick a soccer ball into someone's face by accident!!"

"It really was an accident. You were the one not paying attention to where you were going. I even helped you afterwards."

"It's not my fault she's a stuck up prude," I hear Chester say, in a low voice and I was getting ready to throw back another insult.

"They're not that bad, I promise. I can introduce you to everyone else, though?" I just nod while she leads me to the table.

The other guys that I met, Alexander and Daniel, were also sitting at the table and three girls I haven't met yet. Lily sits me down between her and Parker, so that I wouldn't have to sit by the two asshats.

"Everyone this is Spencer. Spencer this is Sky, Alexandra, Alexander, Daniel, and Hope," Lily introduces. I guess she doesn't know that I've already met the guys.

Sky had blue dyed hair and blue eyes. I didn't know if Sky was a nickname for all the blue she wore or if that was her real name. Alexander and Alexandra were twins. They both had brown hair and green eyes. Lastly, Daniel and Hope had black hair and almost black eyes that looked like they could see deep into your soul. I think they were brother and sister. I've already felt the effect of Daniel's demon eyes, but the power of both of them together was impossibly strong. Hope was glaring at me.

Did I do something bad already?

"Hey, nice to meet you. I heard you were in the arts department. Nice pick. I'm also in the arts department, but I'm doing the dance courses," Sky said to me.

"Nice to meet you too. So, if your in dance, does that mean your on the cheer team," I ask.

"Sorry for interrupting, but I was trying to convince Spencer to tryout after school tomorrow. Can you help me out Sky," Lily comes in.

"Oh my god, you should totally join. It's really fun," Sky says.

"I said I'll think about it. I'm not sure if I want to."

"Anyways, I'm Alexandra, this is Alexander. He's on the football team and I'm in the photography club. There are other clubs, don't listen to these poop heads. Cheer isn't everything," Alexandra says smiling at me.

"I think I can make my own introduction, sis. Hey, I'm the OLDER twin." Alexander gets cut off by Alexandra punching him in the shoulder.

"By like a minute and that's only because your big ass head got in the way." Alexander and Alexandra continue with there fighting.

"1.63 seconds to be exact," I heard Alexander whisper under his breath and Alexandra just hits him on the back of the head. I turn my head towards Daniel and Hope.

Hope just glares at me and exits the cafeteria, while Daniel rolls his eyes.

"She's such a drama queen. Sorry about my sister. Nice to see you again, Spencer. I'm the quarterback by the way and my sister is head cheerleader." For some reason, I got this weird vibe off of him. I don't know what it is, but I was going to keep my distance.

"Nice to see you too, Daniel," I gave him a small smile and looked away.

"I'm gonna go use the bathroom," I tell Lily. I get up and walk out of the cafeteria. I wasn't really going to use the bathroom. I wanted to check on Hope. When I enter the bathroom, I see Hope in front of the mirrors, but she turns when she sees me in the reflection.

"Are you ok? You looked pretty upset back there?" I know I didn't know anything about Hope, but I always wished that someone would show me the same sympathy that I'm trying to show her.

Next thing I know, I'm being pushed up to the bathroom door.

"Listen, slut. Stay away from what's mine. If I see you get anywhere near Chester or Max, I will fucking end you. Don't you even try to come to tryouts, because I'll make sure you don't make the cut." She pushes me again harshly.

So much for trying to be nice.

"You know what, maybe I will tryout. You don't own shit and get your dirty hands off of me," I say right in her face. I didn't like bullies. I used to get bullied at my old school after my brother was put in rehab and I never stood up for myself. I learned that it was the worst mistake I ever made because it never stopped and it kept getting worst.

I wasn't going to make the same mistake again.

I wasn't going to hit her because I was smarter than that. If I hit her now, it will all backfire on me. So, I was going to do the smarter thing and walk away. I leave her inside the bathroom shocked and go to my next class, since lunch was over.

In my next class, it all went smoothly and I didn't know anyone in there, but in my last class of the day, which was Physics, I saw Max.

There were no other seats, but the one next to him, so I ended up sitting next to him.

Why do I always end up sitting next to jerks.

"Hey, Spence," he said.

"Don't call me Spence."

"But it's a nice nickname."

I looked over at him and he was doing puppy dog eyes and was pouting his lips.

"Ugh, whatever."

"Alright. By the way, we forgot to tell you this at lunch, but there's a party tomorrow night and you should totally come." It made sense that they would have a party tomorrow. I started school on a thursday because I was too tired to wake up in the beginning of the week. I thought that I'd miss school for today again and just start school next week, but Nick decided to suffocate me with water.

"Umm, sounds cool, I guess. Where is it?"

"I can send you the address, but I need your phone number or you can just ride with me," he says, wiggling his eyebrows.

"Oh, so that's your trick. I'll just ask Lily," I say and he gives me a face of disappointment.

"Why?"

"Because if I get drunk, I trust her to bring me back home."

"I could bring you home. I would never take advantage of you."

"I don't trust people who kick balls into innocent bystanders."

"Ugghhh, fine. I'll see you there."

After that, we got quite and just paid attention to the lesson. In no time, the bell rang and the school day was over.

I saw Lily in the hallways and ran up to her.

"So, the party. You wanna give me a ride," I ask.

"Only if your trying out tomorrow," she smirks.

"Well, then I guess your my ride."

"YAYYY! I have to go get everything ready for tomorrow. Can't wait to see you there."
