Chereads / Little Sparrow / Chapter 10 - Judgemental Much!

Chapter 10 - Judgemental Much!

"CHESTER SLOW DOWN!"

Chester was driving like a maniac. I felt like I had to throw up as we went up and down hills, my stomach doing backflips.

He just laughed at my discomfort and kept driving. He's such a JERK!

Not too long later, we arrived at my house. I didn't even give him directions, but I was guessing he remembered the way since Max lives next door.

I unlocked my door and we walked inside. I saw him eyeing everything up and down. He picks up a picture that was nearby and something flashes in his eyes.

It was a picture of Nick and I at our old school. Nick had his football gear on and the school had just won the championship.

My mom made us pose for a picture with the trophy. I had the schools colors on to support my brother. This picture was taken before mom started throwing herself into work and before Nick left for college and I started getting bullied.

You could see the happiness on our faces in that picture. My stress filled face could not compare to the glow on my face in that picture.

"When was this picture taken? You look way younger in this picture," he asked.

"Not that long ago. It's probably the stress that makes me look older," I tell him shrugging.

"What do you have to stress about. Your like 14, right?" I yank the picture out of his hand, putting it back into place.

"For your information, I'm 16, almost 17. What are you? 12? Nick is only about a year older than me."

"Oh and no, I'm 17 and a half for your information." He says, sounding even more like a baby.

"Hey, you promised pizza. Don't try to distract me."

"I'll order it now." He pulls out his phone and dials the number.

"What do you want," he asks me.

"Pepperoni pizza and spicy wings." After he orders, he goes to sit on the couch.

"Get up. The pizza won't be here for another 25 minutes. Let's get started." He lets out a small groan, but gets up.

"So what are we doing," Chester asks me.

"Ummm, can you dance?"

"Hell no! I'm not dancing."

I kept thinking of what to do. What can we both do without looking awkward? Then, I got an idea.

"Go get your football out of the car and meet me in the backyard." I finally made a plan. Its gonna look awesome!

He comes out with the football, leaving the back door open, so we can hear when the pizza comes.

"Alright, throw it to me," I say backing up from him. When he throws the ball I do a backflip, tucking in my legs in while I'm in the air, and catching the ball before I land on my feet.

"That's cool. So, is that what we're doing?" I throw the ball back to him and we just pass the ball back and forth.

"You know, your weirdly good at this," he says.

"I used to practice with my brother back home when he needed a partner to throw balls with. We can do some cheer/ football combined routines or we can do a little magic show. You don't have to do any of the cheer stuff though."

"You should join the girls flag football team."

"I already kind of joined the cheer squad, so I don't think I want to just get up and leave. Then again, I only joined to piss someone off."

He started laughing at my comment. God. That laugh. My heart just dropped out of my ass.

"Who did you piss off on your first day of school!?!"

"Hope was being a meany." He just started laughing more.

I swear this guy has a new personality everytime I see him.

"That's understandable."

"What department are you in at Academy Arts?"

"I'm in culinary arts," he answers. I took a look at his face to see if he was joking.

"You know how to cook?"

"Yeah. I do."

"So, why didn't you cook instead of buying pizza?"

"I don't cook for girls on the first date," he says with a smirk on his face and I roll my eyes.

"I kind of expected something different."

"Look at you being all judgmental again. I thought we talked about this already."

"Well, 1. Your a jerk, 2. I literally got pushed into the wall of the girls bathroom the first day of school because I sat a few feet away from you, and 3. I've met boys like you. So, I'm guessing you have a rep and it's not a good one. So, excuse me for thinking culinary would be the last department you would join."

While I was giving my speech, he was moving closer to me, so by the end of my speech, he was a few inches in front me. I didn't realize how close he was until I could feel his breathe on my face.

"Since you know me so well, what do you think I'm going to do next?" He was so close that our noses almost touched. I felt like I couldn't breathe with him towering over me and his gray/ blue eyes burning into my brown ones.

"Back off, Chester." I said the words, but my voice made it seem like I didn't mean them.

"I thought I warned you about rolling those pretty, little eyes of yours." I felt his hand lightly tracing on my waist and his lips met my neck. I let out a slight moan when he sucked gently on the skin.

The doorbell rang, meaning the pizza was here. I pushed him away from me and left without sparing him a glance. My heart was thumping rapidly and I was grateful that my legs hadn't fully turned to jelly.

I went to the door and opened it. I thought it would be the pizza, but who I saw at my door surprised me.

"Ryan?!?!"
