The rest of the school day zoomed past and the bell ranged, signaling the end of school. As I walk through the hallway, heading for the locker room, Sky and Lily met up with me.
"I can't wait to see you in the uniform. Your going to look great. Try it on, quick." Lily hands me the uniform and I put it on.
The colors were red, gold, and white. The skirt hugged my curves, with a split on the side and the top was long sleeved, but cropped. It was a really cute outfit and I can admit that I look good in it.
"I was right. You look great! Ok, switch into your workout clothes. I'll take your uniform and save it for you. I'll give it back after you make the team." I hand Lily the uniform back and get ready for tryouts.
I put on my black sports bra. It was very securing, so I wasn't afraid that my boobs would slip out. I also slip on some black shorts and my black, Nike shoes. I take my water bottle with me and head to the field.
"You're gonna be awesome," Sky tells me, giving me a quick hug and running off to the other side of the field, with the other cheerleaders that are already on the team.
The football team was also on the field, practicing. I spotted Parker, Daniel, Alexander, Max, and Chester on the field with the team.
"Tryouts is starting now. My name is Hope and I am the cheer captain. Today I will be testing your strengths. Coach will be watching and I will not hesitate to kick any of you guys off the team. You had enough time to get in shape during conditioning. If your one of the ones that didn't, too bad." She says the last part glaring at me.
"Now, start by running four laps and don't stop or your out," she says, smiling. Well, jokes on her because I'm really athletic and I can run for long periods without stopping.
When I start running, I catch Chester's eyes on me. He doesn't look away when I catch him, but I look away first, to stay focus on my task. Pissing off Hope as much as possible.
With that thought in mind, I pick up speed and make it in front of everyone. I look to see that Hope is glaring at me and I just smirk back. I finish first and I'm barely sweating.
After everyone finishes, with three girls getting kicked out because they stopped, we go into stretching.
"Ok, I want you to form a line. One by one I will call you up. I'm going to tell you to do things and you have to do it. If you can't, then your out."
I end up being in the back. With every girl, she gives them orders like do a cartwheel or repeat this routine. She starts off slow, but then speeds up and gives them harder tasks. About five more girls failed, leaving only two that make the team. When it came to my turn, she smiles a devilish grin.
She thought that she was going to embarrass me like some of the others, but I've been training harder than this for years. Being in gymnastics, helping my brother with his football practice at home, and running away from bullies helped with that. So, I smiled right back at her, which earned me a glare.
"Split," she said and I did it.
"Cartwheel."
"Toe touch."
"Back flip."
"Handstand."
"Round-off."
"Pike."
She just kept going. Speeding up and raising the bar. She thought I was going to fail. She pushed me harder than all the others, but I kept going.
I could see her face heating up with anger, her ears growing red. One of the girls had to tell her she went over the two minute mark with me.
"Ok, your done," she said in a deadly tone.
"That was great," I hear someone say from behind me. It was a lady.
"Hi, I'm coach Peterson. What's your name? Welcome to the team," she says with a smile on her face. All the others clapped for me except for Hope, she looked pissed and red in the face.
"Thank you, Coach Peterson. I'm Spencer Kingsley. Happy to be on the team."
"Go ahead and get your uniform. Leave me your phone number and contact information. I'll be sending you the schedule for cheer."
Lily runs over and hugs me.
"Yes, you made the team! We have to celebrate. Come on, I'll take you to get your uniform and we'll go over to your place to get ready for the party," Lily screeches into my ear.
I go to get my uniform and Lily and Sky drive over to my house to get ready for the party. Apparently, they keep a whole lot of party clothes in the trunk of their car for emergencies.
"Your house is awesome! What do your parents do for a living," Sky asks.
"My dad was a private pilot for rich families and my mom is a traveling scientist," I answer.
"You said your dad WAS a pilot. Does that mean.." Lily says.
"He died a couple of years ago," I state. My voice was sad, but I didn't cry. It's been a couple of years and I've healed from the death of my dad. I like to think about the happy moments I had with him.
"I'm sorry," they both say.
"It's alright. I've come to terms with it. I can't say the same thing for my mom and brother though."
"Where's your brother," Sky asks.
"He should be here soon. Probably on his way back from school."
"Lets go get ready. We're celebrating!"
