"You're doing it wrong" Kenma moves Crescent's arms so that her hands are positioned properly. He backs up slightly, and Crescent flushes red.
"Why are you red?" He eyes her, Crescent hisses.
"I've been stuck in the same position for the past ten minutes you tell me"
He sighs, and has Crescent try for the nth time that afternoon. She was able to pull the oxygen out, but she wasn't able to bend it out of a body. She was too used to using bloodbending. She focuses on the air around her, and she starts again. Oxygen, feel the atoms around you, feel the elements. She focuses on the air, and she feels the particles around her. She draws the element, and the apple in the box shrinks. She's careful not to draw the water, and when she succeeds, she glows.
Kenma nods. The apple has shrunk, and he can no longer feel any air in the makeshift box he metalbended. He shakes it, and he takes the apple out. It's all watery, so he let's nature do it's thing, and the apple diffuses. It's nice and crisp again. The apple is thrown into the air once or twice, and then he nods to himself. He bites down, and Crescent stares at him for any feedback.
"Not bad. You managed to draw the oxygen out of an apple, now we move on to a human" Kenma stares at her. Crescent nods, and she doesn't fight it when he pulls her along the corridors with the metal again. Naga was out with Elios and Ignes to have some fun, and Crescent wanted to finish training before tournaments came up.
"So… where do I find a human to take the oxygen out of?"
"You took that seriously?"
Crescent looks away, and laughs awkwardly. Nope, not at all Kenma. She was not thinking about sucking the oxygen out of a human. Kenma peers at her, and he sighs. She was just so naive. It was a miracle she had survived in their neighborhood up until now. But then again, she had grown up with him around. But she was strong, and her agility scared people around them.
"I'd teach you how to suck the oxygen out of someone but that would require you to play someone" Kenma states.
"So like vampire shenanigans?" Crescent raises a brow.
"Close. Think of it as literally taking someone's breath away"
Crescent stares at Kenma while he speaks. His lips are chapped, and if she were given the chance, she would help him solve that issue. Her mind wanders to his hands, how his fingers would feel holding her's. How his eyes would look full of affection, and how good he would be in bed-. No no no! Crescent what are you thinking? She smacks herself on the face lightly, and Kenma peers at her.
He smirks lightly, her thoughts were written all over her face. He stops, and Crescent stops after she realizes they stopped walking. She's tired, and it's written all over her face. Kenma stops for a second, and he falters. She seemed tired, did she.. no her body was burning up. A break would work. He earthbends a seat for Crescent to sit for a moment.
"Did something happen?" Crescent blinks at Kenma, and she doesn't feel her body heat up. She's woozy, and she does feel more tired than usual.
"Your body is burning up" Kenma doesn't look at her, but instead his tattoo glows through his clothes, and Naga and the boys appear. Naga takes her temperature, and she stares at Kenma for instructions. "Take her home for the night. Her body wants to heat up from the overexertion"
Kenma watches the girl dissapear from view. Her body had heated up, but it wasn't the fever heat, it seemed more like a new element. Her eyes had changed somehow, and her body was not overexerted. She had been practicing the same things as before, why was she heating up? He ignores it, and he takes Naga to bed. He could think about it the next time they trained. The thoughts plague his head for the night, and he's unable to get proper rest.
Crescent fights against Ignes and Elios' grip, but she's getting weak. She lets herself fall asleep for the time, and she feels Ignes and Elios fly her home. She hears her parents panic at the sight of their child in pain. They nurse her back to health, and when she wakes up, the outside of her eyes are gold. She shrieks, and she stares at herself in the mirror. There was no way this was happening. Her parents rush in to ask what happened, and she lets go of her face to show them. Firebending. The outside of her eyes were the color of a firebender's. How.
Her dad soothes her, and he takes her to their room. He explained to her that since they were distant cousins of the fire nation, it was kind of expected that they could always unlock firebending. She shrieks, and she panics. No, this couldn't be happening. If she went to bed, everything else would go back to normal again. She could feel it. Her dad holds her, and her mom wipes her tears. Her mom and dad share a knowing look, and her dad nods.
"Did you know I could bend fire as well?" Her dad holds out a flame, and Crescent stares in awe. It's the weekend, and she knows where she has to be. She throws on her clothes, and she tells her parents that she would be out. She races through the muddy streets of her neighborhood, and she enters into the tomb. She needed Kenma to train her, to teach her how firebending worked, she had to know. She had to learn another element. She couldn't defeat the dualbender without it. She needed to make changes to the school and bring Kenma back to life. She had to take this chance and win.
