Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

The day had passed peacefully. A little too peacefully. Crescent drummed her fingers against the railing of the balcony. An abandoned tower she had found, where she could enjoy herself and talk with her bird. Engravings in ancient languages covered the walls, drawings of phoenixes accompanied it. Golden letters and silver legends painted the walls, and the sun reflected off of the art.

"Cressie!" A voice rung out. There goes her peace.

"Good afternoon Mint. What brings you up the tower to find me?"

"I figured you'd be where all the past phoenix owners would be." He smiled, panting in between breaths. "There's a small surprise in the cafeteria. You wouldn't want to miss it"

"If it's Hatsuki asking Ice to Hoco then I'm not going" She snickered, though the idea did seem entertaining to her.

"Nope! Estelle is going to ask her crush to Hoco!"

"WAIT YES." Crescent pat her bird gently before running down the stairs. She wouldn't miss this for the world. Mint followed suit. She pushes past the crowd that had gathered and she gets to the front. Finding herself in the front row of people watching Estelle ask the boy, she grinned.

"Would... you go to Hoco with me?" Estelle mumbled. Her body is tense, and seemed as if she would break if not taken care of properly. She's lucky compared to a handful of other girls.

"Is that Felix? Holy shit it is" Crescent gasped silently.

"Of course! Who else would I go with?" The boy winked.

The boy had raven hair. From the angle Crescent stood at, she couldn't see his eyes. The thin figure twirled Estelle around. Golden eyes fit for a fire nation royal, and freckles that rivaled the stars. A crown pin rested on his chest and a- wait crown pin?

"Isn't he cute?" Mint whispered.

"He is? I mean he is the Fire Prince after all" Crescent replies, the keys clicking in her head.

"You know him?" Mint peers at the girl.

"Ok but who doesn't"

The commotion rubbed off as everyone went back to their tables. Estelle drags her hoco date to the table with the student council.

"ESTELLE YOU GOT YOURSELF SUCH A CUTE DATE KDSFSDHKF" Crescent rushed up to her.

"Thank you! Meet Felix! My Hoco date!" She beamed.

"Nice seeing you again Lix. It's been a solid 5 years" Crescent laughed.

"How could I possibly forget my favorite cousin" He faked a sob. "It's been so long. Did the government decide that you guys were to be locked in again?"

"Take a bold guess Lix"

"Cousin? You're related to an elite?" Hatsumi asked. Usually cousins of elites were to be marked as an elite as well. Crescent sure had a strange background.

"A distant one. I don't know how but I mean hey." Crescent shrugged.

"Who's your Hoco date Mint?" Hatsumi asked.

"No one. I'm sparing them the pain of not being able to stick by me the entire night." He sighed.

"You could always ask Hatsumi out? Ooh or someone else in the Student Council" Crescent beamed.

"Eh. If I'm gonna as someone out, then I'm going to be extra. Very extra" Mint chuckled.

"Who you asking?" Crescent eyed Ice.

"I don't know yet." He paused. "Hatsuki asked me to homecoming earlier but I said I'd think about it"

"Why not yes?"

"Why would I? I'm planning on asking someone else to Hoco"

"Oh? That's nice. How you gonna ask them out?" Mint peered.

"Maybe a romantic getaway, an extra festival, or maybe something secret and private." Ice shrugged. "But then again the chances of me being with them the entire night would be nonexistent. Spare them the pain"

"You all are so boring." Crescent groaned. "Can't you guys find some way to find a hoco date and not manage things? Maybe something easier?"
