Sagittarius, it is said that our element is fire, our quality is Mutable, that our power colour is blue, that our best day of the week is Thursday, we are Ruled by Jupiter, compatible with Gemini and Aries, my lucky numbers according to my sign is supposed to be 3,7,9,12 and 21.
I am reading the horoscope for my birthday it says my strengths are generous, idealistic and a great sense of humor, the list the paper has under weakness is promising more then able to deliver and this next one is right on very impatient and not sure about the say anything no matter how undiplomatic.
Amusing that it states we like freedom, travel, philosophy and being outdoors we don't like clingy people, being constrained, off the wall theories and some how details.
It reads that today Nov 22nd that my motivation today will come from my philosophical view of needing to search for the meaning of life, to take advantage of my extrovert enthusiasm and optimistic side to achieve my goals.
Ok, wow, I am feeling off, right now I am not cleared to race for a few different reasons and no not giving up, going to keep working hard to get back to what I love doing.
Interesting on the philosophical insight, we didn't cancel the plans for my 29th birthday, a special fundraiser that is $29.00 a ticket, at our community fair grounds, we manged to get rides donated, entertainment but have some vendors that have my permission to be selling at the event, as agreed to pay a vendor fee plus donate some of their proceeds to The Children's Hospital Network, means our local Children's hospital will get the money, and we have a charitable partner to help with tax receipts and licenses to hold the event.
Ads!, I forgot to check in with them to make sure it did run in the paper, the radio station and local t.v. station so seems every thing that was planned ended up in place before the race, but I would have wanted this to go even if I hadn't made it.
A wonderful smell becomes strong in my room, my family has out done themselves with a buffet breakfast in bed, waffles, fruit, back bacon, French toast and sausages, with another try with whipped cream, syrup, jam and butter.
"This smells incredible, who did what?" I grin as I inchoired.
"Bbq back bacon Tony style, happy birthday brother" said Tony with what is that term gusto? maybe lots of enthusiasm works best.
"Thank you, Tony" I take a bit, so good, I give him a thumbs up.
"Son, how can you not know what I made, since you could eat solid food, it's the birthday breakfast classic?."
"Ok Dad, I know waffles are you" take a bite and there are the best out of all my birthdays, "Dad, did you do something different to these waffles? I think these are your best yet."
"Yes, actually I grabbed the wrong flour out of the cupboard, it was cake flour not regular, I will make a note to self try that again. Happy birthday son."
"Thanks Dad" I took a few more bites.
"Mommy helped us with the French toast and sausages, and we put everything on the trays." awe this nieces are hust so cute, I try a bite of sausage first followed by French toast delicious.
"Thank you ladies that is definitely delicious think this is the best birthday yet." the three lovely ladies in my life bring it in for a hug.
"Did all of you eat yet?" I feel a little guilty with this buffet breakfast in bed. "yes" they said in unison. I add fruit and whipped cream to my waffles, syrup to my French toast and notice the orange juice and take a drink.
"Alright everyone time to let him eat we have to get ready for the birthday bash." Dad sounds and looks so excited, I'm thrilled and almost want to eat faster.
I finished my amazing breakfast in bed, and start getting ready, quick shower and shave, I put on a nice pair of Jean's, yes some given to me by one of the race sponsors so might as well wear them, I was given a shirt by Children's hospital network on one of my visits to the sick kids back before the race season started, I think it's a fitting choice. I pack my racesuit and head downstairs, bag on my lap, walker on the wheelchair spot and push the button and slowly down I go.
We drive into the fair grounds around 8am, for the next hour we are helping with set up. So far everything seems to be running smoothly.
The turn out is beyond what I thought we would get, looks like more then just our community, I feel so proud.
I did a recording for the announcements back at the beginning of July when just about every thing was finalized, it was a welcome official open type of thing, I was at the ribbon and it played.
"Welcome to what I hope becomes a yearly event, to raise money for the Children's hospital network, the fee to get into the event is my new age of 29 and you get to go on rides with your waist band, some food and entertainment, hope you did still bring some money to support the local vendors selling to support themselves and the cause and most of all I hope you have fun." with that I cut the ribbon some photos taken and I moved off to the side and gave hi fives and handshakes to my birthday guests.
Just beautiful, a hour of greeting everyone who had lined up early to get in and it still seems like more on the way, some took a little longer for photo optimization, some expressed gratitude for me hosting this along with happy birthday wishes, and what really touched me was some of my fans bringing donations of toys for the children in hospital.
My Dad came over to check on me, I told him I was fine and then showed him the pile of gifts for the kids, he got on his phone to see if we could get a truck to deliver them to the hospital as soon as possible. He also informed me what time it was and I excused myself as greeter to move on to the next station.
Though out the day, I introduced local talent, signed autographs, took part in a photo booth, helped hand out the free food and around one o'clock cut a huge cake, Thank goodness we had more then one, I think everyone got a slice of cake, by that point I needed a break and sat with some fans to eat my piece.
The ending of my birthday bash was a concert, thrill show combo complete with fireworks, today was a hit, no word yet on grand total of money raised but I have got to say, that was the best birthday ever.
