I awoke to an empty bed but, this wasn't a surprise anymore instead of worrying about Lucan, I did my morning routine and ,had breakfast. After my experience last night, journey outside, alone wasn't something I found appealing. Trapped in my thoughts I paid ignorance to Quinn who gave me a scare when my eyes registered his towering form leaning against the door-frame. He explained Lucan and the others had gone to investigate who had tried to kidnap me.
"Lucan was alright with you staying here?" my voice held disbelief.
"With forced persuasion from the Devil King and Death....yeah, he was fine with it" Quinn scratch his head nervously.
I giggled knowing Lucan's persona, "he'll get over it soon, don't worry about it" a gentle smile spread across his strong features.
"I don't think he'll allow ne to live muchmlonger" I burst out on laughter upon hearing his starement.
I, honestly knew nothing of his reputation and before this incident, the thought had not crossed my mind. Quinn looked around still maveled by the interior of Lucan's house. I giggled at his awestruck expression gazing at the painting which hung in Lucan's livingroom, it featured his parents along with a young raven haired female, youthful Cleus and another young man I could not recognize.
"That's, Mr. Lucan's uncle" this confused me further since the young man held an angelic appearance.
"Is he a demon?" Quinn shook his head indicating he wasn't, "So, he was an angel?"
"I don't know the story but he saved my life in the holy war and I never saw him after, that. He had often visited Hell decades prior" Quinn shrugged turning away from the frame hung center spot.
"Did your parents die in the holy war?" his eyes sadden as they looked, plunged into thought.
"I was only a couple centuries old but my memories before the war..... it's lost in darkness" Quinn admitted with a frown.
"I have a friend we can ask, if you would like to see your memories" he looked dumbfounded.
"There's someone who can restore my memory?" he looked truly joyous
"I'm sorry, you misunderstood me. There's someone who can show you certain events from your past"
He thought for a moment, pondering on my words before asking his next question.
"Will I be able to see my parents?"
His eyes bore into me and I couldn't bring myself to disappoint him.
"If they were part of your past then I'm sure you will"
Quinn gave a grateful smile, he was happy to once again have hope, of regaining some, memory. Time with him was enjoyable to the point time passes and you remain unaware. I had been laughing, clutching onto Quinn's shoulder for support as we sat on the couch. He had made me until my stomach cramped and lungs refused oxygen. A throat cleared nearby causing both our heads to snap in it's direction only to be met with amused looks from Cleus and Layton while Lucan held an annoyed expression. He wasted no time in separating us and carried me to his bedroom. Once inside he tossed me on the bed, walked into the bathroom and took a shower. Lucan got dressed and sat beside me, he only stared at me without a single word.
"What's wrong, Luc?" my eyes looked at him pleading for an honest answer instead he pulled me into a tight embrace, "You're staring to scare me" he simply chuckled.
"We're going to have a baby"
"Yeah, I'm reminded every minute of the day"
"You're a Chaos child"
"I'm fully aware of the fact"
"I was born with the demon king's devil"
"I figured that out, what's wrong, Luc?"
"Our child... everyone will be after their power. Can we protect them?" I was shocked by his words, Lucan has never doubted his capabilities..... at least, never to me.
"If we can't, then we weren't worthy of the power our souls held nor were we worthy of that child"
Lucan returned my shock expression yet it didn't last long being replace by a gentle, caring smile. We looked at each other as though it was our final goodbye and if I had known what future days held, Lucan's worried expression wouldn't be puzzling to me. I fell asleep in his warm arms, wrapped securely around me and a rhythmic heartbeat accompanied me into the unknown abyss.
Lyra waited for me, tonight. She wasn't accompanied by her mustic halo and wings, instead she held a human form yet their was nothing normal about her. Silver hair ran in waterfalls down her back and shoulders while violet eyes gaze out at darkness as though waiting for a reply. Once noticing my presence she wore a bright smile, walking towards me.
"How did you know I wanted to talk with you?" I giggled approaching her.
"I'm always listening to you" a mischievous smile accompanied her cryptic words.
"Now, I'm a little frightened" her smile dropped being raided by a frown.
"I came on offical official business..."
"Why don't you have the same appearance?" she sighed with watery eyes, "What's wrong? Did I say something offensive?" I began panicking.
"It's my fault" her head hung as small droplets fell from their shield, "It's all my fault, I'm sorry Ash. I'm so sorry" she weeped.
"It's alright. I'm fine. See?" I did a small twirl smiling brightly, "Can you explain what's wrong?" she nodded hesitantly.
"I was searching for the choas child before you, I found him but..." Lyra took a deep breath, "You were correct, there was a reason he did not reset everything. He was able to control his abilities hence making him stronger"
"Why didn't he complete his purpose?" my tone was serious abandoning my previous cheerful voice.
"You're the reason. Ashlin, you're stronger than he could ever be, for this reason he agreed with God to shelter you until he retrieves you"
"But, I left Heaven. Why hasn't he come?"
"You've been close to Lucan and bonded with his Devil. Lucan's devil is known to have cloaking abilities and you're carrying their child, I can understand why he'll place a cloaking barrier around you" I stood in utter bewilderment.
"Lucan has been protecting me from him?" Lyra nodded, "Now, he knows where I am" she nodded once more, "And your appearance is like this because you fought with him" she looked at me in confirmation.
"I was barely able to escape and when I did, most of my power had been drained along with half of my spiritual energy. I may die soon." her words were sad but she wore a joyous smile.
