Maria's eyes cracked open, after what seemed like months of slumber. Her eyelids fluttered lightly as she was trying to focus her gaze, on her surroundings. Her fingerprints glided over the soft fabric of her sheets, realizing she was in her bed. Straightening her body she looked around the room, and with a everlasting sigh she realized that this wasn't her room at all. With a steady hand she stroked her forehead, just to realize her arm was hooked onto something. She took a panicked glance towards what appeared to be holding her arm captive, only to realize that she was once again hooked to one of those heart monitors. She let out a grunt as she tried to figure out what was happening around her, only to realize that the pounding sensation in her head wasn't just her imagination.
"What..h-happened.." Maria stuttered as she laid her head back down on the pillow. The sharp pain in her head wouldn't let her stay up for too long.
As she was struggling to keep her eyes open she heard the doorknob click, and the door slid open, only to reveal the face of her beloved Logan. The man walked in, holding flowers and a coffee. He kneeled to the bed and began gently stroking her hair.
"I have missed you so much..." He whispered to her, in his soothing childlike voice as he stroked her long, red locks."I couldn't bare not being able to see you..." Logan whispered quietly as he set the flowers on the bedside table." It's been so long Maria. Our son has grown up well..." He spoke once again. His deep hazel eyes glistering with happiness of seeing his loved one again.
"Did I die..." Maria whispered softly, with a hitched breath, but somehow calmly as if the thought of this didn't bother her at all.
Logan chuckled softly as he took her soft hand into his."Well...you almost did." He whispered softly into her ear.
Unparsed by time Logan stood next to Maria's hospital bed, stroking her hair as if he had been longing for her for years. Unlike her he didn't look a day older, while she had aged quite a lot from the last time they met. They straightened their bodies, Logan pulling Maria out of bed, holding her by the hand. " I know you have to go my love, but let my selfish heart have you for a little longer." He whispered tenderly in her ear as he pulled her closer to him with a smile like honey and eyes filled with a deep sadness.
He pulled her by the waist, a little bit closer to him, his head falling over Maria's shoulder, taking in her scent. " You are just as beautiful as ever darling." He whispered in her ear as he took her hand into his, placing the other one on her waist, as if they were about to engage in a waltz.
They danced to no music at all for what seemed like hours. His hands taking in her gentle curves, her long curly hair, the softness of her skin and the scent of her body, a smell of cherry perfume, the perfume that reminded him of summer. They didn't speak, they couldn't. All they could do was save the moment for themselves.
After a long while he took her hand once again, leading her to the bed. He helped her lay back down again, planting a soft kiss over her tired lips.
" Please…don't let me wake up..I'm not ready yet." She whispered as she felt tears streaming down her cheeks.
"Don't think about it too much love, we will meet again I promise." Logan whispered to her as he wiped away her tears." You have to go back to our son…"And with those final words, he left.
Maria tried to scream, reaching for the door her eyes shoot open, only to realize that she was now awake in the same hospital room, on the same hospital bed, but this time all alone.
