Scarlet stared at the two on the ground in surprise. How had Mac grabbed Owen's face? She thought that anyone who touched him would cause him pain, even his parents couldn't touch him. So why could Mac? Scarlet didn't want her new found friends to realize she hadn't known this information, even though the surprise was evident on her face. She said the first thing that came to mind.
"I guess true love does conquer all." She laughed as everyone else did. She noticed Owen's face going bright red and Mac getting angrier. Mac stood up and got in Scarlet's face.
"What the fuck is your problem!?" He spit in her face, he was so close she could see the dust in his eyelashes. She stayed cool and laughed at him. She was getting a little worried but doubted Owen would let him do anything. Owen didn't want to make trouble for his dad so he wouldn't do anything to hurt her.
"Nothing." She chirped unbothered, "Weak people need to be put in their place, that's all this is." She smiled deviously, the principle was looking at Owen with malice. She knew she wouldn't be reprimanded. Mac had clearly had enough of it though, he pushed her harshly back. Her eyes flew open in surprise as she stumbled. No one tried to catch her but she regained her balance herself. She looked at Mac in disbelief.
"You will regret it if you choose to fight me. I promise. I'll have you thrown out of this school." She snarled, Scarlet glanced around at all the people who started to gather. Her new friends were just watching not lifting a finger to help. Mac looked pissed and the room felt as if it was heating up. Owen shouted something, but it was in a weird throaty language. Everyone seemed surprised and looked at Owen, Mac didn't back down. It was as if he didn't even hear Owen and had tunnel vision for Scarlet. Suddenly flames started to burn in Mac's hair, Scarlet's eyes widened. He was a flame user, she smiled a little knowing this wouldn't get anywhere. She was a demon, flames couldn't hurt her unless the user was more powerful, her being the princess usually that meant only other demons of royal blood. Definitely not a high school witch.
Mac charged at Scarlet again, his fist catching fire as he went to punch her. Scarlet dodged the fist and some poor guy behind her got slammed in the face. Mac wasted no time turning and kicking Scarlet with a flamed foot, this time it landed. Scarlet made an oof sound and stumbled back a bit. His kick was strong but the fire hadn't hurt her. Scarlet got into a fighting stance, she had been trained to fight. A class forced on her by her father. Mac swung again and Scarlet swiftly dodged and landed a knee to Mac's ribs. He grunted but otherwise seemed unaffected. Scarlet tried to land another blow before he could, to her surprise he grabbed her foot and pulled it out from under her. Before she hit the ground he grabbed her by the arm and pulled her up. She was off balance and stumbled, that's when Mac full on head butted her. Scarlet yelped and fell back again, this time falling on her ass. Mac relentlessly went for another hit, this time with his flames, he started blasting her clearly not getting the hint that it wouldn't work. Anyone who was standing nearby stepped back, Scarlet took the chance and jumped through the flames and punched Mac in the face. He stopped using magic and stumbled.
Before Scarlet could land another blow she heard yelling. "Knock it off!! Both of you!" The principle had stepped in, Scarlet noticed the chairs and tables had begun to melt due to the heat. Owen ran up to Mac, rambling in an unknown language. "All three of you. My office. Now." He looked mad, Scarlet assumed it was only due to the property damage. Something Owen's parents had more than enough money to cover.
"What did Owen do? He shouldn't have to come!" Mac said still aggravated. Owen also looked at the principle in surprise. Scarlet smirked.
"Owen was the instigator for the fight and therefore involved. He is coming." The principle said to Mac, clearly on Scarlet's side. Mac's face turned red while Scarlet filled with glee. She wouldn't be getting in trouble. All three kids followed the principle back to his office and were sat in the chairs. The secretary looked at them and shook her head.
"Now I want to know why you felt the need to attack Miss Scarlet here." The principle stated, sitting at his desk. Scarlet tried to look at upset as possible, she wanted to make herself seem like the victim.
"She came up to us first, she was saying and doing things to hurt Owen. You watched the whole thing!" Mac said furiously. The principle sighed and looked at Mac.
"The only thing I saw Mr. Byrne, was you attacking the princess for no reason." Scarlet smiled wickedly, forgetting she was supposed to be playing victim. Getting away with things in the school would be easy if everyone wanted to stay on her good side. The principle wasn't going to do anything against her.
"Are you serious?! You're just going to defend her?" Owen grabbed Mac's arm and shook his head no.
"We are sorry Mr. Carson. We will make up for the damages I promise." Owen said politely, and in English this time Scarlet noticed. The principle glared but nodded his head.
"Oh, I know you will. I'm calling your father and mother Owen. You and Mac will be getting detention, while your parents also pay for replacements. Tonight after school, you and Mac will clean up the cafeteria." Owen agreed silently while Scarlet celebrated in her head. She will win more brownie points with his parents, seeing as though their son and his friend attacked the princess they are supposed to be protecting. Mac was steaming but refused to say anything that would get Owen in more trouble.
"And you," The principle looked at Mac once more. "I won't be calling your parents, but you will inform them of this event today." Owen nodded for Mac who was too angry to answer. Scarlet stopped smiling, even though Mac got detention he wasn't getting as severe punishment as Owen. Owen hadn't even fought her, or raised his voice at her. She looked at the principle in thought, he must've disliked Owen before she got here. She figured she could use it to her advantage.
"I'm dearly sorry for Mr.Byrne's behavior princess. I promise nothing like this will happen again." Scarlet nodded sadly, trying her best to look hurt.
"Of course you're not at fault principle. I'm sure Mac only felt threatened by my presence since me and Owen get along so well. Lovers quarrel I guess." The principles brow lifted at this new information, suddenly taking note of Owens hand still on Macs arm. Scarlet tried to look as angelic as possible, as much as it made her sick. Owen quickly removed his arm while Mac glared at Scarlet.
"Ah, yes. If it's just that then I'm sure this won't happen again. Right Mac?" The principle glared at Mac. He nodded reluctantly. Mac and Scarlet were dismissed from the office while Owen stayed to wait for his parents. Scarlet hummed as she walked down the hall to her next class while Mac stayed outside of the principle's office hoping to catch Owen's parent's before the principle did. Scarlet was happy with how the day turned out, she had made lots of friends and guaranteed a way to get at Owen without getting in trouble. Everyone at the school seemed to think he was weird and disliked him. They said he was stuck up and wouldn't make friends with anyone cause his dad was a knight. Scarlet knew that it wasn't true, nothing about Owen was stuck up. He was just shy, but if she could ruin his image then hers would stay high. She only hoped she could get her fire in the next two days.
