Axel sat outside looking out into the forest deep in thought. He was thinking about Thomas and why he was attacked. He had smoked almost a whole pack of cigarettes just to destress. The vampire was willing to risk death in order to drink his blood. Axel knew that fairy blood was precious to vampires but "pure" fairy blood was better? He didn't understand what was considered pure or why that tasted better. Yet he tried to put the pieces together. The wolves hadn't had a problem with vampires in years, decades even. other than a few coming to taunt them while they are on patrol. Nothing he had experienced himself. He sighed and laid back onto the ground. He could hear footsteps approaching him but knew it was his friend.
"Why are you still out here? Your dad left for Thomas' house a long time ago."
"I can't stop thinking about what Thomas said. There's so much we don't understand about our enemy, unless we aren't told this stuff. If the later is true then why are we not told? Is it something our Alpha is hiding from us?" Axel questioned, he was filled with questions that his dad ignored.
"You know what your dad said, Don't read too much into it. People who are qualified will. We are just on guard during school hours."
"Yeah, but it doesn't feel like just that. It feels like somethings gonna go down. And it's gonna be big."
"I'm sure it's just a freak incident ok? Everything will be fine. Now come inside." Issac kicked Axel's leg and held a hand out. Axel looked back at the forest for a second before taking it and getting up. Issac patted him on the back and they walked toward the house. Axel was just stepping inside when he heard a crash in the kitchen followed by hysterical laughter. He furrowed his brows, no one usually cooks this late. Him and Issac walked to the kitchen only to see two girls laughing their asses off with dishes all over the floor. Issac smiled and stepped towards them, Axel looked at him confused.
"And what are you two doing up so late?" He asked leaning against the counter. Axel raised a brow at his flirty tone. Then the girls looked up, the slightly taller one caught his eye, he felt his wolf stir and go crazy. He lost his breath and just gaped. The shorter girl gave a remark back at Issac but he wasn't listening. His focus was on the other girl completely. He must have stared too long because Issac tapped him and he was suddenly able to breath again, and that was when he smelt her. He almost went over to grab her and just sniff her but he held himself back. With his wolf still going crazy he smiled.
"I'm sorry, I was just really surprised about the mess. Our cooks never get this messy." Issac looked at him weird, Axel supposed it was because his wolf was trying to come out.
"Sorry, we were too short to reach the mixing bowls for our cookies." The girl replied sheepishly looking at the mess. Axel almost groaned out loud at the sound her her voice, it was angelic.
"Bro, what's up with your eyes?" the shorter girl asked. Axel attention snapped to her. He tried to calm himself down and control his wolf.
"Yeah, what is up with your eyes?" Issac asked looking concerned, obviously knowing his wolf was trying to come out. Axel gave him a look that told him he would tell him later.
"It's a wolf thing, What are you guys doing here? I've never seen you before, and how do you know Issac?" Axel asked quickly changing the subject.
"I see you have the same habit of asking a boat load of questions." The shorter girl said in a joking tone. The taller one smacked her but smiled.
"They are the guests your dad told us we would be getting, the ones everyone's talking about." Axel looked at him confused. "You didn't listen to anything that your dad said did you?" Axel shrugged.
"Well they are angels, their queen sent them here to find the ones from the prophecy." Axel looked at them and back at Issac. He couldn't see any sign of them joking.
"Like...the big prophecy?" He asked unsure.
"Yeah, go ahead and laugh." The gorgeous girl said. Axel instantly frowned, why would he ever make fun of her.
"I'm not laughing." Axel said, hoping the girl would stop frowning.
"I also never got your names..." Issac said looking at the girls expectantly.
"I'm Breanna but everyone calls me breezy." The shorter girl said. Issac gave her a quizzical look. "Don't ask."
Axel looked at the other girl who was smiling at breezy knowingly. He couldn't wait to hear her name, his wolf was practically running laps.
"My names Mia." She said softly, Axel's eyes flashed as his wolf went crazy again.
'Mia. Mia. Mia. She's perfect. Claim her!' Axel wolf howled in his head.
'Shut up! Calm down. You'll scare her.' Axel mumbled to himself.
"Excuse me?" She asked. Axel eyes focused again, Issac was smirking at him and the girls were looking at him weirdly.
"Sorry, nothing." Mia didn't look convinced. "You still haven't told me how you know Issac." Axel diverted the conversation again.
"It was actually similar to this, except we were looking for the kitchen to make ourselves dinner." Axel nodded and looked back at the mess on the floor. "Are you guys gonna finish your cookies?" He asked.
"Yeah, before you so rudely interrupted." Breezy stated sarcastically.
"I think we heroically came to check on you." Issac smirked flirtatiously. Breezy made a face.
"What did I say last time." Issac frowned.
"Ugh, we are going to bed. Save us some cookies ok?" Issac walked towards Axel who was in no hurry to leave.
"In your dreams. I'm eating all these bad boys." Mia laughed, It was like music to Axel's ears. He could listen to it all day. He wanted to record it and play it on repeat. Issac rolled his eyes and pushed Axel towards the door.
Issac and Axel left the kitchen and got a few feet down the hall before Issac started asking questions.
"What the hell were you doing in there? And what was your wolf doing?" Issac asked him astonished. "I've never seen you lose control like that."
"Mia..." Axel wolf purred. The name felt good on his tongue, almost dangerously good. "I think...I know she's my mate." He sighed out. He rubbed his face with his hands, his mate was literally an angel.
"No fucking way...I mean I had a suspicion but man." Axel nodded, and then groaned. He wanted to go back into the kitchen and just hold her. He wanted to smell her and learn everything about her.
"I feel like I'm losing my mind."
"You look like your losing your mind, and over a girl who doesn't even know your name." Issac laughed while Axel swore.
"I didn't tell her my name! How stupid am I?" His eyes flashed again as his wolf tried to come out.
'We need to go back. I need more. Let me out.'
'Shut it. She's not like us. She can't feel the bond.' Axel mumbled to his wolf.
"Luther giving you a hard time?" Issac smirked looking like he was enjoying himself. Axel glared with Luther's eyes. "Shit, a really hard time"
Axel groaned and gripped his hair as he sank to the floor, he was starting to develop a migraine from keeping Luther in.
'Just let me out. It'll make it easier on the both of us. We can go back and talk to her more.' It took everything in Axel not to do just that, it seemed to benefit him but would it scare Mia? At the worst time Mia's laugh echoed down the hall again. Axel groaned again, her laugh was like nicotine to him. He could probably get his fix just from her laugh and voice.
"Shit dude, come on let's get you to your room. Hopefully that helps." Issac said, still finding it humorous but helping his friend.
When Axel got to his room he felt better yet worse at the same time. He couldn't hear her laugh or smell her, he also couldn't be tempted by the short distance. Yet the distance made him feel empty, their meeting had been so short and bittersweet. He needed to go back to her. He flopped on his bed as Issac watched from the door.
"Should I get your dad?" Issac asked, trying to be helpful.
"No, I'll be fine. I'll try to sleep." Issac nodded before saying goodnight and shutting the door quietly. Axel tried to get comfortable but nothing felt right, he could feel himself going crazy for her. Usually when two wolves are mates they both feel it and bond and hold each other right away. But Axel couldn't do that, he couldn't scare her away or she could walk away forever and that thought hurt more than the distance did. He laid in bed as his wolf still ran circles through his mind. He figured he wouldn't be getting much sleep.
