Chapter 5 - Explorer Bots and The Beasts they Encountered in Planet Tordha!

The scene continued like a movie or a video that had been resumed after pressing the 'play' button. That said, everyone remained silent as the old man gave them a cold gaze.

"What are you guys staring at?" The old man asked as he rubbed his shiny scalp. Then, he took a deep breath and said, seriously, "Sorry to break your hopes up but... I am not into men!"

"..."

Everyone, even Corvus, stared towards the old man for a few seconds before bursting into laughter. The old man could only stare back towards them--confused as to why everyone was laughing. Of course, the old man had a hunch as to why they were laughing. But, he didn't dare interrupt them because it helped lighten the tense air in the room earlier.

After almost a minute, the old man faked a cough in order to attract the attention of everyone once again. Then, he said, "Everyone, please calm down. I am about to start the briefing about planet Tordha."

Everyone followed in response. Some of them even wiped the tears of joy from their eyes as they try their best to hold their laughter. On the other hand, Corvus had calmed himself earlier than everyone else and was attentive to what the old man would say.

When everyone had calmed down, the old man did not waste another second and started the briefing regarding the planet Tordha. The monitor in front of everyone displayed a map showing a forest separating a plain from a mountain range.

Afterward, the old man walked towards the center part of the 'blackboard like' monitor and highlighted the area at the foot of the mountain. Then, he said, "The last recorded location of our Explorer Bots is somewhere here! So, far... From the drop-off area in the plain up to this area, the explorer bots were only able to encounter a few kinds of beasts that had electric or lightning affinity."

Videos of the beasts popped out and was displayed at the part of the forest where the explorer bots encountered them. At the entrance of the forest, the explorer bots encountered a snake that was coiled in the branch of the black-colored rubber looking trees.

It's body glowed brightly like a lightbulb as it emmit sparks that was able to electrecute an explorer bot that got close into it. Fortunately, those snakes were passive and could be easily spotted in the forest, consequently allowing the explorer bots go deeper into the forest.

The next magical beast that the explorer bots were able to encounter were tons of firefly looking insects that made a net of electricity and was able to toast an explorer bot into ashes. This time, the explorer bots were able to proceed even further into the forest because after the firefly looking insect was able to toast an explorer bot, its glow vanishes together with the 'net of electricity', indicating that it had lost all its 'electrical charge'.

The last beast that the explorer bots were able to encounter was a wolf looking beast. It had white spikey fur and was as large as a small car. The danger posed by this beast lies in the electrical field that it makes when it howled angrily. Multiple Explorer Bots were electrecuted with in the several meter radius area of the electrical field it made.

Fortunately, the electricity emited by the wolf looking beast was not as strong as the electricity released by the firefly looking insects and was only enough to paralyze the explorer bots and keep them in place. That said, the wolf looking beast took those chances to attack the explorer bots and destroy them.

The only reason why the explorer bots were able to pass through this beast was because of their quantity. Hundreds of explorer bots were sent while the wolf looking beast that they encountered were only four. In addition to this, the wolf looking beast had a slow movement because of its gigantic size. And at the same time, the electrical field it made only had a limited range.

Despite witnessing those said recorded videos, everyone in the briefing room remained silent. Watching the recordings was enough for them to know what to do in case they encounter such beasts. Yes, it possed a threat to them. But, at the least, they know what to do when they encounter them during their mission.

That said, Everyone was more interested or curious about the reason as to why the explorer bots were not able to enter the mountain range despite the fact that there were several hundred more bots to explore even further and find the Dungeons normally hidden in caves or deep with in the mountains.

After giving some time for everyone to watch and absorb the information regarding those beasts, the old man swiped the screen to the left--making the screen display the recordings of the last seconds of the remaining explorer bots.

As the explorer bots get closer to the foot of the mountain, the leaves of the rubber looking trees became larger, enough to overlap from one another and consequently hindering light from above to pass through.

The temperature recorder of the explorer bots also indicated that the deeper they go into the forest, somehow, the more the temperature increases. This somehow bewildered some of the people in the briefing room, who had good perception and grasp of the events and the surroundings.

But before those people could ask a question, a beam of light shot out from the ground instantly piercing through each explorer bot before the connections were slowly lost. This event had even startled some people in the briefing room, including Corvus, to the point that they gasped out of astonishment.

"What was that?" One of the people that was startled, asked.

The old man simply smirked as he paused the recording showing the vague image of the beam before it hit the explorer bot. However, the image was still too bright for anyone to notice something odd.

It was only when the old man tapped the monitor once again and the brightness of the screen was reduced to its lowest, did everything became clear. It was no other than a hamster looking beast that somehow shot like a lightning--piercing through anything that stands in its way.

Knowing that it was the reason for the anhialation of the hundreds of remaining explorer bots, everyone's faces went pale as their minds cram for a way to survive the unfathomable beast. Fortunately, before anyone could raise their white flags and retract their decision to participate in the mission, the old man smirked as his hand becomes fluid and drips like a magma.

Each drop that lands into the floor makes a 'tsss' sound that awed everyone from the unexplainable phenomenon occuring right in front of them. Consequently, this made the old man chuckle and say, "You don't have to think about these wild beasts. Let them come. We'll see who's hotter! They are nothing to us, dungeon hunters!"
