The auburn girl was visibly shaken by what she had just witnessed. The blonde glanced at her wings and clapped her hands twice and her beautiful form vanished and instead was replaced by a navy blue jumper with golden stars, a pair of black jeans, a pair of black ankle boots and no wings, and the girl now smiled at Evelyn.
"I'm Claire deLuna, the good witch of solar light." The girl... Claire, said proudly, offering her hand for Evelyn to shake.
Evelyn shook the witch's hand "I thought witches didn't have wings?"
She wasn't an expert in the subject, but Evelyn wasn't sure if witches did or didn't have wings. Who knows if they did or didn't? Claire chuckled at the strange girl before her
"It varies depending on the user. I only got here through that portal at that little stretch of beach down there when I saw that change, I flew up and noticed you were the cause of that change and then that branch was about to hit you when I stopped it."
Evelyn's eyes widened open. She was the cause of the change of the weather. Claire grabbed her hands and looked, then observed the auburn girl's attire.
"Is this the fashion custom of Earth now? It's very strange." The witch mused.
Claire had only meant that as an innocent question, Evelyn frowned and tore her hands away from the solar witch.
"I came from a funeral yesterday and I fell asleep wearing this dress and I felt like a walk so I'm wearing joggers. What's with that outfit with those wings?" Evelyn changed the subject quickly.
Claire just smiled at the oddly dressed young woman before her
"Witches have a form that works for humans and a form for our magical practices. The form is created based on your powers and your kingdom's origins, I'm from Lunaris, the solar light kingdom, which the sun, moon, stars and sometimes space are also my powers, so my witch form reflects on my power. Each design is unique. So, what's your power and where's your kingdom?" Claire beamed brighter than the sun when she spoke of her world.
Evelyn could only humbly speak "I don't have a power and Australia is recognised as a Commonwealth, but ruled by Elizabeth II"
Evelyn stood with her mind racing with all the information she had read on the various royal families and their departures from royal life. Evelyn's family, like some Australians, didn't have a personal problem with the British Royal family, but Evelyn, like half of the Australian population, wonder why Elizabeth II was head of state. Some even wanted Australia to become a Republic like Russia had been after the Revolution of 1917 that ended the Romanov's 300-year rule, or France who had two revolutions end two monarchies, the first revolution started during Marie Antoinette's tenure as Queen Consort of France which became resolved with Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette being executed, and the second revolution of 1848 bringing the end of Louis Phillippe I's tenure as King and Napoleon's reign and first President of the French Republic.
Claire was curious "Elizabeth II? Is she a good witch in your kingdom...?"
"No, look there's no such thing as witches. People practice and study witchcraft, but I don't think there's been such thing. People used the term to excuse their crimes in condemning and killing innocent people, such as the example of Salem, Massachusetts." Evelyn said, even if she was unsure of what she just saw.
Claire nodded and snapped back into her happy self "What's your name? I'm so rude I forgot to ask it."
"Evelyn Blake, of Elysian Harbour, New South Wales, Australia," Evelyn said. Elysian Harbour may not be a kingdom or a city, but she was proud to call it home.
The two girls jumped as Evelyn's phone rang, and the auburn girl pulled it out and answered. Claire watched and looked around her. She watched as the whales and dolphins playing in the water and smiled at the scene. Evelyn returned to the solar light witch moments later.
"My parents are going to get breakfast, I hope you don't mind hash browns from a local takeaway. Come on, my house isn't too far from here." Evelyn said bluntly, though remaining polite to Claire. Claire had offered Evelyn a kindness she never knew from her years at primary or high school.
Claire followed the auburn girl. As they walked from the park to the Blakes house and entered the house. Claire looked at the furniture and photographs displayed throughout the house.
Claire chuckled "Who decorated your house? It's quite... cute."
Claire looked at various photos of the Blakes' wedding, baby photos of Evelyn and observed a photo of Danny.
"Who's this handsome man?" Claire curiously asked.
"My brother. His funeral was yesterday." Evelyn said mournfully. Claire covered her mouth with her hand and bowed her head down.
"As Crown Princess and future Queen of Lunaris, myself, my family and my people offer our condolences," Claire said respectfully, bowing her head and placing a hand on her heart.
Evelyn blinked. She never in her life received condolences from a royal, or an entire country before.
"The living room's this way" Evelyn pointed.
Evelyn led Claire to the living room, where the TV was playing the morning news, and the fireplace was blackened from the floral fire of last night. Two coffee cups were left on the coffee table as Claire sat on the lounge.
The Lunaris Princess was curious about her new friend "So, what happened to make you react so strongly, Evie?"
"My brother's killer... she showed up to his funeral, taking the attention off him, and I have been bottling up my emotions since he died that I just screamed my head off. Because I was just. So. Angry." Evelyn spoke, her hands clutching into fists and her dark eyes threatened to shed tears.
Claire was appalled to hear how Earth judges its wrongdoers. "In Caleste, the capital kingdom of Hecatia, the Fates are the justice system. I hope they will judge this murderer if these non-magical fates won't."
As the Lunaris princess exclaimed, she had made Evelyn laugh for the first time since the news of her brother's death reached her ears.
Evelyn asked "What's Hecatia?" Claire beamed with literal joy.
"Hecatia is the Magical Realms combined, created by our very first Empress Hecate, who was 10 when her mother, a good witch, was killed by her father, a King. Hecate found the Magical Realms by complete accident and the early mystics raised her and soon the Magical Realms became a haven for the mystics from the prejudices of humankind. The Elders of Hecatia wished to wait until the humans became more accepting of magic to allow us to practice or even reveal ourselves to the humans, but if you caused that weather change, then clearly you're a witch too!" Claire explained excitedly
WHAT THE F.....!!!
