Chapter 9 - Chapter Eight ~ Blake Women Do Better On Our Own Anyways

"Hi. I believe you kidnapped my friend."

The two villainesses, Keriana Moreno and Erica Scarab, turned around to see Evelyn standing there. The auburn-haired girl could see her friend was unconscious and hovering up and down. The two villains smirked at each other.

"Aww, look, Erica, Princess Claire's got a bodyguard, isn't that cute?"

"Sickening, isn't it, Mistress?"

"Very sickening."

"Perhaps a touch of the Moreno darkness should teach her?"

"You know me so well, Scarab."

Keriana pointed both her palms at Evelyn, causing the young woman to fling through the air and fall on her side. Evelyn winced in pain as she got up slowly, shocking and surprising the two nasty girls.

"I got that treatment as a kid, you're not exactly different from them. A pathetic bitch looking to cause trouble because she can't admit she's got problems."

"Shut up!"

Keriana blasted Evelyn, causing her to fall close to the unconscious Princess of Lunaris, which made the princess slowly wake up and realise where she was.

"Ev....? What the hell happened?"

"Shit! Nice going, Ev, was it?"

"You blasted me in her direction. Kinda your fault."

"Don't speak to your future Empress like that!"

"No citizen or royal of Umbra would become Emperor or Empress of Hecatia. Just stick to Umbra, it should be enough!"

"Hmmm..... nope!"

Claire raised her palms and a bright light shone in Keriana and Erica's eyes, blinding them, as Claire grabbed Evelyn and ran outside of the pawn shop. The young women didn't stop running until they arrived at the Brews Cafe back on Spells Parade. The two relaxed and each had a cup of tea, Evelyn's was a simple iced tea, and as Claire was sipping her chamomile tea, Evelyn pulled out the pouch.

"I found this on the floor of my bedroom. A citrine shaped as a star. It's pretty, also real citrine."

"Oh, thank Hecate! Mummy would be angry if I lost this. As the Princess of Lunaris, it's my duty to protect the Citrine Star."

"Fitting name for it. Is that why they're after you? Those girls from the pawn shop?"

Keriana Moreno and Erica Scarab. They'll be attending the Erebus Institute of Evil, no doubt."

"I'm just glad you're okay."

"So am I. Mummy said I should have guards, but I should really have a damn good friend. How'd you find me, anyways?"

"I met this man who owns the Caleste Magical Antiquities, and he gifted me these palm held mirrors, I asked it a question and it took me to you."

"Any chance he has more of these mirrors?"

"Definitely."

So Evelyn returned to Caleste Magical Antiquities on Potter Lane, with Claire, and upon entry, Leonard perked his head up to see the auburn girl, this time with a blonde.

"Hello again."

"Ah, hello. I see you found your friend."

"With thanks to you. Now, I believe you have a similar mirror? I'd like to buy every single one you have in stock."

"All five of them?"

"Yep. All five of them. They'll be incredibly useful."

"And who shall I say is buying the mirrors?"

"Her Royal Highness Claire deLuna, Crown Princess of Lunaris and good witch of solar light."

"Of course, your highness."

Now with five hand held mirrors tucked away in pouches, and in a bag, Claire and Evelyn walked to Portal Station and back to Elysian Harbour, unaware of the recent development to Evelyn's life as she knew it.

The house felt cold and hateful as Evelyn and Claire entered the Blake residence. Claire looked at the kitchen bench where a piece of paper stood out. Evelyn heard sobbing and ran to the living room to find her beloved mother, Rosalyn, weeping endlessly. A framed photo of Rosalyn's wedding to Harland had been shattered, and tissues strewn about the floor.

Evelyn ran to her crying mother "Mum? Hey, hey, what's happened?"

Rosalyn sniffled before speaking

"Oh... Evie... your father left me. He.... he said that he's been s-seeing this other woman and...and he wanted to wait until Chr-Christmas but with Danny's death, he p-p-picks less than two days after the funeral.... to tell me he's l-l-leaving me."

Rosalyn resumed sobbing, clutching a photo of her, Evelyn and Danny close to her chest, her sobbing becoming louder and more heartbreaking. Claire was so sad for the mother of her friend/saviour. Rosalyn seems to be a nice woman who had already dealt a harsh blow of losing a child. The Lunarisian Princess walked closer to help comfort her friend's mother. Evelyn hugged her Mum as she wept into her daughter's shoulder.

"Oh, mama.... I'm so sorry...."

"I've already g-g-got a divorce lawyer and I told the l-l-lawyer that you're 18, there won't be a c-c-c-custody iss-iss-issue, b-besides... Blake women do better on our own anyway, it was a long time coming... w-what did you wanna di-di-discuss?"

"Well... Claire told me about this University...."

Claire nodded You wouldn't need to pay a dime. The school offered her a scholarship and I told my parents to pay for her as well."

Rosalyn looked at the two girls blankly "Oh...."

Evelyn noticed her mother's expression and reassured her "But I will always come and visit and they do have holiday breaks, for Easter, and Christmas and the winter and summer, and I'll call and text you every night."

Rosalyn sighed before grabbing her daughter's hands and holding into them "Do you really want to go?"

Evelyn nodded "Yes. I need to learn more about my abilities and why I'm a witch."

"And she won't be alone, I'm with her." Claire said, hopefully reassuring the human woman.

"You're a witch? I-I always kn-knew you were sp-special, but...but... but...but a witch?" Rosalyn said.

"A good witch. L-FAM is a school for good and neutral witches, warlocks, merpeople and elves." Claire said "Your daughter will be one of many mystics to do good things for our worlds."

Rosalyn tried not to cry as she looked her daughter in her eyes "If... if this is w-what y-y-y-you w-w-want...."

Evelyn smiled reassuringly "I'll keep in contact every single day. And I'll stay with you for holidays."

"O-ok-k-okay..... Who's the blonde?" Rosalyn finally asked

Claire extended her hand to shake Rosalyn's "I'm Claire, by the way. Solar light witch."

"I saved her from two bitches, Mama." Evelyn said.

Claire agreed "You raised a hell of a daughter. In a good way."

THUMP!

A bird flew down the fireplace and slapped onto the coffee table, attracting the attention of the Blake women and Claire. Evelyn opened the fireplace's door to see the bird with a envelope in its beak, and grabbed the envelope which was addressed to her, when her hands began to shake.

Rosalyn spoke "We've never had birds fly into our fireplace."

Claire recognised the envelope and the bird "That's a messenger raven from Hecatia with a note from L-FAM."

Rosalyn looked at her child "Well? What does it say, sweetie?"

"I can't read it. I'm too worried." Evelyn said, terrified of a bad result.

Claire gently grabbed the envelope from her friend "I'll read it, okay."

Claire opens it, and reads the letter inside. The Blake women looked at the solar light witch carefully.

"Well?" Rosalyn asked.

"Good or bad?" Evelyn questioned

Claire began to read "Dear Miss Evelyn Blake, we are so thrilled to inform you that you have been accepted...'

Rosalyn calmly exclaimed "What?!"

"Really?!" Evelyn asked excitedly

Claire resumed "... to join the LeFay Academy of Magic. Please have these necessities listed down below and be at the capital Kingdom of Caleste on the 30th day of January, as that is the beginning of the school year. Signed Lenore Spellmont, Headmistress of LeFay Academy of Magic

Claire laughed as Evelyn hugged both her mother and the princess.

Rosalyn hugged her child and wiped away her own tears "Oh, congratulations, my sweet angel."

Claire beamed at the Blake women "Looks like you're coming with me."
