Evelyn took in the sights of the city. The architecture was designed differently. It was essentially Sydney, combined with Tokyo, Singapore, London and New York, all to make a unique landscape, a odd but beautiful city skyline. Evelyn turned around to see a entirely different portal, instead of rocks, it was a big circle, with two tall white marble poles with golden spikes at the top, the gold fitting nicely with the white marble of the entire portal, with the light blue light in the circle shimmering away.
"To go to different worlds, you just have to speak clearly about your destination and walk through. It's a 100% guarantee travel."
"So you don't fly on broomsticks or use a magic school bus?"
Evelyn queried, even though she had a feeling the answer would be no, she did want to be sure before she told her parents. Claire looked surprised at the question
"The broomsticks are optional, but in our world they're like bicycles, and we have a Hoverbus, the Hecatia Interrealm Train which does stop at the Transport Station, and there are only four Hoverbuses that are allowed to go to Earth. I don't know what a magic school bus is, whatever that is."
"It's a kid thing"
Claire nodded her head slowly.
"Let's begin your tour, Evie!"
And the two did. Claire pointed out several businesses and districts that she knew of, there was the Business District, the Financial District, the Paradise District, Island of Remembrance, as well as the Island of Mid-Worlds Immigration, and the Imperial Palace, where the Emperor of the Magical Kingdom of Hecatia lived, along with his family.
Finally the two girls were approaching the LeFay Academy of Magic. It was a grand castle with many floors, but was also very wide. Just imagine if you smashed Hogwarts, the Winter Palace, Buckingham Palace and the Forbidden City in Beijing together, and that would be what the Academy of Magic looked like.
"Wow!"
Evelyn was in absolute awe. It was beautiful.
"Everyone says that first"
"It's so incredible. It's architecture is breathtaking!"
"I don't think that's the second thing they said, but it's certainly something new! The LeFay Academy of Magic, or L-FAM, has been educating magical creatures such as wizards, witches, merpeople, and elves for nearly 500 years, mainly they learn good and neutral magic, becoming law abiding witches, wizards, elves and merpeople, and maintaining peace between us and the humans, but the Erebus Institute of Evil focuses on evil and continuing the prejudices humans have against us. There have been wars between the good and evil witches and wizards since the passing of Hecate, our First Empress and the world's namesake."
"How many kingdoms are there?"
"A lot. There's Artemisia, we're in Caleste, Frequencia, Gygabyte, Festivala, Hydros, Hashara, Ignis, my home Lunaris, Demeteria, Mineralis, Umbra, Shernoble, Pogoda, Nyx, Polaria, but Olympia, Ferias and the Prison of Helltears are on the outskirts. You do not want to be sent to Helltears, criminals go insane after 48 hours there."
Evelyn nodded as she looked at the various witches, wizards elves and merpeople.
"How can you tell the merpeople apart from the others? Besides their tails, obviously."
"We're all the same, in Hecatia or on Earth. We're humans, but we have a more fun advantage to life since we practice magic."
"What do you learn at L-FAM?"
"Well, I'm going to be attending in a few hours, but I'm going to manage to have you added to the New Blood year."
"How many years do you spend studying here?"
"Four. The first years are called New Bloods, then there's the Phoenixes Risen, then the Fables and Salems, they're the Junior and Senior years respectively."
"Cool. So, is this a boarding school...?"
"College. Our families or us apply when we've turned 17, so that gives L-FAM a year to respond as to whether we will or won't be attending. I got my letter on my 18th birthday, which was a week ago. I'm just gonna go talk to someone about getting you enrolled in my year."
"I'll be here."
Claire hugged the auburn girl and walked off to find the administration office, and as the Lunarisian Princess walked off, Evelyn sat by a tree and watched. The students were all around her age, if not a little older. They studied something that was more fun and new than physics and English, not that she didn't find that fun, but it wasn't new to her.
Evelyn was entranced with the world, it seemed so much like Earth, but it was also like Harry Potter came to life. It was oddly unique and enchanting and captivating. Evelyn smiled and closed her eyes, inhaling as she breathed the fresh scent of Caleste and the world of Hecatia in.
An unfamiliar voice broke the silence "Miss, the school year hasn't started yet. Unless you are a student, you need to leave."
