Chapter 4 - Chapter 3: Little bo beep (1)

Is he serious? I am still in doubt since he refused to have my help in the first place because I called the necklace a damn thing. In just a small act of kindness I did or which I prefer to call it as it is, he changed his mind. Bizarre.

"Thank you! I can't wait to find the necklace!" I said. Of course what I have said is true. I can't wait to find the necklace because I can't wait to get out of this book.

"Then, it's good." He said.

"Samuel! Bryce! Come and join us here!" A woman shouted.

They started to play their instruments.

"Come and let's have some fun for tonight!" I said. I rushed to the villagers and Samuel followed.

A woman reached me a mug of a drink. I sniffed the smell of it to know what kind of drink was it. Yep, beer.

"That beer tastes so good Bryce! Try it!" An old woman says.

I don't know which era this story was set. I just noticed that the designs of their houses isn't a match for their celebration. It kinda gives me a middle ages vibe because of their houses built from marble and rocks but I do not have any idea what it is. I'm not an architect but it looks like the houses from an anime set on an era with no cellphones but kingdom of king and queen and knights. It also added the taste of polka sound they're playing with people dancing around in male and female matches.

I started to drink the beer. It is kinda sweet but I've tasted the bitterness of it lately. An acrid after-taste rather. I noticed Samuel isn't drinking that much but who cares? He's that gullible and let him have the drink he wants. He should enjoy this moment with other group.

"Drink more Bryce! Let's get all drunk tonight!" A man said.

I looked back on Samuel. I wonder what's his mission is all about. Why is this necklace so important to him? His innocent glowing yet fined face is so...

"Do you like him?" A boy which is about my age asked me.

"Me? Me like who?" I 'm confused.

"That guy you were with. Samuel." He answered.

"No, it's not what you think."

"Why are you holding back?"

"I'm not holding back! And there's nothing. For real."

"It doesn't matter if two guys like each other. If it's love, then it's love. Love doesn't have to do anything with gender. And I'll leave that to you."

I just gulped another beer in. If he would really know about my real world, then he would eat his own words. The world of judgments held by the eyes of people around you.

I started to feel the dizziness as I have more beer. I am now out of control and of myself. I danced with the polka music playing. Turn here, turn there, turns everywhere.

"Can you still dance Bryce?" Samuel asked. I'm certain that  it was Samuel even though I'm drunk.

"Oh! That's you! Come on let's dance!" I know my speech isn't normal anymore. My cognitive response is slowing gradually.

We circled around like crazy until I did something even more crazy.

"Carry me up!" I jumped onto him so he won't have a chance to decline my crazy idea. Now, I was like a baby hanging onto his daddy's arms and neck.

"Wooooaaaahhh! This is fun! Continue! Daaance!" I shouted.

Everything's blurry. I can't go any further. I tried to raise my head but I'm totally wasted. I rested my head on Samuel's shoulder until everything went blank.

•••

The sunlight's been striking my face as I found myself sleeping in a huge bed.

It's morning already and Samuel is in front of me. We're hugging each other and… what?!

I came into my senses and moved his arm away from my hips. I don't know what will happen if he'll be disturbed sleeping. I'm afraid he'll kill me if that will happen. My doubts are making sense because I do not know this guy personally.

Well, here I am trying to move his heavy muscled arm away but I failed as he unconsciously pulled me closer. Come on little Bryce! You can push this slim fit muscled tall fair guy in front of you. I don't actually know if I'm moving any distance away from him but his arm is too strong as if he is conscious with his eyes closed pretending to be asleep.

His face is now nearer than earlier to me. I can feel his breath. It smells so good though it is weird. We were both drunk last night and he still has this talent to make his breath smell pleasant. I almost totally forgot that I am still here inside this magic filled book. So that made sense why Samuel has ambrosiac smell of breath.

Since I cannot get away from his arm, I'll just turn around so we won't get into some kind of accidental kiss. But then, he pulled me in once again as I've turned around.

What is this thing poking my bum? I tried to reach for it to know what it is… shitn It was his morning wood! Why does he have to pull me in?! And it is quite the size huh?

All of my blood went to the bloodstreams of my face. My face is red! All blood went to the head. What I mean is my head with my face.

"Hey Sam! Sam! It's morning already. Wake up! You were hugging me for ages." I said while poking his cheek to wake him up. You should've known how much effort I've made just to reach him and to poke him.

"I'm sorry. It is not my intention to hug you for so long. I am just asleep." he apologized as he woke up.

"Don't mind it. We have to go somewhere else so get ready." I said.

We went down the stairsand it made our nose to sniff because of the food being cooked. Smell of breakfast.

"Oh you're up now! Come and let's eat!" Johnny's dad said.

We went to the kitchen and saw Johnny fixing the table. We joined their breakfast. I noticed that Johnny's mom isn't around. I want to ask where is she but I don't want Johnny to be sad if what I think is true.

We prepared our things and took a bath after having our breakfast.

"Thank you for welcoming us mister. We owe you a big one and we'll never forget the kindness you've shown to us." Samuel said.

"Off you go and make sure to find that necklace." Mr. Lucas said as we gave our goodbyes. It just feels so good seeing a father and son being happy on their own and I'm sure that little Johnny will be fine.

We started to walk continuing our quest or Samuel's quest. I don't even know where we'll go or where to find that necklace.

"So, where exactly is this necklace we're looking for?" I asked Samuel.

"To the plains of the south." He shortly replied. I didn't ask further more question because I don't wanna sound or either look nosy about it. That's quite being suspicious.

We continued walking even though it's too hot and the sun's haze literally burning my skin. Thanks to the cool breeze of the wind.

"Aren't you going to use a horse for us?" I irritably asked.

"Have you ever saw a horse with me since we first met?" He asked.

"None."

"That means, I don't have a horse."

What?! He is an adventurer in this story but he doesn't have a horse to use for his quest?! That's exhausting.

"I'm tired. Let's take a rest first." I said.

"We haven't walked 5 kilometers yet and you're tired already?!"

"My stamina isn't that strong like yours. Let's take a rest under that tree."

I immediately ran towards the tree atop of the hill. I also noticed a young girl taking a rest under this tree giving me the idea that it is just okay to rest here. Samuel sat on my side so I have my personal pillow. I could take a nap here peacefully taking the account of hangovers are still kicking in me.

The scenery up here is truly beautiful. Sunlight's been kissing the surface of water and it shines like a bed of diamonds. I bet there isn't any place in my world like this, again as I thought. My world is so damaged and reformed taking away its beauty. It may have beautiful places but it is not pure as what I can see right now. It made me feel sleepy so I took a nap leaning my head on Samuel's shoulder.

Vision went black and shifted to another scene showing a guy in front of me while taking my break inside this café. I'm probably dreaming. The guy took his cup of coffee down from his hand. It made me confused of what I'm seeing right now.

I can't see his face. It is blurred making me confused even more. I am clearly seeing the necklace of infinity around the guy's neck. Is this the real necklace the fairy's been talking?

"Waaaaaahhh!"

A sharp ringing voice woke me up. Seems that Samuel's been startled from the voice we heard. Later did we know that it is from the little girl earlier who's taking a rest before us.

"Where are my sheep?!" The little girl cried.
