Chapter 9 - Chapter 8: Green Grass Grows (1)

We had a great night staying here in the Kingdom of Eggdanar. Special treatment if you name it. Well, we do deserve this special treatment. After all, Samuel saved the damn life of that damn egg. Of course, they are obligated to give us some big help.

"Are you having fun?" A woman asked. I was astonished and found that voice coming from the very best burden I've ever had. The fairy.

"Oh! It was you dear ugly fairy!" I said.

"You never change. You won't find that necklace with that attitude of yours!" She yelled.

"Hey! For your information, Bo Beep's father said that I am a good kid!"

"Well of course you're fake!"

"I don't care! Just leave me alone! Get out of my presence!"

So she did. She disappeared like a bubble pop. Damn that fairy! Wait, I don't even know what's her name. I must know it so I could use her name to mock and insult her. I was just fast-paced by being hot-tempered that's why I did not get any chance to ask so.

I went out of the room so I could take a normal bath. The bathroom was elegantly made. It was perfectly made from natural rocks. The bathtub was also made out of rocks. I wondered what will eventually happen with our journey. Will we ever find the Necklace of Infinity? Samuel said it was the symbol of love and I don't care about it. I hope I could find it soon so I could go home.

I'm glad that I'm having a great time right now instead of having such a hard time finding the necklace. I finished bathing myself as soon as possible. We will probably set on the trail again today to find the necklace. I wonder how long will this journey be.

I saw Samuel walking along the hall and ready to take a bath as well. He stopped walking and I noticed he's staring at my body.

"What? Is there anything wrong with my body?" I asked.

He won't say a word. He is stunned by what he sees. Is my body that catchy? What happened with this guy? And what happened with the big bulge he has down there...

"What the fuck?!" I yelled.

He was automatically shocked and covers the bulge I was talking about. For Pete's sake, he had a boner? Because of my body? Oh well. He started running towards the bathroom and I ran as fast as I can towards my room. I wonder if this part is also included in the story of this book. Imagine the book says, "Samuel had a boner while staring at the body of Bryce." and the storyteller reads it aloud and the children listening will be confused. And they will ask, "What is a boner." Oh my gosh! Screw this book.

I dressed myself up wearing new clothes that the royalties gave us. It is such a comfort for me to wear these new clothes. I decided to take a walk and wander within the palace but I saw Humpty has some business he seems to be busy carrying some materials that look like flasks and beakers. Is he experimenting?

"Hey, Humpty!" I called. "Where are you going? And what are these?"

"Well, I was working on something that could help us on our journey to find the necklace."

"Wait, what do you mean?"

"I'll go on to find the necklace with you guys. Come on, Lamb has been helping me since the morning."

We entered a not so fancy room with not so fancy pieces of equipment inside. What I mean is, the room is messy as you could imagine a mess would be.

"So Humpty, you're coming with us?" I ask.

"Yeah! That would be probably good right? I thought this is the only way to pay you back." He answered while busy with what he's doing.

"Well food, clothes, and other resources are fine."

"But the journey out there isn't safe. You need someone like me who could use magic. There's a lot of danger out there and I am totally surprised that you and Samuel survived until here."

Everything that the fairy said made sense. I think I might be able to die here.

"You practice magic?" I once again ask.

"Yes. This kingdom is a kingdom of magic. This is protected by magic as well. So I practice every kind of magic."

"Every kind of magic?"

"Well, there's Dryad, Light, Dark, Elemental, Transformation, Mechanical, and Medical Magic." I've let Humpty do his work. I just looked for something useful instead of here.

There came a book which caught my attention. It is quite old and the pages are brown. The title says Succubi and Incubus of the Greenlands. I turned the page to the very first part of the story. I'm not sure if this is a story but, perhaps I guess.

"A long time ago, there was a young fairy who's on a journey to find the Ruby of Diamonds." I started reading the first sentence and a few seconds after, an image started to form on the page below the sentence I've read as if this illustration shows me the story itself. It was the fairy that this story says dreaming about the Ruby of Diamonds.

"She needed the jewel to heal the rift between the world of Demons and Fairies. She set herself on a journey to save his clan. One night, where the moon is full and the skies are awake, she met an Incubus named Sapis..."

"Hey, Bryce! Come on let's go!" Humpty yelled.

I was caught off attention from the book I'm reading. I closed it and brought it along with me. There isn't any problem with bringing a book right?

We gave our goodbyes to the Queen and King. They supported us with our journey by giving us a huge bag of gold, weapons, food, and a new carriage instead of the old one to use.

Finally, we took off on our journey.

"Humpty, I've brought a book from earlier. What is this book about?" I asked.

"Well, the title says it all. However, the Ruby of Diamonds were rumored to be not an actual jewel. Although the book says it was a jewel."

"What do you mean that it is not a jewel?"

"People said that it was a legend. A true legend perhaps. Few people said that it was a monster and luckily they survived the threat from the Demons of the Greenlands."

"So it is true? This story I'm reading?"

"Hopefully not. Because we're taking the route going to Greenlands."

I stopped realizing the moment he said the route we're taking. I have opened the last page of the book earlier. The thought seems foggy making me open the last page. The warning I have read earlier.

"This story is true. The legend of the Greenlands is true. This may serve as a legend in the future but don't ever take a route through the said location.

P.S. I have warned you.

Latrina"

The name seems to frail off the penmanship but somehow it is readable.

"Uh, why do we have to take this route?" I ask.

"Because it is the shorter route going to the

South," Samuel said.

"I think this isn't a better way to go. We must turn around now."

"Why? Afraid of the legend? Come on! It's not true." Humpty said.

"Then why does this book has a warning written on the last page? It says it's true."

"Don't worry about it. We're here on the Greenlands and nothing is happening."

But right after he said that there's nothing happens, the environment felt heavier, thicker, and darker. It seems like the weather's changing from sunny to a thunderstorm. Hence, it is dangerous.

The grasses started to rot and the heavens darker and darker. Barren trees grew and deadly vines along the road. Fog blocked our sight and the wind became colder.

"Well, well." A voice doomed somewhere hidden behind the fog. Xerneos halted and been uneasy.

"So the legend was true?" Lamb said.

"Yes, my dear it is true!" The voice answered.

I remember what had been mentioned in the book. It must be the Incubus named Sapis. Later on, they finally showed themselves. Three good looking demons. An Incubus and two Succubus.

"Welcome to your death, my guests. Now let these hands of ours are your judge for your death."
