Chapter 10 - chapter 10

I swiftly pull out of his embrace and smooth my skirt down. 'Thanks for helping me not fall on my face Mr. Milordov. Though it wouldn't hurt for you to watch where you're going so that you don't knock over an unsuspecting woman such as myself'.

He glowers down at me and crosses his arms, 'Well this might come as a shock to you but did it ever occur to you to watch where you're going. Because I can assure you I don't make it a habit of smacking into my employees with my body'.

I glare at him still frazzled from his embrace, 'Yeah whatever you say Mr. Milordov. Now if you'll excuse me I have some work I have to get back to, have a good one. ' Just as I try to escape from him he grasps my hand and pulls me back toward him.

This time his abrupt action garners some attention from my fellow colleagues as they cast curious glances our way. I try and shake him off, but his grip only tightens.

'I don't recall dismissing you. I think we both know what I came here for.'

I blink up at him, lost.

He glares at me, 'since I've already gathered that you're pretty much brain dead, I am talking about the reports, which you have still failed to send to me'.

I am about to tell him where he can shove his 'brain dead' comment, when Greg cuts in staring daggers at me, 'Hi there Mr Milordov, I'm so sorry for my inept employee over there' He nods his head in my direction, 'If I had known you were coming to our department today I would never have got Jacky to show you around. She doesn't know what she's doing please let me give you a tour instead'.

Nikolai drops my hand and crosses his arms, 'Oh so this insubordinate employee is called Jacky, is it?' he says in an ice-cold tone.

Greg is all to happy to supply, 'Yes, Jacky is our newest member here, and I'd love to say she's been a big help, but as you can see it's quite questionable at this point'.

I inwardly groan as I remember that I forgot to inform him about my incognito stint, I risk a glance at him, his eyes are practically glowing with menace and his nostrils are opening and expanding at an alarming rate, 'Questionable indeed, I'm surprised I wasn't made aware of this new hire'.

Greg visibly shrinks back from Nikolai's accusing tone, 'Oh I apologise sir I was sure that HR notified you as they were the ones that employed this young lady'.

'No it would seem they have not' His eyes flash at me, warning me that I may have pushed his limits too far.

He says in a flat tone, 'I will be borrowing Miss Jacky, I'll send her back down once I have concluded my business with her'.

'Follow me, Jacky' he casts a withering look at me as he stalks to the elevator.

I clench my fists and follow after him. The last thing I see as the elevator doors shut is Greg's ugly face pulled into a triumphant grin. Hmph! Smile while you can because it's not going to last for long.

The ride is done in silence, but I can feel the anger radiating off all 6ft 5 of him. It's making my skin crawl I hate being stuck in confined spaces especially with this awkward atmosphere that is brewing.

'Ping, Ping!' Thank god the elevator finally arrives on his floor and he stalks straight past his receptionist, I give her a small wave and duck my head back down as I hurry to keep up with him.

We enter his office and he slams the door shut behind me, which causes me to jump at the abruptness of it.

He forges ahead of me and leans against his desk in a belligerent manner, crossing his arms and glowering down at me.

I've never seen Nikolai this furious at anyone before, he always has this deadly composure when facing clients or employees. Every time we have met or interacted he has always been professional, even at the beginning of the week when I fumed at him he still had this irritating mask of composure. Yet it's nowhere to be seen now.

'Are you waiting for an invitation to fucking sit your ass down?'

I don't respond to his aggressive tone and make my way over to him, and sit directly in front of him!

'Un-fucking-believable! The nerve of you to play spy in my company! He growls at me, 'And to think you even managed to rope in the HR department to help endorse your stupid game, by providing you with a fake disguise!'

'What the fuck do you take my billion dollar company for?!' He bellows at me.

I scrunch my skirt in my hand trying to reign in my temper at the accusation.

'You actually used my company resources to endorse this silly act, the audacity. I have no idea what I'm paying Ruben for, if he's getting scammed into doing stupid shit like printing off fake employee documents and passes.' He slaps his forehead, 'Obviously he and the rest of HR have so much free time that they can assist you in doing a fake job instead of actually doing the job I hired you for!'.

I just stare at him with a deadpan expression, waiting for him to finish his silly spiel.

'Evidently the Human Resources department is in need of a clean up, and I think I know the first person that will be on that list next to Ruben's name!' he finishes, glaring at me.

I try to imbue my voice with a calm that I don't feel, 'Don't you think your blowing this whole thing, a teeny tiny bit out of proportion!' I hold my thumb and index finger close together in front of my face for emphasis.

His eyes flash dangerously as he leans down eye level with me, 'I'm-blowing-this-out-of-proportion?' He shakes his head, 'Do my ears deceive me or did I just hear the stupidest statement in the history of stupid statements?'.

He doesn't wait for me to answer his question as he continues, 'Yeah I think this marks the day! In all 37 years of my life, you take the crown for one of the dumbest questions that I have ever been asked! Congratulations Jasmina! Well done!' he claps in front of my face.

'Are we finished here? Because if so I have some work I'd like to get back to!' I say with derision.

If possible his tone actually drops to a chilling degree, 'Are we finished here?' he scoffs.

'I don't know did you graduate high school? Does it look we are finished here? Nikolai looks down at me with mirth, like he's heard the joke of the year.

I cock my head to the side and tap my fingers on my jaw, 'Well It's not like you brought me here to hear my side of the story.' And my eyes go to slits, 'So yeah, I would say, we are just about done here!'

I make a move to get up from the chair and he growls out, 'Don't even think about it!'

I jump out of my seat with my hands on my hips, 'Or else what?'

I'm met with silent fury.

Hmph! 'That's what I thought!'

I turn my back on him, ready to be done with this whole conversation, so I can get back to work and finish this damn assignment, when I hear him mutter, 'I knew it would be a mistake to work with her.'
