Chapter 11 - Strange people and no help.

"Why isn't there a bigger update?" Salvatore asked," I expected her coordinates by now"

"Then that would be a foolish expectation, we are combing through her history first. It is important to know what you're dealing with before waltzing into a fight" Enzo sat on the soft chair in Salvadore's office. Large and spacious, light-flooded into the room. The impression of purity in the room of a politician, the irony wasn't lost on Enzo.

Salvatore sulked as he sat on his chair," We need to find her"

"We are well aware and are on the right route but you must have patience. Now, why aren't you showing her mug shot in every street?" he asked, combing his dark tresses back

"It will incite wide panic, as of now, the presence of a serial killer isn't known to the common public and I want it that way for as long as possible" he leaned back.

"Yes, God forbid the public is prepared and wary. Anyway, I need the mugshot, it is foolish not to give it to us when we are the one's pursuing her" he reasoned.

"No, once you get a tentative feeling of how she looks, you can cross-examine and that will be your test of efficiency" he smirked.

Enzo smiled back, internally, wanting to roll his eyes," Well I shall get back to work, a lot to do and no help" he chuckled and walked out.

He had little to no patience for politicians or even the law enforcement agents, but he was forced to work with Chiara. She wasn't bad, not very meticulous but smart. One may assume she was the underdog but far from It, she was just ignored and no matter how many cases she had solved, it didn't garner respect or even attention. She spent her time in the same pay grade. Her talent for solving cases was noticed by Salvatore however, who knew her only based on her file and professional reputation rather than personal.

Enzo assumed that whatever hatred the department had for her, it stemmed from some personal exchange between her and them. Not that he cared, but he knew she would eventually confide in him.

Neglected people were often like that... finding solace in the sparse attention thrown at them from anyone, be it a stranger even.

Place: Cattedrale di Palermo

Time: 2:30 pm

Fanning herself as she looked around the Cattedrale di Palermo for what felt like the hundredth time, Bianca leaned against the wall. The tourists were roaming around, and she had done her work of giving them a rundown of the history of Cattedrale di Palermo. She watched as they socialized among themselves in that time.

"You feel hot?" a voice asked in Italian, she turned to find Kore standing behind her with a sickly sweet smile on her face.

"Um yeah...it is hot" she replied in English," Sorry it's hard to speak Italian spontaneously."

"You not Italian?" her face changed immediately as she switched to her rather broken English.

"I am...but I was raised abroad" she smiled, finding the change in expression incredibly uncomfortable.

"Oh…" Kore seemed upset at this and walked away to talk to the other tourists.

Bianca watched the woman, wondering whether she was a people pleaser or just very friendly. She herself wasn't very friendly or social and the prospect of it was just revolting to her.

She made up her mind to look into Kore. It was very possible to get strange people in tourist groups considering there wasn't much known about them.

The bus ride was tiring, and she sat in the front seat, fatigue etched on her face.

"Hey, you want some water?" Destiny offered.

Hesitating for a second, Bianca smiled and accepted," Thank you. Do I look that tired?"

"Yup, pretty much, you have been teaching and walking around the whole day" she smiled," You know so much"

"Yes... my dad taught me" she replied, retying her hair into a tight bun," You said you were from America?"

"Yeah... New York, came here on uh...vacation" she explained. While she may have lied, she didn't think Bianca would mind.

"Hey uh… did you find anything wrong with uh…her?" Bianca signaled toward Kore," I mean is she okay?"

"Yeah, she uh... I mean I guess," she turned her head to look at the girl who was talking to the others on the bus," she talks a lot to people... friendly"

"Is she? She doesn't really talk...she makes others talk. Notice carefully," Bianca smirked and Destiny realized that she was right. Kore as friendly as she seemed to be, didn't really talk and rather let people speak, observing them carefully.

"She talks about death a lot," Destiny sighed," that's the only weird thing I can think of"

Bianca nodded and looked at the girl, she trusted her gut in all she did, and right now it told her not to trust this Kore character.
