Chereads / Donnel's Dilemma / Chapter 7 - (Chapter 7) (Incoming)

Chapter 7 - (Chapter 7) (Incoming)

The next morning (Saturday 30 August)

Donnel woke up with baggy eyes, he hadn't slept a wink. He was worried and had spent the whole night thinking. Wondering about what had occurred at the park and if Zimi was still alive or not, and also wondering about what would have happened if the van had decided to follow them and shoot at the car; and shoot at the pregnant Colette.

The pregnant Colette was also another issue that was eating him form the inside. Deep down he knew that the baby could be his, if not her ex boyfriend Karabo. Either way would make him happy, he thought, but why?

Was it because he did not want the baby? Or because he did but just wasn't ready to take responsibility. Such thoughts were stuck, and still racing, inside his, mind. Donnel was busy getting daydreams and daymares.

He's tried to divert his attention towards his phone, checking his social media accounts, but it gets worse everytime he came across a post of a baby or a young couple, if not of both. So he left his phone and went to bath, comes back and remembers those letters he received from Zimi.

So as Colette helped her mother, his potential mother-in-law, to prepare breakfast, Donnel sat with those letters in his hands when the news caught his attention. News reports all over the 65 inch plasma, as some of the town's residents complained about the gunshots they heard the previous night. Some residents citing that they went to check out after the guns' blazing calmed down but only found a blood umbrella at the crime scene.

Mrs Lindie Witbooi, the city's Mayoress, was also adressing the town, stating that she's already sent two of their most noble detectives to the neighbourhood to check it out and see if it's worth investigating. It was in that moment when Donnel's also noticed that the Mrs Witbooi kind of looked familiar.

"Morning babes, my mom and I want to tell you some goodies," said Colette happily as she walked in the lounge beside her mother, "News so good that my mom bunked work today just to be here when you hear them."

"I've been wanting to say something too Colette, I mean babes," he bit his tongue, "been meaning to thank you for saving me in the nick of time last night, honestly don't know what would have happened to me if you hadn't come when you did.

"My pleasure lovey...," she walks towards him and takes his hand, "couldn't find you at Carol's, so I tracked your phone and found ^my baby's dad."

"You mean... I planted the seed inside you?," his shook overtook his expression as he looked to Colette and her mother

"Definitely you, Karabo and I used a rubber... You and I did not," Colette giggled and looked into my eyes, searching for my response.

"My daughter's has been growing for about 14 weeks, including all that time you were in a coma Donnel... The least you can do is take responsibility...

"And marry me too... you owe me Donnel," added Colette to her sweet mother's sentence, " we could name the baby Caith, Cole, Chloe or Cayla."

Rudely, his phone rang and interrupted that special moment. Not surprisingly, Caroline was behind that phone call, so Donnel excused himself and went back to the guest room to answer the phone. They greeted, but soon afterwards, Caroline went like...

"I really miss you Donny, my bed feels void without you... I miss and and I'd love to see you," she said before giving a cat's feisty roar."

"I wish I could, but I'm current facing something..."

"Tell you what," Carol's voice was lovely and playful, but tempting, "my tongue got something to show yours." Her giggles aroused his...

She then cut the phone and left her giggles wondering in his ears, until they were disturbed by the sound of a pop up notifications which came from his phone. One of which was a message from Karabo; "Stay away from my sister Donny... Do stay the f away from her, unless you want trouble brah."

Donnel found himself in a dilemma once again, if not a trilemma. He jumped on the bed and laid on it before he began doing some starfish signs whilst laying against it. He would have kept doing so, for it had always helped him calm down, but when his intuition told him to look outside.... Donnel crawled to the window, looked out, found a black BMW pulling up in front of the house small yard and park just outside the metre-high wall.

He saw A tall, slightly fat man come with a pink file in his hand. He was wearing a navy blue suit. In that moment he dropped his phone on the bed and rushed to the lounge to try and warn Colette and her mother of the cynical fate that would soon befall upon them. But first he rushed to the bathroom to piss out his fear.

Thoughts of that man in blue had taken over his mind. Maybe it is a hitman sent to finish off any witnesses, he thought. Yet, as soon as he got to the lounge he was surprised to Colette's mom already heading to the kitchen, towards the front door. Donnel gently hugged Colette, in anticipation of the worst, and whispered an apology for his rude behaviour lately. He also promised to take care of her and the baby.

Sadly, he watched the man come in, and made a string of fear coil around Donnel heart, squeezing it tightly. Another woman soon came in, she had a a beige lady suit on. She looked more friendly than the man beside her, besides her petty face she also had a pretty big chest.

His heartbeat slowed down, it was actually the woman who he'd seen at the at the hospital, the very night that he was discharged, Detective Diana Monique.

"We're sorry for coming unannounced but we we're here regarding last night's incident," said the lady with the big chest, as she greeted Colette's mother.

"How did you know, we were there"

"We traced your call," said the lady said as she whispering an ^excuse me^ whilst pressing her ringing phone against her ear and walking back to the kitchen to answer her ringing phone.

"But we didn't even call you, or text you...Unless mom mom or dad did," insisted Colette.

"We traced you using your car, satellite what what hidden in the pedestrian night lights." said the man who he soon remembered to be Detective Divvy Jaas as he quickly opened his pink box, which Donnel had thought to be file, and takes out a doughnut.

"Don't worry about taking their statements Divvy...," shouted D Monique from the kitchen, "we've got a lead as to where that white van and those culprits might be."

Soon enough, the two detective excuse themselves and are about to rush to their lead when Ms De Waal knock came from the door and she quickly stated that she's managed t pull some strings and has been allowed to visit Zintle for the very first time since the nearly fatal incident.

Her statements and remarks brings a scowl of discontent to Detective Divvy Jaas' face, as he wipes away the doughnut marks off the corners of his lips.

"But...," whisperingly adds Ms De Waal, Donnel and Colette's last year teacher, as soon as the two detectives walks out of the house, "I've actually been given permission to visit and also take Zintle home for a few days, though don't tell the detectives."

"I agree, I barely even trust them," nods Colette as she smiles at her favourite high school teacher delightfully.

"Given that... plus the fact that what I did might be illegal.

"Still a smart move by the way," added Colette's mom, Mrs Hartzenberg.

"Ggrrrr! Ggrrrr!" Donnel's phone rang again, and to his surprise... It was Zimi"

"You have to come quick, and come alone dude, something is about to happen I tell you."
