(somewhere at the north pole)
There was a witch hovering atop the tip of an iceberg. She gazed down at the icy ocean beneath her and tried to ignore the flocks of birds flying overhead.
These birds would never find home.
The witch was a researcher for a certain coven that controlled the north pole. She was enjoying the sunlight although it wasn't the slightest bit warm. She had been investigating the mana levels of the region ever since she had been visited by a family of arctic foxes. What she discovered was a bit worrying.
The mana levels were definitely increasing. The pole was practically choke full of it. If it kept increasing anymore then the situation would get out of hand.
The Leviathan dungeon of the north pole however was suffering the worst of it.
A dungeon boss had spawned.
This was because of the increasing mana levels. Leviathans could be controlled so long as they weren't of the larger variety the deeper you go into the dungeon.
But a dungeon boss inhabiting the lowest dungeon floor was definitely an issue. It was also intelligent from what she heard. The witch ate a grape concealed in her coat.
She was about to fly off on her broom that she had just summoned when she noticed white dots in the snow heading her way.
The white dots grew larger and she noticed red, a lot of red.
The arctic foxes were slowly limping with the injuries on them clearly evident. They stopped by the edge of the snow and hesitated to jump into the icy ocean just to get to the iceberg.
So the witch did them a favour and flew to where they were.
"Why are you guys all bloody..."
"We apologise for our poor appearances but an issue has emerged."
The witch rolled her eyes and lowered herself to the snow.
"And whatever could that issue be?"
"Our coven was destroyed."
The witch frowned immediately.
"Y-you can't be serious... Ninrillin was destroyed?!"
The largest of the arctic foxes lowered its head in pain as the others whined.
"Yes it is...we met a being far beyond our expectations and he completely destroyed the coven sparing nobody not even our grand witch."
"Then how did you sorry lot escape?"
"We weren't in Ninrillin at the time so we only suffered a few injuries as we ran away. Call us cowards if you wish but we would still stand no chance."
"I understand. Anyways we should head to my coven to tell them about this...thing."
"No we can't...he may have marked us so it be best we avoid your coven."
"And how do you know he marked you if you weren't in Ninrillin."
"I...I don't really know but please we can't go to your coven. Something wrong is happening here besides the weird things in the world are increasing at a scary rate. Covens have been disappearing along with the devils that came from nowhere. Our world may not even survive the next five years. Something is here and whatever it may be, it's going to end us all."
*******************
Kyle stared at his new servant Láeg the charioteer as he chewed on a freshly baked pastry. Láeg was simply fondling his horses ignoring everything else.
Thankfully Sheila had a stable and so the horses were kept here although they didn't seem to be too happy about it.
"I thank you for accepting someone like me as your servant. I shall do my utmost to accomplish any order you give to me."
{great, he's humble to.}
Kyle wiped a smudge of jam from his cheek and gave a smile to his new servant.
"I hope we can work well. So first things first I would like to know if there's a way for me to release and summon you whenever I want. Because having you follow me in a chariot can be a bit inconvenient."
"My horses and I can shape shift if you would prefer that."
The horses turned alert immediately with the grey horse whinnying in agitation.
"Umm... that would be great."
Láeg then gave a glance to his horses who finally settled down and melted into silver streams of liquid. They silver liquid then coiled into two silver horse pendant earrings. They attached to his earlobes with a sharp pain.
Láeg underwent the same process but he turned into a rosary pendant attached to a thin black bracelet.
Kyle wasn't quite sure he liked the new look but he kept his opinion to himself.
Kyle then returned to the mansion to find a serious looking Hannah.
"We need to have a meeting. All of us."
She then turned and headed for the dining room with Kyle following close behind her.
He wasn't quite sure what she had meant by 'all of us'.
When they entered the dining room Kyle was a bit surprised as he even saw Myrac for the first time in over a week.
Everybody in the room seemed fine in general other than Hannah who had dark bags under her eyes.
"Summon them."
Kyle obeyed and called for his servant and his horses.
Like a silent breeze they reformed beside him in their original forms. Liath (the grey horse) seemed to be In constant agitation as he stomped his hooves on the red carpeting.
"I just had that imported!!"
Sheila tried her best to not kill a horse.
Kyle and Láeg took seats with the horses standing behind them in attention.
This meeting had some form of importance apparently. Hannah sighed in exhaustion and tried to conceal a cough. Kyle saw the flash of red inside her open mouth, it was blood.
"Why are you still awake Hannah, go get some rest. If you're worried about something you can share it after we're sure you're not dying!!"
"No, this is too important."
Alicia frowned at seeing her sister's pain but made sure to not comment on it. Hannah looked around the table and gave everybody a good long stare before saying what she had to say.
"I think it be best we find a way to go to the Dark forest."
Kyle suddenly stood up causing his chair to tip over and startle Dub (the black horse).
"You heard those fallen angels. There's something there that we don't stand a chance against. We don't have to go back to that place until we get strong enough-"
"NO! WE NEED TO GO AS SOON AS WE CAN!"
Kyle was startled, Hannah was breathing heavily as that yelling drained a large portion of her energy.
"Why must we go..."
"Because I had a vision. So please sit down, it may take a while to tell the whole story."
