Chapter 42 - Days remaining (8/8), CH 42

Hannah closed her eyes as she tried to withstand the pain. Now she was sure that going to that place had solmehow affected her health. She collapsed to the floor just as her vision faded.

Kyle rushed to stop her fall but Alicia got to her first. Hannah's face was definitely becoming pale with her body shivering. Alicia and a few maids took Hannah to her room to treat her. The remaining people in the room fell into a harsh silence. Kyle wanted to do something but he knew nothing he could do would be of any use.

The silence was strong for a good few minutes before Sheila decided to break the silence.

"You need to go and find the ancient."

"No."

"Stop being idiotic Kyle, you have to fight them now before they regain full power."

"Had you listened to what Hannah said? That boy with her was called Damian Lore!"

"What does that have to do with anything!?"

"That boy is literally the enemy of all living things!? weren't you a messenger goddess? HOW HAVEN'T YOU HEARD OF THE LITERAL KING OF CHAOS!?"

"I...haven't"

Kyle stared at Sheila who was now avoiding eye contact. Kyle wondered how long she had been a messenger goddess.

"I mean the universe is infinite... so there are probably tons of people out there with the same names. Why exactly should a name stop you from saving a world you literally came to save?"

"Because if he really is the king of chaos then its best we stay out of it."

"Ok i'm tired of your cowardice!"

Sheila got up from her chair in a quick motion. She was obviously getting tired of Kyle. She walked over to him and smacked her hand on the table.

"Stop your stupidity and save the lives your supposed to. If you can't do that then clearly you do not deserve that rank of archangel."

Kyle's face blanched immediately and he found himself staring at the carpeting. Deep down he knew that she was right but he didn't want to admit it. He was scared, he had been shown how the universe would come to an end by his alternate self. If he decided to go fight the 'ancient' then it would only contribute to their end.

He wanted to avoid losing his friends and family. So that's why he decided to explain to Sheila about everything.

(The grand palace of the elf king)

The elf king Abrak was sitting on his soft bed staring off at the distance through his window. His expression was calm and serene. He ran his elegant fingers through his hair before making a decision on what he should do.

He got up from his inviting bed and walked over to his window and placing his palms on the glass. The glowing lights of the stunning northern lights in the distance told him all he needed to know. He closed his eyes and began a chant.

Immediately the rainbow color of the sky in the distance began to recede like a child moving away from a scary looking adult. When Abrak opened his eyes again the lights had gone back to the poles and he felt nature revert back to its regular status.

"This is obviously the result of those angels...the issue is of whether I should get involved with them or not. They come from that archon Elohim and that normally would be reason enough to not get involved. But clearly they seem to be doing more harm than good, i'll have a good chat with them."

Abrak turned to leave his room but instead found a bloody female corpse on his carpet. The female corpse had two rather thick curled horns on her head and her hair flowed like a blue river. She was wearing torn adventurer clothes that had had large slash marks. Her skin was a smoky grey with dark spots around her eyes. Abrak recognized her race immediately, it was a wyvern.

She looked to be a youth or probably a bit older. Abrak sighed and looked around for the culprit. It wasn't difficult to find them.

"Why are you here Druid king? did you really have to bring a dead humanoid wyvern to my bedroom?"

"You did say you wanted the wyverns taken care of right? This was their former commaner who just so happened to be extremely violent when I wanted to talk."

"Still this is a bit extreme..."

"You want me to eat her so you dont have to look at her anymore?"

"Last thing I need to see is YOU eat."

Abrak stepped over the corpse and stretched his aching limbs. He didn't even give the druid kig a second glance before leaving his bedroom.

"Well I'm still hungry anyways."

*********

Sheila was sitting in the study room alone with a hot mug of tea in her hands. She couldn't focus on the warmth of the tea as her mind was trying to comprehend what Kyle had told her. He had explained everything verbally yet Sheila could practically imagine it. A tired expression took over her face and she looked towards the fireplace.

"The universe will be consumed by infinite chaos... so great that even the Archons will die."

Sheila frowned, the phrasing Kyle had used was a bit more dramatic but the message was clear. The Archons were a whole rank above the gods and even if all the gods united they wouldn't be able to hurt even one of the Archons. She took a sip of her tea and placed it on a table by her side.

"Bitter."

Sheila was really trying her best to believe what Kyle said but a situation like that just sounded unbelievable, almost as if he was underestimating the strength of an Archon.

She had made her decision and got up from her chair while staring at the fireplace. They couldn't ignore the 'ancient' even if it may cause a chain reaction leading to the destruction of the universe. She grabbed her tea mug and headed for the dining room. She knew she would find Kyle there and indeed he was.

"We have to deal with the ancient."

"I just explained to you-"

"I know and I've decided its better to just ignore you. So you will stay here while the rest of us go and fight."

"WHY!? you'll be putting more lives in danger than you'll be saving."

"Because the future you speak of is only a possibility not definite. We will find a way to rewrite it and if you don't want to help then be useless somewhere else."
