Chapter 12 - The elf king

Sherick watched as his targets walked away with only tears but no real damage. He silently cursed and did a few hand signals, immediately another skeleton scout appeared by his side adorned in black leather clothing and several hidden blades. Blue spiritual flames burned within its eye sockets and it waited patiently for its next order..

"Tell Luther that the targets have managed to walk through the arrow trap unscathed. I would have preferred it if he allowed me to use my own strength but that's fine. They are heading towards the Elf king's territory and seem to have a summoner amongst them."

The skeleton scout nodded its head with a small creak and disappeared into the shadows. Sherick was now sitting atop a tree branch with a scarlet bow beside his folded legs. He made a few more hand signals and several blue lights flashed around him before disappearing.

He was in charge of the defensive force of the Fonte' family. He had over 300 undead under his command with half of them being B ranked and above. His counterpart, Luther, was in charge of the offensive unit of the family. They were banished into the dark forest by that blasted elf king and his accursed divine dagger. Sherick got up and lazily stretched his bones and with a soft hissing sound, he completely disappeared from his tree branch.

Kyle was back to telling his stories from the books at the library. Alicia wasn't too interested and instead took the notebook to strike up a conversation with Prince Jesus. Hannah felt a bit stiff so she let out her wings that had noticeably grown larger. The tips of the wings touched the grass and that slightly disturbed Hannah. Kyle also released his and felt so much more comfortable, so they walked like this for another 10 minutes.

They could see a gap between some of the trees and a bright light. Alicia was the first to realise that it was a lantern and sprinted to it followed by Kyle and Hannah who hovered. They quickly found themselves out of the trees and a rocky path was under them. The lantern was attached to a large wooden beam that shined down on them. The path was long, Kyle and Hannah hid their wings again and landed on the path.

"Definitely made for industrial use...mines?"

"I don't know everything you know..."

Kyle walked to the lantern post and looked up at it. There was a candle inside a metal box with a glass casing.

"Definitely primitive technology."

Kyle turned over to Alicia who had returned to chatting with the notebook. Hannah was looking to their right in the distance. She had narrowed her eyes into slits and was clenching her right hand.

"What's up?"

"A divine aura is heading our way..."

"A GOD IS HERE!"

"I'm not sure but it's definitely a suffocating one. I can't understand which god it could be but it's hurting my eyes a bit."

"Like a lime kind of pain or..."

"I don't know how to describe it but it has definitely picked up our position. Probably senses the notebook."

"Soo...what should we do...Alicia?"

"We should try to interact with this god...if we present ourselves as angels we shouldn't really meet too many problems unless it's a stubborn god...I believe we are to leave such people to you, Prince Jesus, right?"

{Don't worry I'll handle it if they become troublesome...although I wouldn't say the person in question is an actual god- Jesus]

Alicia gave her own opinion and with Jesus affirmation, she returned to her usual carefree attitude. They all revealed their wings and walked towards the direction of the divine aura. The path was a straight line and in the distance the elf king watched all of them reveal their wings. He frowned at this action and with the distance, his own divine aura was dramatically reduced.

{Angels...but under which god do they serve...no matter they've probably managed to sense me. If they think I'm a god this won't end well.}

The elf king started heading in their direction as well. Under the moonlight, his silver short hair stood out even in the beauty of the forest itself.

The angels stopped walking and started hovering with their speed increasing by the second. The distance was well over 1 kilometre but it was being crossed at dramatic speeds by both parties. In half a minute the parties were within viewing sight of each other.

Kyle drew in a sharp breath when he saw the elf king.

{He's handsome!}

The elf king had silver short hair that was messy and slightly covered his brows, he had deep blue coloured eyes and a sharp cute nose. His ears were pointed, he wore white robes with red embroidery of a crown and flowers on its centre. His skin was a slight peach with markings placed on his left arm in the shape of a cross.

They just stared at each other before the elf king first started the conversation.

"I am Abrak, elf king of the people of Lardocia...and with whom do I have the pleasure of speaking with?"

"Oh! right...we are angels of the third heaven under the rule of his majesty Elohim! umm...we just happened to be leaving this forest, if this is your land and we have done you wrong we sincerely apologise."

Hannah tried her best to be polite and give a proper introduction. The elf king, on the other hand, internally scowled when she mentioned where they were from.

{Elohim...people like these guys shouldn't be on a world like this.}

The elf king looked up towards the sky and with a clear voice, he asked a question.

"Why are you on this world...did somebody from this world offend your ruler?"

"No! no no...we had come to help in a mission to save this world..."

"save it? from what?"

"Chaos."

At that, the elf king showed visible displeasure. Chaos was something he couldn't afford to mess with since it would be too troublesome. The angels being present probably meant that this wasn't a joke. Also, they were subjects of Elohim...an Archon.

This was something serious.

"By the way...are you a god?"

"No."

Kyle seemed to calm at the answer. Alicia was indifferent and just stood still with the tips of her wings wrapping her feet. The elf king just stood still for a while and then decided to speak once more.

"I guess since I found the source of all that noise I no longer have anything to do with the forest...I'll be going now I wish you good luck with your mission here."

With that, the elf king turned around and attempted to walk away from the angels. Alicia decided to ask a question and the elf king had to stop in his tracks.

"What is your name, your highness?"

"Abrak."

"Are you in possession of a divine artefact?"

"I am...what of it?"

"I was just curious...well goodbye."

The elf king said his farewells and with a snap of his fingers, he vanished. Alicia watched him and a small smile appeared on her pretty face. Kyle and Hannah were floating a little bit higher than her and hadn't seen her smile but they would not be happy if they did.

It usually ended with mischief.

They all landed back on the path but kept their wings visible and decided to walk on the path. With the elf king's arrival, they were now certain it led to civilisation.

They had failed to accomplish the second objective perfectly but they still made it out of the forest so the future had only changed slightly.

(Back in the first heaven in the grand library of the holy palaces.)

Jesus was sitting at a grand table made of marble and jasper with a frame of ebony. His hands were folded and a floating green board was floating on top of the table. He swiped his fingers upwards and the contents on the board changed to an image of three angels walking on a stony path towards a certain direction. The angels in question were obviously Kyle, Hannah and Alicia. He narrowed his eyes when he saw the elf king appear and vanish. He had heard their conversation and had decided that he should probably make a way that the angels and the elf king could be working together. He wanted to make sure they lived through all that would come. He couldn't be there himself as it was decided by his father that the future wouldn't be favourable if he tried to interfere too much.

{They are the future of my father's kingdom...they must accomplish their trials no matter the cost.}

At that moment Jesus felt the table slightly shake and he looked up to the face of a very beautiful woman who looked back at him with indifference. She had ten large wings that made a complete wheel on her back and shone brightly in golden brilliance.

"Hello, Holy!"

"You gave her my bow..."

"I just wanted to make sure she could protect herself."

"You gave an angel my bow...not an archangel but an average angel."

"She is an heir! surely she can handle it..."

"I'm an Archon Jesus...gods can't handle my own bow never mind the Major ones."

"Then we just wait and see."

Jesus showed a smile but holy kept quiet and turned around.

"by the way...thanks for the lunch."
