Chereads / The Next Archangel / Chapter 7 - Myrac

Chapter 7 - Myrac

He was watching his master closely with his crystal blue eyes. He actually did think that she was very cute but Hannah didn't seem to react any differently than when she had first looked at him. Almost as if she hadn't heard his words. To him, this wasn't much of a problem so he pulled back and looked forward only to see two other people standing not too far.

The little light and the towering trees made the two seem frightening especially since their eyes flashed goldenly. The weapons they had seemed strong as well. Myrac wasn't scared in the slightest though. To him, this was normal to see since back in his own world this happened often.

Myrac coughed a bit and Hannah seemed to snap out of her trance. Her expression changed to one that was indifferent.

"Hello, my name is Hannah and I'm an angel from the 3rd heaven belonging to his majesty Elohim."

She placed her right hand over her heart and slightly bowed. Myrac didn't move at all watching her.

"I am the one who has summoned you and If it is alright with you I would like it of we could form a contract between our souls as equals...I know I may not have much to offer but-"

"I accept, Master."

Hannah watched Myrac with wide eyes as she hadn't expected such a fast response at all.

"I haven't even stated what I would like from you?"

"Whatever it is I accept."

"..."

"..."

"why?"

"Because I want to."

Hannah was disturbed by hi answer but stopped herself from asking any more questions. She instead gestured for Myrac to follow her and they walked over to Kyle and Alicia who were watching from next to the roots of a tree.

Kyle held his sword close while Alicia was silent. Hannah walked over and introduced Myrac to both of them. Myrac was silent as he was being introduced with the pole on his back having most of their attention.

"He's a pole master apparently."

"You mean like a spear master?"

"Spears are part of the polearms family and I think as a pole master he can probably use all of the members of the polearms family...am I right?"

"Yes."

Myrac gave his response to Kyle's question almost immediately. Kyle got up from his sitting position and walked past Myrac and Hannah to get over to the lake.

He was in no rush and reached there fairly slowly with the sword in hand. He turned around to look Myrac in the eye and a smile on his face.

"Can we have a quick fight?"

"KYLE!"

Alicia was shocked and shouted Kyles name only to feel her sister's finger on her lips. She looked at Hannah's expression and it clearly told her.

{be silent.}

This was definitely something Alicia didn't want to do but she decided to follow the request.

Myrac hadn't moved from where he stood and was instead looking at Hannah. She could guess what he was thinking and so she simply waved her hand signifying her approval.

Myrac immediately placed his hand behind his back and pulled the pole that was easily manoeuvred by his fingers. He jogged over to Kyle with his pole and stood three meters away. The scarf was covering his mouth and nose but his eyes were constantly flashing blue.

Kyle wasn't scared and neither was he intending to harm Myrac. He simply wanted to have a test of skills for himself. Kyle placed his right hand under the guard and his left hand was tightly wrapped around the grip. He felt the sword's weight and it was now easy to move. Kyle watched Myrac for any hint of emotions but didn't get any.

Myrac was holding the pole with his right hand and his left leg was slightly behind his other leg. He was silent and waited for Kyle to start the first move.

So Kyle decided to move first.

"Kyaaaa!"

******

(Myrac's POV)

My master's companion came at me with his sword raised above his shoulder and his eyes flashing. He was sprinting with his sword held tight.

I reacted in turn, I was in a jog and the three meters was instantly closed when he started sprinting. I simply jogged and placed my pole in front of me horizontally while lowering myself. His sword came down in a single strike and bounced off my pole and I ducked while master's companion jumped high to strike me. His sword was against my pole as he used it to balance himself and land on both of his feet behind me.

I quickly turned around with my pole digging in the ground as I tried to build momentum to counter the next blow.

"CLING!"

Our weapons clashed and I felt a vibration that made me slightly unbalanced. Master's companion grunted and he tried to stab forward aiming for my left shoulder. I blocked it with my pole and tried to go for a low sweep at his ankles. He jumped over that and aimed his sword for my forehead instead. I ducked and we kept on going like this.

We had clashed for about 4 minutes with my pole blocking all of his strikes but the constant vibrating displacing my balance. I managed to hit his hip once and with the other end of the pole aimed for his head but was countered.

Throughout those 4 minutes, I had counted about 47 sword strikes, 6 of them having missed me, 23 sword stabs followed by several kicks for my abdomen. He was increasing in speed the longer we fought and I had to start moving constantly to catch his weak spots. I parried most of his blows with a few grazing me.

His eyes seemed to forever be glued to my positions as he never failed to meet my blows with his sword. One thing I noticed, however, was that he constantly seemed to be shielding his backside with flips and lousy parries. He would then increase his speed and I would be on the defensive.

We continued for a good 7 more minutes before...

"Good match."

Master's companion stopped his movement and threw his sword onto the ground. A big smile was on his face and his hand stretched out. It looked like he wanted to shake hands and so I did.

"Good match."
