Chapter 1: The unknown killer

Nobody knew where the darkness that sent the world into panic came from, not one person. But people had theories. "Maybe Russia released a toxic cloud" or "Its the smoke off of a unknown nuclear emission". But of course these were only theories, and theories are rarely correct. So all we knew were that it was killing people, fast.

The scientists had said it was extremely toxic and it was real easing some sort of energetic waves; there was no possible way to rid of it so the government told EVERYBODY to stay in their homes, but what they didn't realise is that didn't help. No matter how hard we tried, there was no stopping it: it got through the cracks underneath the door, it got through the electricity wires into the houses and it got through pretty much any way it could. And before they knew it, half the population of the world was dead. Then there was 1 billion left. Then 100 million. Then 1 million. Then 12. Only 12 people left on the supposed best planet for humans to live on. There was: Alex the dumb retard one, Charlie, the athletic one, Becky, the smart one, Jack and Sydney, the brother and sister, Kev, the oldest one of the group at 17 years old, Thomas and Luke, the reckless and smart twins, Craig, the Scottish one that nobody could understand, Hannah, the pretty one that all the boys drool over and Chloe, and she's just, she's just Chloe. And me. My name is Logan Carter, I am 13 years old and this is the story of how I survived an apocalypse for nearly 10 years.
