Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: The Start of The End

I saw something in the back of my eye, creeping around in the shadows of the night; I kept walking and I didn't look back. I didn't know what it was or where I was but I was scared, I was fucking scared. So on I went, with my creepy companion. I didn't, I wouldn't, stop now, I needed to find someone, I just had to.

My legs ached like mad and the soles of my shoes were wearing away, and the dampness of the road was sinking into my socks. I was cold, I was miserable, I was lonely. Every now and again I heard I light rustle from behind me, but I kept on. I think this was my fourth day into the end of the world, my fourth day of walking, my fourth day of surviving.

Suddenly, I heard a chuckle of

ghoulish laughter and I stopped dead in my tracks. I stood completely still and didn't dare to even breathe. The only sound I could hear was the eerie silence, the silence that I was shitting myself to.

I slowly turned around, facing the shadow that cast beside me, I stood like a statue, not daring to make the first move. "He... Hello?" No reply. "Hel... Hello?" Again, no reply. And just as I was about to sprint away towards the darkness that ran ahead for miles, it moved out of the shadows. The light of the full moon landed on its face, and it was not a sight to behold. It's face was smeared with blood that was dripping down onto the road below, it was battered and bruised and half of his face was gone, the black teeth showing at full, its eyes were a deep black that looked like they were looking down into a dark pool and it was huddled over like a grandad at the dinner table. Now I was fucking shitting my pants more than ever; before I could ask myself what it was and why it looked like a bloody zombie from the horror films, it started moving toward me rapidly.

"Oh fuck."
