It was unexpected. Zai held the tray of drinks firmly. Before he knew it, the guy in front of him wears a dripping wet suit. He tripped. As he recovered from shock, he quickly bowed several times as he apologized. Preparing to be scolded, he could not hide the confusion on his face when he saw the smirk of the guy.
"Thank you for giving me a way out of this hell, waiter," the guy said.
Hearing the gasps from people around them, he could not help but feel embarrassed.
'What a lucky night, Zai! You'll get fired for sure.' He sarcastically told himself.
Well, he is not scared of losing the job actually. It's just that he liked being a waiter. It was nice to exercise his social skills. Plus, he loved how he can easily get in and out of big parties and other occasions such as this one – unnoticed.
"No need to be scared, I'll ask your manager to promote you," the guy before him whispered.
Now, it is beyond confusion. He was amazed - curious and amazed. Of course he knows the guy. He is the celebrant and he had already seen him earlier while he was giving drinks to the guests. He was wearing a poker face based on his memory. He was like a cold statue with a touch of mystery out there that was stared upon by everyone. And now the very same guy looks at him with amusement.
His parents walked towards them.
"What happened here?" His mom asked.
"It's nothing, just a little accident."
The guy looked at him. "You are excused. Mom, I'll be changing first."
As his mom was about to say something he added, "Don't blame the waiter. It was just an accident."
And with that he walked away.
"Interesting," Zai whispered.
