Chereads / Fah N' Zai / Chapter 5 - THIRD TIME'S A CHARM

Chapter 5 - THIRD TIME'S A CHARM

Fah is sitting on a bench reading a book. In the distance, Zai is with his friends walking their way to the cafeteria as class has just ended. He sees Fah and excuses himself from his peers.

"Hey, where are you going?" Tee asks.

He shrugs and gives a mysterious smirk. Tee was baffled. So much has been going on with Zai, his best friend and he seems unaware of almost all of it. On the other hand, Zai is enjoying the thrill of being the only one who knows his connection with the guy reading on the bench he was headed to.

As an introvert, Fah enjoys solitude despite being in public places. So having a book to keep him in both worlds is a necessity. He barely noticed Zai who was standing near him. He bends over to look at him.

"Hey!" Zai greets him with an idol-like smile. He never had a hard time befriending people because of his social skills and being an extrovert. Fah looked up and furrowed his eyebrows. "Yeah?"

'Wow, he sure is a snob, huh?' Zai thinks to himself. Fah realizes it was the guy at this party before, and the same guy at the café. He mentally slapped himself thinking he probably scared him off or made him think he was a snobbish elitist.

"Sorry, I was reading a book and I don't like being interrupted," Fah tries to salvage the situation.

"No, it's my fault for intruding. I just wanted to come over and tell you how grateful I am for last time. What a coincidence you also go here," he tries to explain himself.

"Yeah, I'm as surprised as you are. We've met a couple of times already but I never really got your name."

"I'm Zai."

"Prosperous." Fah says softly.

"Huh?" Zai chuckles.

"I mean your name. It means a prosperous life, right?"

"Really? I never even knew. Anyway, now we're acquainted. Maybe we can hang out sometime?"

"Won't you be busy?"

"With what?"

"With your job?"

Zai mentally slaps himself. 'Damn, he does know me as a server at his party.'

"Oh, yeah. But there aren't any events lately so I have some time to spare."

"If you say so."

"Can we exchange contact?" Even Zai is surprised by how forward he is. He's acting beyond his usual self. But heck, should he waste the chance?

He stands up after they exchange numbers and gives another bright smile. "See you around!"

"I guess the third time's a charm," Zai mumbles under his breath.

FAH'S POV

'What a weird way to be acquainted,' he mutters on his head.

'He seems like my total opposite. He can easily carry a conversation, and certainly the life of a party. The attraction seems to be getting stronger. And by getting my contact details and inviting me out, does that mean making a move on me?'

Fah has never really questioned his sexuality. For him, there's nothing wrong with people falling for someone of the same gender but it's the first time a guy openly approached him - although he doesn't know if Zai is just friendly or there's something more to it.

But he can't deny that he is interested in the guy. Who wouldn't be? He had slender legs. He probably has a toned body underneath the sweatshirt he wears.

'Why the hell am I thinking about his physique?'

He tries to get back on the book he's reading but no, his mind is far off the edge already.

"Zai," he whispers.
